I GET IT
I GET IT
For truth. Never understood the craze. It actually annoyed me that they started focusing on looks instead of programming.
I can't remember the name of the show, but I enjoyed the show where they played the music from games and basically just showed bits and pieces of the game. No commentary or anything.
Icons was an awesome show when it was on. Kinda sad to see it go only because I loved the TechTV/early G4 days. I still liked AOTS and XPlay until the bitter end, but when Adam Sessler and Kevin Pereira left I figured it was only a matter of time. I wonder if this means they're dumping XPlay and AOTS during the rebrand or not.
When Adam Sessler and Kevin Pereira left the network died. That was several months ago
All would be forgiven if they brought back/put out Portal on DVD/downloadable.
Everyone with taste knew this was the inevitable outcome the second they fired everyone good from TechTV. Oh look now G4 wants to be TechTV. The ironing is delicious.
After they shitcanned the good parts of G4 I only really watched this for Ninja Warrior, also someone already said it but American Ninja Warrior is a fucking disgrace, I was actually hype for it for a minute but then realized how fucking stupid it was compared to the original.

It was inevitable. Once they started airing Cheaters/Cops, they completely derped the entire station. Need more tech, games, and nerd type things.
I actually really enjoyed Feedback too, I wonder if whatever they decided to change it to will still come back. Also is there any reason we're Voldemorting the "she" in question.
I enjoyed Campus PD, which was basically COPS in college towns with dumb college kids. But I think that also airs on E! so it will probably get picked up there.
Not mad at all about this as long as Sara Underwood and Candace Bailey get their own show together again. AotS while I watch for them mostly now, just isn't the same without Kevin Pereira. Always at work anyway when Comic-Con and E3 coverage airs, and watching it on dvr isn't the same as live, so yeah, not many good reasons to care about the channel.
i can't remember watching G4 at all except for when minibosses played on one of their shows, although that may have been when techtv still existed.
oh, and i tuned in to see their broadcast coverage of the evo2k10 finals, which didn't air until a few weeks after. of course i'd watched the stream so it was already obvious it was going to be terrible, but i couldn't resist.
glad to see they're going away, that's what they get for keeping adam sessler employed all those years
I used to watch screensavers and call for help religiously when I was a kid. Not sad to see G4 go either. I remember actually thinking it was going to be techTV with significantly more video game content. lol
Kevin is/was the sharpest minded person on daily comedic television. On par with Stewart/Colbert.
AOTS was cut to Mon-Thurs and X-Play was cut to Mon-Wed (god damn)
Olivia was awesome to look at. (Asian with freckles, come on bro.)
Olivia completely burned her bridge. Her name is never mentioned again.
They didn't make Alison the new co-host. She got to travel and do bits but she seemed burnt out from it.
Alison left
We got Candice beautiful ex-gymnast.
We got Sara 8)
Adam left
Adam is seen on SpikeTV during E3 (knife through the heart of X-Play, "it's the slow knife...")
Kevin leaves after E3/Comic Con, best way to go out.
Candice/Sara combo 8)
Not putting Matt Mira as new permanent host. Bullet through AOTS' head.
Debut most recent season of Ninja Warrior on the 9PM slot against Walking Dead, simulcasting on NBC. GREAT JOB!
Cops, Cops, Cops, Cops, Cops, Cops, and Cops.
R.I.P. G4
Burn in hell X-Play.
I'm sure we saw this coming when the thread was made. Sucks for everyone involved there, I followed a lot of their writers so I hope it pans out for them. Sorry for sourcing Kotaku.
G4—the network once known as the go-to destination for video game-friendly programming—is ending its gaming programming.
We've heard that G4's major video-game and geek-culture shows, including X-Play and Attack of the Show will be cancelled today by the network. A source close to the situation says that it's not clear if the shows will last through the year or be cancelled immediately. The rumor is that the network will shift to something more like an "Esquire" or "GQ" channel. This aligns with reports that NBC Universal was looking to rebrand the channel as alifestyle network focused on "the modern male."
Tweets from G4 staffers and industry insiders earlier today have hinted that a major shake-up is coming:

26 Oct 12 ReplyRetweetFavoriteLaunched in 2002, G4 started off with a programming slate that consisted almost entirely of game-centric programming. After acquiring TechTV, the network found success with X-Play, a recurring show that featured reviews and comedy based on new game releases. Longtime co-host Adam Sessler left X-Play earlier this year, a move that signaled the end of an era for many. We'll update this story as we learn more.Jeremy's Lair@JeremysLair
To my passionate, hard working and creative friends @g4tv. This is only the beginning of something fresh and new for all of you. Good luck!
