Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

I use the Gigginox Blademaster armor with my Mizar's Asterism. Status+2, Razor Sharp, Awaken, and you can gem in HG earplugs if you have a decent hearing talisman.

That is basically the last weapon and armor set you will ever need as a switch axe user.

Pulled out the Kelbi bow and went off into low rank yesterday. I was getting smacked around but I could save face because I was losing no health.

It's funny. I feel like you and I are pretty even when it comes to playtime, but you are so much more focused than I am. I have half of about 10 diifferent sets, 9 of every damn weapon path started and still... when it gets serious, and I need to kill something, I have the same damn Helios X/Z Set that I have had for days and days.

How much of your playtime is mining on your DS though? lol And yeah I get focused on games like this. Usually I get focused and burn out quickly but Monster Hunter is different. Takes a lot more for it to get stale for me. Tonight we shall murder some things in the face, for sure.

The I.Lagi in this quest is apparenly on 'roids and takes off like 3/4 of your health a hit. Should be fun!

Some people have both versions. If I owned a 3DS I'm sure I would. Dunno if you're privy but the Wii U version is the only one able to go online. 3DS is local co-op only.

Gonna open up a room and drive down the road and get me a burger or something. I'll be back shortly and hopefully someone will want to bust up some heads. If not I'll go do some event quests or something with randoms, lol.

Christ help us the event i.lagi hits hard, lol. He can and probably will one-shot gunners if they don't have decently upgraded armor. Ridiculously fun though, even if we went 0/3 on his ass.

Yeah, that sucked. I guess you CAN get multiples of the drops you need for that weapon. Rarely.

I play the 3DS version and love every second. I do wish I could play with others sometimes though.

I bought both versions since it came out right before a convention and I wanted to bring it along. Picked up the Circle Pad Pro too, became second nature after playing the WiiU version after maybe a few fights. Would definitely recommend CPP for it.

I love it. It keeps me occupied when I'm commuting/have idle thumbs. This one of the few games where I don't mind the grind. Played with people once and they offered to help me rank up. Then they got bored and started quests I couldn't join. Nerds are just as bad irl as they aree online.

I should camp out at the Nintendo World Store one day.

Yea i made a room with some randoms(bad idea) went 0/7 lol. oh well i'll try again tomorrow. fyi he can 1 shot if your under about 450, so needs to be really upgraded if gunner lol

I started with Lance because it seemed well-rounded with the shield optionality, but I hated the limited attack range / combo system. And fuck that Goldenfish quest; caught the first two within 10 minutes then it took almost 30 minutes for a third one to spawn in the fish pool.

And a circle pad pro is going to be mandatory if I stick with this game. Fighting anything difficult underwater is impossible on basic 3DS controls as the camera and movement both have to be done by your left hand.

Monster Hunter is one of those games where if you want to do something, you need to jump into that shit balls first (with the exception of maybe ranged weapons because they are slightly technical to be really effective at it). However, to give actual helpful advice, I'd say Sword and Shield, Dual Swords and Lance would probably be good beginner weapons.

I think Long Sword is a noob-assed weapon but objectively speaking it's a solid choice. I only hate Long Sword because Great Sword and Long Sword users are mortal enemies. I cannot count the amount of times I'd go for a charged hit just to get knocked out of it because Sephiroth clone number 42 squared wants to go balls to the wall ALL the fucking time.

Hammer is all about positioning and intuition. It's a fun weapon but you can get owned real quick if you don't know what you're doing. (I use GS, Hammer, Bow because I am pretty brazen in almost everything I play)

I play without the Circle Pad Pro. At first it sucked dick but then I eventually got used to playing with just the on-screen D-Pad and I don't feel handicapped at all. It's all up to your personal preferences though.

The secret to the Goldenfish quest is to bring Goldenfish bait. You can finish that quest in 3 minutes easily. Most newbies wouldn't know that though. I sure as hell didn't.

Not just golden fish bait. You actually have to Use it in place of just pressing A to fish at the spot.

I gunned him with my narga X set which if memory serves has around 420 defense (cheating with the blade hat, but haven't fully upgraded it, lol). Only carted once out of our 9 total carts and that one was on a lightning blast I totally misjudged and it did it's bullshit half circle reacharound and tickled my heel as I was pouring ammo down his throat. He's doable but christ he hits hard, lol. I still want his gunlance.

I play without the Circle pad add-on. The option to be able to have the camera focus on the monster rather than your back when you press L has been more than enough to get me through G rank. It is all preference in the end though.
