I'll spare the thread the Alderaan speech comparison and simply say that, as a carpenter, that makes me sad.

(>.>) Also reinforces my conviction as to how I'll be spending the entirety of this week. Click, click, click, click, click, click, click... at least the requisitions officer at the Hall of Flames is cute and bubbly. Makes it slightly less annoying to stare at the wall all evening while buying Dawn Drops.

Better sell the arrows then. The Econ. been f'ed up. They should just delete all the gil. But if its 1/10 of gil you have that would be cool.

That won't help as NPC sell/buy prices were also going to be subject to the 1/10 cut.

Later on, yes, after the damage has already been wrought. (o.0 ) Those who participate in Clickageddon will be spared. Those who do not, well...

    It's like that. <______<

People keep saying this, but I've seen no indication of it other than pure assumption. Hopefully that recent Yoshi-P post will clarify things.

I assumed the redenomination was merely to lessen the gap between new players and old ones. Even at 10% of my gil value (and no, I don't participate in the clickmageddon) I could still function just fine with the NPC prices / gil rewards / everything remaining as-is.

I'm with a few others though, and I'd rather them just wipe gil at this point.

I can't think of anything I actually buy from NPCs to begin with.

If not for economic reasons, dividing everyone's gil (NPCs/Quests/Leves/Players/etc.) will at least make the game's currency as a whole appear less inflated.

There's no difference between having 1mil gil, spending 100k gil on an item and having 100k, spending 10k on the same item. However, the latter makes earning gil feel that much more significant, even if it's not.

Just knock the last two digits off of every price and reward and the economy just looks better to the average player starting out. They haven't really got a feel for how much value gil holds yet, and it's better they see the high-end prices being in the 6 digits rather than 8.

This is all true and I concur with the validity of the decision.

*~* Now we need to make them comprehend how they're actively murdering us poor folk with Weimar Republic a la Eorzea via Atomos. Simple solution: remove NPCables from GCs.

    No muss, no fuss!

Errr no. You make more money if you sell the crystals instead of trading them in so that's not a solution lol.

If you're referring to the supposed inflation of materia prices as of late, Atmos actually isn't the cause, but is instead Yoshi-P's announcement of denomination. Shortly after the announcement during the live letter, people who had tons of gil went on a materia buying rampage, turning their gil into items to hopefully capitalize on the opportunity by selling said items at 2.0 relaunch and hence driving up the current prices. Most of the JP complaining/concern on the issue of denomination in this thread is about that specific topic.

Compared to how much gil was in the game before Atmos due to them unbalanced leves, this event is but a drop in the ocean. Not that I'm denying the fact that it's a good way to make gil, provided you're willing to dedicate your time to it. But judging from the fact that I see only 10 people or so in front of the GC counter, I'd say it's almost a non-issue.

With just a month and a half left in the game, there are many other things I would rather be doing than something boring as that.

If you remove the Dawn Drops and other sellables, crystal prices are going to tank. To boot, unless you're selling crystals for more than 21k/crystal (every time I've checked the sales average was around 20k/crystal on Durandal) you're selling at a loss.

But that is of no consequence, sir. Selling crystals to another player does not create gil - it transfers it.

EDIT: The issue at hand is the creation of a massive amount of gil in an exceptionally short period of time. However much existent money changes hands between however many folks is largely irrelevant in terms of price accessibility for the common schmoe, it is merely changing hands - none has been added, or subtracted, from the total cash quantity on the server. (o.O ) Massive artificial inflation, however, is very relevant indeed to all our interests.

To be honest, I didn't notice materia prices as much as everything else that has shot up in price post-Atomos event starting.

I thought about selling crystals, but they are at 12k on Durandal right now. I wasn't sure where people were getting their 20k number from.

Was 20k when I checked, but that was Thursday or Friday. Part of the translation is up from Reinehart. I'll edit the post when he finishes it or someone else will repost it I'm sure.

I have made an announcement that in 2.0 we will be decrease the gil by lowering the gils digit by 1 and would like to confirm this report. I have also mentioned this but we will put this out on Topics as well so please wait for the final details.

    1. Reward gil amount from contents/monster drop in 2.0 will be 1/10's value of current FFXIV
    2. Items sold at 1 digit gil will be adjusted in 2.0 or destroyed.
    3. (For those items that will be destroyed the gil will automatically returned but even at that time the amount returned will be 1/10's of current value)
    4. Due to the major changes in battle system, the value of items will vary from current and 2.0 FFXIV
    5. Current players gil will start with 1/10's at start time of FFXIV.

So all the effort you all put in to obtaining gil hasn't been lost.
Even if everyone's gil is reduced to 1/10's the amount of gil going out and Selling/Buying rate from NPC will also be 1/10's so nothing will change.
However this will inconvenience some emotionally, please accept my apology.

Also some may feel that "Money is going to be decreased!" but to continue operations for long term post 2.0 we would like to take measure where the players can feel values closer to reality than having something economically too high.

In 2.0 archer wont require arrows therefore we don't have to have the digit increased for the arrow price and decided to optimize. This is the reason behind it.
We have no other intentions of deleting players gil so wanted to make that part clear.

At the live we simply mentioned that the entire economy will also be 1/10's so there will be no loss. I apologize for not making it clear.

That reminds. Because I'm too lazy to completely translate Yoshi-P's latest post as I'm sure a official translation is forthcoming, as per usual I'll quickly translate and list a few notable points:

    - NPC item purchase/selling prices will be 1/10th compared to that of the current version and 2.0.

    - Gil rewards from in-game content and gil dropped from monsters will also be 1/10th.

    - Items in the current version that are being sold by NPCs for less than 10 gil (1 digit) will either be removed for repriced. If one is in possession of the items that are going to be removed, it will automatically be converted into gil, but at 1/10th of the normal price in the current version.

    - Because of the changes in the battle system in 2.0, values of different items will change.

    - All player's current gil will be reduced to 1/10th in 2.0.

    - In 2.0, ARCs (and probably BRDs) will no longer need/use arrows.

    - One of the major reasons behind this denomination change is because of arrow-selling NPCs. Gil had to be artificially inflated because arrows needed be sold cheap. With the removal of arrows from the game in 2.0, gil will go back down to what it should've been from the start.

    - A player's best course of action to this denomination change is to do 'nothing'. Even if one were to convert their current gil into items in the hopes that they could reprice and sell them at a higher prices, because of the changes to the battle system there is also the risk that the item in question may no longer prove to be in high-demand. It is ultimately the player's responsibility if they want to risk this or not.

Edit: Bleargh. Nice timing there, TacoTaru. I will confirm that Reinheart's translations pretty much covers what Yoshi-P said.

So I was right about them removing some items from the game. ARR will just auto-NPC them for you! Works for me.
