Gotta get that pettanko dollar.
Rather than reset his stats to 0 at the end of the ALO arc, he should have just "reset" them down to something comparable to Suguha's skill levels. The account is still the same so his playtime is still insanely high. When you transfer an account from one game to another, it'll approximate the stat/skills conversion (I'd assume contingency plans in place for new launches). So even though he'll be a completely new player to the established GGO world, his game avatar's stats will be adequate enough to allow him to participate in 'high level pvp'. But yeah, no boobs/ass; just a trap.
I remember he was able to port his char over from SAO to ALO since ALO was the sequel that didn't trap you in a fantasy world for months, but he can also port his char to the new game? Isn't this game by a completely different company from the US or something?
I believe all the VR games are now a result of the "World Seed" where people can take the basic structure from SAO and create your own game from it and host it on a server. Characters can then move from game to game.
ALO stole the SAO game design directly from SAO, copying over many information. Hence why his skills transferred over. (I just binge watched the first season over two days)
He made a "new character" for ALO. ALO was made by the company that took over SAO's company after it went bankrupt. They made ALO by using an earlier version of the Cardinal system, so basically a reworked alpha of SAO. Since he used his original nervegear helmet with the character data from SAO stored in it, ALO loaded that character's save data and part of it was corrupted-- he kept the skills and level/stats. For the most part plot hax mumble jumbo.
What's happening as he transfers his account from ALO to GGO is different. Both games were made by using "The Seed" as their base, or rather have it as their base. "The Seed" is the thing Kayaba gave him that they hosted on the internet for everyone to download and use. Every game that used "The Seed" as its architectural baseline, provided the company/etc allows it, can support the transfer of accounts or characters. Since the game engine and other stuff is the same, it's pretty easy for things to cross over. It's basically a logical version of what happened before, with none of the character data being saved locally bs.
The games having the same game engine is an small important piece of information imo. It should be mentioned via Kirito's inner monologue when he enters ggo, hopefully. A quip about how much detail Kayaba put into the engine-- the npcs/AI for example have facial expressions that you can use to read their intentions.
Yeah. The in-story theory is that The Seed removed the barriers between any and all worlds created with the Seed code, so that characters can transfer between games. If you have any skills that can be transferred that match up in the new game, those will be ported over as well (though in GGO, it's without system assist, so it's based on your natural ability IRL).
Spoiler: show
^I don't remember any of this being explained at all, but apparently this stuff with the World Seed went down in the last episode of S1. http://swordartonline.wikia.com/wiki/World_Seed
Thanks for writing all of that stuff out.
This episode was literally 20 minutes of fucking nothing. I'm undecided if the end of the fight was fucking hilarious or badass.
They should have animated her finishing the shot a lot higher up. Him trying really hard to lift the minigun's angle up to hit her definitely looked like a minigasm though, lol. I'm rather happy they took the time to animate the entire fight rather than rushing anything. It introduced bullet line mechanics and how dodging bullets is a part of the game. And then we've also established how Sinon is while in the game. Next episode should be Sinon in real life, and her backstory? We'll see if those two personas are similar or different. Probably not going to see Kirito in GGO until episode 4.
I'm going to guess that the pacing for the show is going to feel slow, but the type of slow that when you go back and rewatch the episodes back to back to back (or just marathon it on the first watch) you're glad they didn't rush the pacing.
If they're going this slow .... so we're hopeful for a 24ep season rather than 12? Not touched it yet still lol
Well that was a pointless as fuck episode. Battle to establish the sniper chick should've been 5 minutes, not the whole thing.
I have a crunchyroll sub if anyone wants to watch this and doesn't feel like pirating or what have you
Spoiler: show
Sorry about that, thanks for the spoiler, Brill.
Not complaining, but after watching black bullet and brynhildr last season, this feels so slow.
