Yeah sure it seems like overkill after you finished getting all your shit lol

I'm not finished... I just got severely bored of watching a massive lagfests, checking a rock, and getting stuck in massive teleportation server bottlenecks. I gave up before I even heard of that last emergency fix.
You could make a guaranteed 6k/hour doing nothing, it was worth it even if you could only check the stone once.
18:00 -> ppl kill, get cluster, tele home, exchange -> 0:00 ppl kill, get cluster, etc -> dick around for 45 mins -> repeat
Wow got 5 checks in O,o Quickness>5>5>5>7 Didn't think it was possible.
Spoiler: show
Well, I hope nobody was counting on these clusters for a raise item, because that's out of the question now.
So what are the spawn times in-game for each location? Maybe it's been mentioned already, but it's a 10 page thread.
Orange/Red Aetherytes: Killable Atomos pops at 18:00 and again at 0:00 (game time - due to server lag it can appear as late at ~10 minutes into the game hour) at all five camps (sometimes he won't spawn at a camp or two, but it's a rarity). He and his minions will depop approximately three hours (game time) later if he hasn't been killed, even if he is currently engaged. This Atomos type, when killed, will drop the Voidstone (NPC) which you can examine (multiple times) for rewards. Thankfully, his minions depop when he is killed.
Blue Aetherytes: Old style Atomos pops at 6:00 and again at 12:00 (game time) at all five camps. He and all his minions will depop after approximately three hours (game time). This style of Atomos occasionally spawns a bunch of monsters around the camp, which can be killed for Overaspected Crystals. This only real use for this mode is to complete that one quest in Ul'dah.
Atomos wanders and spawns at some of the camps, Brittlebark and....Ever Lakes I believe (it's one of the Coerthas camps, had R60+ raptors nearby) are 2 that I've observed personally but as I mentioned before idk if the moving/mob spawning is something he always does if left alone long enough or if he just does it at certain camps.
Referring to the targetable Atomos..es (Atomosi? Atomi?), just to be clear.
Atomos is a single entity that exists everywhere and everywhen and has no plural! (just my opinion)
He spawns at all 5 camps at same time and stays up for 3:15 gametime. If there is no one at a camp to hold his attention, he wanders. The way almost everyone does it on Gugnir is: A) Start at Glory and kill on pop, B) Tele to Bluefog and chase him down to kill or sometimes he stays in camp, C) Tele to Brittle and do same thing as Bluefog. During JP time I could get all 3 done np; now, we're having more trouble doing Brittle as well. Too many people on shitty jobs. JP time was like all BLM and WHM and it was dying in like 30 seconds. Not being a weeaboo, just that's how it was.
Wandering doesn't have anything to do with claim. He can start moving while in the middle of being attacked (multiple times, although DPS rarely lets him do that anymore). He can be up, unclaimed, and depop all while sitting over the aetheryte. It seems to be random.
Been doing this for a few hours, it's so laggy it's annoying. I've yet to get more than 3 checks, always get cut off on the 4th. Even with F12 it can be hard to target the rock for some reason.
The server hasn't even gotten 3 kills yet while I've been doing it and is so disorganised with the locations that I sometimes miss the second due to the group splitting.
But it seems better than caravan still.
So now that I'm racking up seals, which of the GC weapons are worth buying? Obviously relics are better than all of them but I don't intend to get all 7 relics. I've not even finished hamlet yet.
Edit: There's so much shit for sale at the GC you could spend hours figure out what's good and bad. I'm in Ul'dah's btw.
The general hierarchy is Relic > Garuda > Lieutenant weapons* but that's a very broad generalization.
Uldah's weapons are essentially superior Ifrit weapons, but not having acc on them means you need to make up for it somewhere else (getting the set bonus for the acc isn't always feasible) but for BRD the Flame bow is the shit since they get more mileage out of ATK than other jobs and don't need the ACC.
*depending on what you consider reasonable, giantsgall weapons with enough melds factor in somewhere in there
Interesting. I can't imagine getting any Garudas so may as well stock up on these. Does that hierarchy apply to mage weapons too? I'm still using a thunder brand on my BLM...
What about the armour? I know that melee belt is really good. Keep in mind I've no darklight stuff.
Mage weapons are a whole different beast and hinge on you being able to trigger their extra stats from wearing enough company gear. For a member of the Immortal Flames like yourself, the THM wand could be good if you're in dire need of magic accuracy I guess.
As far as armor goes, it drastically varies between companies.
• Ul'dahn Officer's Coat and Cap are great mage pieces, if you can have Sanction on.
• The Officer's hands are a decent PLD piece.
• The Officer's boots could be decent if you keep sanction up (because MNK/DRG AF shoes are mediocre)
or if you simply need another piece of gear to trigger the bonus on other gear.
• The Flame Sash is the belt melee belt in the game, but you've mentioned that one.
• The Ul'dahn crafting gear used to be the best in the game, but I'm not 100% sure of that anymore -- if not, it's still really good, the only downside is you can't meld onto it.
• The Flame Sergeant's Target is good for mages (and great for triggering other flame gear for mages).
• The Flame Sergeant's Ring looks good, but you'd have to ask someone more in tune with the math to see whether +20 attack beats out +18[stat] (it probably doesn't), but if you need it to trigger other gear bonuses, it's useful.
• The hose look good, but whether or not you'll want them depends on your other gear.
• The earrings are a cheap alternative for WHMs.
• The choker is decent for nuking, but perhaps not the best (I don't know).
Note: I'm in the Maelstrom, so this is just random musing about your potential gear options. I don't have any firsthand experience with it.
Thanks. Some good info there. Looks like I'm going to need a shitload of crystals.
It's much easier to break down what pieces and sets are worthwhile by job than just in general, due to things like melds and what slots they can go in.
Also be wary of sanction bonus stuff, if you use it you'll always need a backup piece anyway. A lot of the bonuses are great but they're always gonna be situational which means you need a non-sanction dependent piece either way to stand in when you die and lose the buff.
Also I will say that not enough people appreciate Explorer's moccasins.
fuck sanction gear.
