I'd be interested in playing again. School's out for the semester, so I'll be available evenings. I left off HR7 and was never able to get anywhere with those monsters, but I'd be happy to play and help people raise HR/gather materials.

I'll add you as well, Galois. I'll focus on ranking up since I'm only HR3
thanks Wett, I don't mind making more than one. I'll aim for Blade of Tartarus and use that to get mats for other weapons
also is the old lady the only way of getting bomb casings? I want to make shock trap materials for capture quests, it's a pain when the monster leaves the area I placed the trap and won't come back
Just saw this is on sale at Gamestop, so gonna go pick it up today:
http://www.gamestop.com/wii-u/games/...Is4tDRnfgQEy3Q
If your gamestop doesn't have it (or you don't want to shop there), can always try Target (as the 3DS thread has recently made so evident)~
Christmas can't come soon enough, so I can play on 3DS when I'm away from home
Can you play with WiiU players on 3DS?
Not by normal means (aka online)
haven't had an opportunity to play online with anyone yet, but as I'm reading through the thread (page 11 at 50ppp) I have a question to clarify..
does this mean no one can help me with my offline quests? (eep)
at this point I have no idea how I'll kill a Lagiacrus when the time comes
I hope that's true :) I never did reach that point on PSP
It'll get easy to predict their attacks. There is a decent jump in difficulty once you hit the high rank quests in single player too. Make sure you have upgraded your weapons as best you can in the lower ranks and get some good armor skills. I like the Volvidon armor for Evasion+1 and you can usually get it up to Attack Up (M) too. Evasion+1 increases the invincible frames a bit. Evasion Distance increase your roll distance; just to clarify.
Volvidon is easy to farm too. He's got a similar attack pattern to Azuros and the same size. I was able to take him down in 10mins or so when I was last playing.
Bring some Deodorant if you're gunna hit up Volvidon too, he's got that stink move that gives you a status effect which prevents you from using most of your items. Including Potions. Can kill ya if he's cheap about it.
thx toki and kadaj, I'll work toward that next, I think my Jaggi gemmed to 15 stun and attack (M) should function well enough to farm Volvidon
just need to do some Barroth to work on jawblade/giant jawblade toward tartarus
oh, does lasting power affect auto guard? I could swear I had auto guard charm, perhaps on starting armor or a mixmatch with that and some jaggi pieces before I finished the set
if not, I'm not sure what changed and I can't find where to equip charms
So this is my first Monster Hunter game. Just started playing today. Still getting used to it, but any suggestions for things I should be sure to do/not to do?
use rations at start of quests, it will increase your stamina bar
look into combining, there's all kinds of materials like blue mushrooms and herbs that you can make potions (add honey to this for mega potion) and this will restore health
use raw meat to make rare steak or well done steaks (play with the sound on and wait a heartbeat or 2 after the sound stops)
try not to discard anything, save your progress by sleeping in your bed, put extra stuff in your box in your room
I'm not a strong player, so I find great sword fairly easy to use (still takes getting used to) and be sure to upgrade your weapons and armor
edit: also, I've stayed in the village up to this point, still getting used to the controls and learning new monster behaviour patterns, it's easiest in the village
Hoard. Everything. Start paying attention to enemy attacks and their triggers (mostly bosses). Look up armor abilities and sets to prepare for your style of play (be it gunner, melee, or lancer). Same goes for certain bosses - you may want a different moveset but usually you will end up with the same sets at higher Hunting Ranks.
And yea, might want to consider getting good at cooking early on and convert all your raw meat to well-done steaks and get it over with.
