CPR will make a living in 2.0 building houses for people, obviously. Good thing I'm working on my HQ abilities so I can make myself a Lalafell McMansion.

So we dont loose 10% of gil
we keep 10% of gil lol
I suppose it wouldn't really be the end of the world if there were not some economic consequences in the mix.
Bring on the Meteor, baby!
Well shoot, I'm going to eat my hat. I was so sure that nothing was going to be removed, not even useless dated ingredients. If one is in possession of the items that are going to be removed, it will automatically be converted into gil, but at 1/10th of the normal price in the current version.
Now if only they would give us a list of stuff to be removed...
Well we know dated 'gear' is going to be around 2.0 (As unique/untradeable legacy gear potentially), my guess its NPCing obsolete recipe material and if the Arrow information is true it might also mean arrows getting NPCed as well. Basically getting rid of items that have no purpose in 2.0 and can't even be used other then the novelty of it taking up inventory space which in the end is fine by me, I have enough issue trying to figure out what can and can't be used in the future through my retainers, it would nice for an auto clean out at the start of game so I can focus more on what I can use.
All of that sounds fantastic. I especially like the getting rid of arrows part. What I want them to do is introduce ammo (that isn't usable) but is instead worn as a stat stick on ARC/BRD. Could bring back Bloody Arrows, Elemental Arrows etc. Equip one in the slot and you're good to go.
As for the economy... I've been participating in clickageddon (nice name btw) since I read about it here on Saturday... I'm up a total of 7.2m and am starting to feel like the more you make the less it is. Can't make money fast enough to keep up with inflation. I'm going to make another 1-2m and just stock up on mats (hides, nuggets, etc) and hold till 2.0. I'm north of 21m (will be 2.1m) at the moment and I feel thats a good starting point for me in 2.0.
I sold my PLD's militia choker 2 days before Atomos event for 5m and last sale was 7m with some up for 10m. Before the event you could find 6-7 Rainmaker's Tunics (without melds) up at any given time... the only ones that remain for sale are double/triple melded ones that have been marked up. This is happening with a lot of items, but where I feel that it's gotten really bad is on materia prices. PIE/STR/Enmity/HP/Heaven's Eye have gone up. It's gotten absurd. lol
I would imagine just up and nixing all the dated items/recipes from the game completely would ease up on the sheer number of items the game has to recognize (item IDs and inventory).
I seriously, seriously doubt they're going to go thru the trouble of ra/ex-ifying all of the vast amounts of -completely- worthless gear (and their 4 color variants) just so people can have souvenirs.
Not to mention the only reason they would ever choose that option is because of the handful of complete morons over on the official forums that started crying over the idea of losing their precious (worthless) Dated Cotton Tunic (Pink) +2s.
Hey now, there are some serious memories in those Dated Cotton Tunic (Pink) +2s.
Hater! D:
I was afraid of that. I suppose I've little choice but to convert most of my cash into supplies, and try to milk 'em come 2.0. >.> Yay.As for the economy... But that's exactly what was said by Yoshida (That dated 'gear' would not get removed from the game and contemplated just making it untradeable so it couldn't reenter the market). Plus there is still some gear that has no equal "aesthetically" from the dated equip, not to mention almost all of them are optimal/favored gear rather then class and level required which make them good town gear, I still constantly wear my canvas doublet (blue) all the time when I craft in the lower levels because I can use it on any crafting class and it looks decent.
Hey, I've still got a very strong attachment to the original miner gear:
I just wish I hadn't spiritbonded it!
At this point, I do actually wish they'd remove it from the game entirely, to clean house of sorts. I'd be really nice to not have to keep all the data around for it, not only in-game, but also on websites like mooglebox.
Hot damn, I haven't seen that helmet in ages.
I think Dated equipment is likely to stay in the game, but be R/EXed.
It's all the Velveteen Doublet Front (Indigo) and Walnut Polearm Handle stuff that needs to be force NPCed.
Get rid of it all as it serves absolutely no purpose. They're not good stat-wise, they're not worth money, are just extra shit that clutters inventory and that fan sites have to keep track of.
If it serves no purpose in 2.0 then NPC/destroy it and be done with it.
I guess they'll probably just convert all the +2/3 stuff to +1? I had been holding onto my Skull Eyepatch (Black) +3 'cause I thought it was cool.
The old crafted equipment aside from the obvious few novelty santa hats and the like wasn't designed and implemented so you could run around looking good.
By that logic all equipment before the gear rehash was designed for fashion and not function. It was certainly designed poorly and stat distribution was stupid as shit much of the time (which is why it was rehashed to begin with) but it wasn't vanity gear (nvm that every gear model used then now has a non-dated iteration afaik).
I think, at most, there might be some color/material combinations no longer available in non-dated equipment... if I recall correctly.
Still, it is indeed pretty obvious that holiday items were made to be unique and festive and this does not apply to any "dated" equipment whatsoever. "Dated" crap is now just an item database nightmare.
