Okay, but aren't they?
How many examples of Christian vs. Islamic terrorism have there been in the last few decades?
How about large violent protests at the embassies of Islamic nations (ignoring that there are plenty of reason to protest them apart from religion)?
Statistically, are they more likely? I haven't quantified the number and severity of incidents internationally over the last few decades, but I'm going to have to compare the dozens of international Islamic incidents I can think of to the handful of small Christian incidents (particularly immediately after 9/11) that spring to mind and guess that they are.
I think you're taking what I said out of context. If I knew Scientologists were prone to violence and that my mocking of them would likely cause some sort of violent response, then I wouldn't at all be surprised by rioting and violence.
You're approaching this far too subjectively. Your logic is almost painful, actually. You're idealizing this as if the people who made this video are just exercising free speech and that's all.
Except that isn't the case. They knew precisely the sort of reaction that this would cause and yet they acted anyway. They do not deserve to be blamed and should not be held responsible for the deaths of others nor should they be held responsible for the reactions of the Muslim extremists but they SHOULD have exercised better judgment and responsibility with their freedom.
As far as the nigger parable is concerned, I wouldn't say it isn't the black guy's fault for punching but I am saying if you go into a neighborhood and start shouting "LOL NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER ALL BLACK PEOPLE ARE NIGGERS DON'T GET MAD I'M JUST EXERCISING MY FREE SPEECH" and you think nobody is going to get pissed off and shoot you, you're a fucking idiot.
Yes, clearly the people who would shoot you are fucking retarded but for as many people that are ignorant about the consequence of their words and actions there are just as many people ignorant of that ignorance. That is to say - you cannot say that ignorance only works in one direction. While the people who committed the murders in Libya are deplorable there are probably quite a few who are ignorant of the idea of a joke. My point is that we hold them accountable for actions to which they hold ignorance of the consequences yet we do not do the same to the people here.
I'm not at all suggesting we hang the asshole for making a video. I'm also not suggesting we stop making videos. I do think the problem lies with intolerance and unfortunately it will never end. We can't just go "Well we're America and we practice free speech so fuck you and get over it" because that will just piss them off more.
Am I making my point clear or should I just stop?
To be honest, I don't know. There's a difference between civilized behavior and uncivilized that I'm not sure lies within a person's religion so much as it does their environment and resources. How many examples of Christian vs. Islamic terrorism have there been in the last few decades?
How about large violent protests at the embassies of Islamic nations (ignoring that there are plenty of reason to protest them apart from religion)?
we're not going to alter one of the bedrock principles of our nation, one so highly valued it is considered a necessary precondition for nearly every democracy on earth, because it will "just piss them off more"
fuck em. let them be pissed off. get over it. we let neo-Nazis march in a God damn community filled with Holocaust survivors we're not going to be intimidated into silence and censorship because of these fanatics
the movie is patently idiotic and immature and inflammatory and discriminatory to be sure. none of that matters
You're conveniently ignoring that the environment these people live in is largely created by their near-theocracies/theocracies. There is a reason that the Middle East is the bottom of the barrel instead of the top of the world, and it has less to do with their environment/natural resources than with the full-scale rejection of knowledge/scientific learning of the late middle ages that has persisted up to the present. They're still experiencing the equivalent of the Catholic Dark Ages.
I think it's fair to assign the Dark Ages to Catholicism, because they persisted until splinter religions (the rest of Christianity) started to form and occurred across all Catholic countries, not just within one governance. Similarly, the current Islamic Dark Ages exist across almost all Islamic areas regardless of government. They need a Renaissance, but I'm not sure it's coming yet.
I'm hunting wascawy muswims.
KILL 'EM ALL
It's so funny.
Back in jan 09, I got embedded with a British marine unit for a 3-4 day mission into the Helmand province of Afghanistan. On the 2nd day we were relaxing in this abandoned qualat, and I realized something. If we rolled into this area with 20-30 generators, flat panels, and Wii's. We would probably be done in afghan within 6 months. These folks have idle minds. Those minds are exploited by religions and the leaders of those religions. All they've ever known is that fucking book and the people who interpret the book for them. It's horrible.

They also have a Muslim angry birds. Their birds are airplanes and you launch them into buildings that have pink fat American or green Jewish pigs in them.
It has been confirmed that the maker of the video is not Jewish but is in fact a Coptic Christian.
11 countries so far protesting with more planned tomorrow.
