185 for last week, but yea 150 is about average. Went a few extra places. Even getting a ride home from school one day, still managed to put 185, though I wish I turned it down now, woulda been 200 :/

It's always worth going to court. Even if they won't allow traffic school the off chance of the cop not showing to the following date by pleading not guilty or typically (at least in cali) if you plead no contest they will reduce the cost of the fine. Up to you to decide though if it's worth the time.

This is 100% accurate. Have had two speeding tickets ever, went to court for both, cop didnt show for either, and got both completely thrown out. My parents always go as well and can at least typically get it reduced to a fine only.

Just to revive the thread:

Was driving from Greenville, SC to Tampa, FL. I had been driving nonstop for about 6 hrs, south of Jacksonville on 301. I was looking at my GPS to figure out when I was supposed to turn to head to I75. I had seen the "speed trap" warnings a few miles back, but I wasn't paying as close attention to the signage as I should. I still had cruise set at 60 (it was 55mph for the last dozen miles miles) when the cop got me for 60 in a 45 in the town of Waldo. I was one of 3 people that was pulled in the same parking lot. I know I fucked up; I'm not trying to say I wasn't speeding. What shocked me is that the ticket is for $244 and 3 points. What the fuck. My last ticket was almost 10 years ago for just $72 for 12 over (was written down to 9-over).

So the question is, what do I do. I can't exactly burn 2 days to drive back down to florida for the court date. And having to just pay it by mail is a crock of shit. Is it worth hiring one of the local traffic attorneys to try to get out of the points?

Also, anybody in/near Tampa? Where is good to eat?

Arrigatos is usually hit or miss (either hear great things or terrible things about it, never any in between), but I love the place. Def worth checking out, in my opinion (based on the st pete location, haven't been to the tampa or clearwater ones)

Guess Montreal is ahead of the game...cops dont have to show up, the city appoints a lawyer in their stead, and if you go to court and lose, your fine is doubled.

If you get a speeding ticket, get a lawyer. It's that simple.

I've had three speeding tickets; 80 in a 55, 78 in a 55, and 57 in a 45. Two failure to stop at a stoplight and a careless and wreckless (doing doughnuts in a parking lot). The three speeding tickets paid to my lawyer cost 350$ each, failure to stop was 295$ and careless and wreckless was 305$. I don't have a single point against my license and I plan to keep it that way, regardless of how many tickets I may or may not get.

My seat isn't the most comfortable thing in the world, but I've always been able to adjust my junk. Just uncomfortable on the butt cheeks.

I got a speeding ticket (while in GA) driving my friend's car from GA to Miami (his license was suspended); I must have been driving around at least 80-85 mph or something on the I-75; shit cost around 700 bucks, no joke. Since I never planned on going back to GA, I just said "fuck that" with Yao Ming face and everything, and never bothered to pay for it. The two speeding tickets I managed to get in FL (90 on a 55 and 110 on a 75) combined didn't even amount to 700. GA is serious business.
