    What does this mean...?

Up and running with the Wii U. ID is Doombear. Add that shit (and let me know who your ass is!), going to play the bejesus out of this game on Wii U in 3 weeks. Hell, I just ordered a circle pad pro for a 3DS that isn't even mine, and plan on Gameflying the 3DS version for a solid few months as well. WHY NOT?!

When I did the ice mob he kept sliding near zones and just fighting the 2 npc there

But he was behind the zone line

So when I got to him it made me zone
When I go back he restarts on the npc behind the zone like so that I can't reach him

I have to zone out wait 30sec for him to move then go back in

AHH! Gotcha. Tip for you, there are icons for each of your companion NPCs on the touchpad. Tapping them will make you whistle at them, which calls them back to you. Handy to pull them off of a monster when you want to lure the monster into a shock trap or something. On the PSP it was done by pulling up the menu and pressing select or something if I recall. Now you can just set the action to the touchscreen. Pretty handy for your situation too.

Maybe I just suck with the slower weapons, but I find the Sword/Shield, Dual Blades, and Hunting Horn to be really good.

I don't see a use for Block, as running and rolling seems ideal. The slow melee weapons make me feel so clunky, and it takes forever to get a swing off.

I'll try practicing more with them I guess.

demo was kinda hard to understand since it really didnt explain how to do anything. I assume when you get the game there is a tutorial? Also, do bows just really suck in this game? lol I usually like being a ranged dealer but didnt seem that great in the demo.

From what I have seen in people streaming the game over the past few months the bows have the potential to be very powerful. But its just like any weapon. Its only as good as its user.

Nonononononono. This isn't a sissified game like we have these days with tutorial levels and everything handed to you. You gotta figure stuff out. In the beginning you don't really hunt large mobs so you can get used to and comfortable with a weapon. Bows are pretty good. It might not feel like you're doing much, but you usually are.

Well i didn't mean to make it "sissifed". I just had no idea what any of the buttons do or if you could lock on or anything like that, lol.

I figured out later how the hell you aim with the bow, lol. Id assume its better to use a bow in a group set up since someone would do more of the tanking? That or I guess each weapon has its own strategy to figure out.

Guess it was hard to see if I was doing any damage since the mobs don't have a health bar or anything.

I liked it when i started to figure it out, i guess it just takes some time to get used to the game play.

Sorry, I just hate what games have become these days. That's why I loved XI, this and Dragon's Dogma. It throws you in like old skool games and there all like "Figure it out." lol.
Bow is a pretty good group weapon. One of the most appealing things about the bow are the different ammo types. Land that para or poison or even sleep in a difficult fight, you'll gain praise. Also good to keep up DPS on asshat mobs like Plessy when they go diving and swimming all over the place.

Yeah, I get you. Ill just play around with each class some more to see what I feel good at. Hopefully I wont suck to bad when it comes out.

What difference is there between bow and the 2 gun type classes?

I'm not sure how if this is only for 3DS or Wii U but there is a way to access the game manual:

Hit the home button and go to manual. I was able to find a decent explanation of the controls and HUD there. They also describe how different weapons attack.

Heavy Bowgun: Heavy Bowgun is a powerful bowgun that allows you to keep distance to deal damage and defend yourself as well thanks to the shield attachment. The ammo here is pretty powerful, and with the different ammo types you can fight almost any type of mob. You'll find some mobs to be "squishy" and others to be solid as a rock. Various ammo types can exploit their weaknesses. Drawback is that it's HUGE, so you run really slow. Very limited mobility.

Light Bowgun: Basically the same as a heavy, but as you might guess, lighter. You'll get more mobility here, but less firepower.

The Gunlance should be pretty self explanatory.

Indeed... this was the one that caused me the most grief.

"Powerful, tamed monsters cause people to lose EXP. Alone, This isn't a major issue for Beastmaster, but it may be for parties"

However, it also started a hell of a fun ride lasting a few years where I soloed to 75 with BST, and then soloed many more jobs with /BST. Hmm, maybe that is why I love MH solo so much. Beasts In The Sack LS for life!

That is exactly why I love Monster Hunter. Exactly.

i had to learn to love MH solo since no one i know played Unite beat the online questing hall as well yet people seem to think its impossible, not impossible but most quests take 45 mins to solo

I think I am going to force myself to only use switch axe in the beginning of 3U. I only ever used it a couple times in Tri and I wasn't comfortable with it. I tried it in the demo once so far and I think I could really get the hang of it.
