Glad I switched hosts and transferred all my domains two years ago. Godaddy is crappy service anyway. It's true though that most people don't really know about the politics, they just want their site to be up. It's like why people still buy Dell. Decent computers and they have good customer service. Consistency is what people are willing to settle for these days.

No they don't literally own the whole market. They own 20% of all domain names. This is an extremely large chunk compared to what others have, tho.

@Kurokikaze Does GoDaddy customer support get any training? Now I am sure this doesn't apply to all reps. I work at another registrar, and the things customer have told me that GoDaddy reps have said seem like pure ignorance and basic lack of knowledge about hosting and domain registration.

GoDaddy can eat a major dick sandwich with a side of jizz. Shitty service that isn't even internet noob-friendly, it survives purely off of brand-recognition. Unlike buying a Dell or Apple for the perks of ease of access and customer service.

I had a domain with them 6 or 7 years ago and cancelled them after a few months of dealing with their garbage setup. 2 months later, I magically get charged for renewal and that shit caused a bunch of overdrafts and headaches that had me fucked up financially for no reason.

you have any idea how many godaddy resellers there are that operate under their own domain as a registrar but are selling the exact same godaddy products? how many of their customers even know their is affiliation with godaddy? shit between just them and wild west domains they own over 30% of the market.

Again, most small companies are going to go with a pretty well known name like godaddy. I've used it several times. Is it great? No. Is any other hosting company "great"? No. Taking down godaddy when a majority of their customers are small businesses is fucking stupid. It's like the same stupid shit with Chick-Fila.

I usually support anon but this was uncalled for. I built a website for my mother and my aunt who teach classes on textile arts and also go to trade shows to sell their work. Their clients usually sign up and get their information through their website so this so called attack hurt more of the small business owners that anon usually fights for.
