is the 3ds version basically a port of this or is it a port of Portable 3rd? (i'm getting both anyway i just want my cats in spiffy armor!)

3DS ver coming here is actually Tri G that released only in Japan. Both games are updates of Tri with additional content. 3rd's flagship mon is in Ultimate too it would seem.

Cannot wait. I don't know how much I can read into him doing a 9 Star Guild Quest solo, but I really hope they did away with the BS roadblock style of Urgents. Meaning, I hope they let me torture myself and I have a shot at soloing the entire thing. Nothing against grouping for this game, it is a goddamn blast. But having to rely on others to pass parts of it (first Jhen in Tri) makes me sad.

Not loving the non-kerned, super spaced text for any player entered names (Character, Cha-Cha, Equip sets) and maybe that gets changed in the final build, but it is a extremely minor gripe.

i was able to do the online G rank solo on Unite (hadn't a choice

) but from what people have said G rank is still easy mode compaired to older games

Ever since its release in Japan last year, Capcom have been supporting Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate with downloadable high-rank quests to keep giving players more things to do. There’s quite the list of them.

We got in touch with Capcom USA to ask if download quests will be made available for the western release of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate as well, and the good news is that they will.

We also asked if the Wii U version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate would support the option to play the game on the Wii U GamePad’s screen, rather than the television, and unfortunately, it will not. The Wii U version does, however, allow you to rearrange your UI on the GamePad, just like the bottom screen in the Nintendo 3DS version.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be released in the U.S. and Europe in March 2013. Both versions will support cross-play and cross-saving. The Wii U version will also allow for online multiplayer.
