Lizards? Are you talking about the first season? Lizardmen are nothing unusual in a fantasy series, and SAO came before Log Horizon.

In S2E2 of SoA when they transistion scenes, sometimes they'd show a lizard crawling up a wall or something. I remember Log Horizon did the same thing. Was just wondering where that started.

Might have been ep 3 also. During the planning and assault of the PvE vs PvP groups.

Oh, I found what you're talking about. That was just a lizard on a rock in a wasteland. Nothing more, nothing less, lol. I imagine whenever it happened in LH was during a desert scene or something too. Just think of it like an american western showing a tumbleweed before the camera moves on to the people.

Watching this after Sailor Moon Crystal makes me feel bad. The level of animation in this A-1 Production vs Toei's Sailor Moon Crystal is just unreal.

It's worth watching but it definitely starts up slow. Don't expect much progression until the 4th episode.

A perfect scenario would be waiting until it gets about 10 to 12 episodes in if you can manage it.

Mmmmm, this episode was great. Very very satisfied. They probably could have done the sao flashback a bit better, but it was good enough for me.

Yeah, the flashback was definitely dull, but there wasn't much to go on from the light novel, so they winged it and made it longer than it read.

They actually left out the fact that Kirito knows who the leader of Laughing Coffin is -- PoH. PoH was the guy that was seen at the scene where Grimlock was found guilty of killing is wife. He was also around to see Kuradeel's duel with Kirito, and invited him into Laughing Coffin after his defeat, then taught him how to use poisons to try and kill Kirito. The massacre of Laughing Coffin members happened about 2 months before Kuradeel's death.

Agreed with the Ep 6 hype. It made me want to go back and rewatch the SAO arc of season 1 because I only vaguely remember these Laughing Skull guys. I'm really liking Sinon.

Hope you do, she gets more development than Asuna does in the series despite her and Kirito having a purely platonic relationship

I had really low hopes for ep 6 once the Kirito angst / SAO flashback started; thought it would be another filler episode. The last 15 minutes were great though; surprised they got two matches in.

Yeah as an anime only watcher I have to say this is moving a lot faster than I anticipated. Figured the tournament would've taken a lot longer. I'm okay with it though. Last 3 episodes have been way more enjoyable than the first 3.

Has anyone read the LNs and are they recommended? I just found out that Vol 1 was translated to English with Vol 2 coming out in 2 weeks. I was thinking about swinging by BN on my lunch break to pick it up.

The LNs are definitely better than the show, although they're doing a really good job with this arc. But imo, the writing for the SAO arc isn't that good. Especially since a majority of the story is short stories added in volumes 2 and 8. (Although some of those short stories are worth reading, since the anime skipped some of them.)

Episode 7 sucked, but episode 8 is going to be pretty awesome I think. Someone freeze me until next Saturday.
