Oh, pretty mundane use really. I have way too much free time at work, so I will generally hunt out sets on Athena's ASST and dump them into (a scarily categorized) Evernote document. I love being able to jump right to that on my phone when I am on my 3DS too. I also have other docs there, Veggie Elder trades, maps, etc. Athena's tools and the Monster Hunter Dex also live in Dropbox... so those move around with me too. I think about this game entirely too much.
nicely done, I may join you in your alarming amount of dedication once I get high enough rank (and skill)
I've been searching basic stuff at work like 'where to find carpenter bugs' since I have 3 of 6 needed for Wroggi (not to mention villager resource request)
if I get to a point where your files would match anything I can obtain I may bug ya for a copy, that sounds like a great idea. Evernote is great for having stuff at the ready on phone and PC simultaneously. I wish I could have Athena's on my work PC, I may start bringing a USB to work again and run files from it if that will work
getting my CPP tomorrow, arranged it through kijiji since someone swiped my delivery off my doorstep from amazon (amazon refunded me so it's fine but a hassle)
I don't see why it wouldn't as I run the programs just fine out of Dropbox. There is no install for that or MHDex, just settings/data files. Oh and in case you didn't see a post a while back of mine, MH Dex is a supremely handy thing on the desktop, but there is also the Android App!
3DS version is on sale at gamestop:

Android app is missing a lot of items etc info, I did see your post earlier and bookmarked it, thank you
I just play MH less at home, that's why I was excited about the 3DS version and CPP and Hunters meetup in Toronto
anyone around for online play? send PM
Snagged a used copy from Gamestop last night. Been wanting to give MH a try, and after reading up on the Wii U version, it just seemed the time was right. Wifey was busy watching DVR shit last night, so I have claimed the tv for myself this evening. Lots of good info in this thread which really helped me decide to throw down the cash for this. Good Merry Monster Hunting to all!
hope you have lots of fun with it
just beat Lagiacrus, did not think I had him and then he died, I was all out of mega potions, phew
Rookie question. I just got the 5 upgrade sphere's from the blacksmith. SHould I upgrade my starting armor, or can they be saved to upgrade armor I forge later?
save em for Jaggi armor
anyone available for online HR rank up? send pm pls. I'll be around tomorrow in the day too
Thanks, Howie.
Diggin the MH. My wife is pissed i have monopolized the TV lol
Just got this today for 3DS! I'm a MH noob and have no idea what I'm doing. Anyone wanna toss me some helpful resources? I'm combing through this thread but it's a doozy.
Make sure you don't have a cursed table. Also make sure you go online to get the free stuff (like starting with 5k resources).
General MH advice for new players is save everything. Ores and bugs and everything will generally end up useful. You won't know what you need until later.
Don't play drunk. I learned that last night after getting the quest to kill my first Great Jaggi.
No weapon is really better than another. Play with them all, and see what you like. So far, I am digging Dual Swords. Great Sword, Switch Axe, and even Long Sword just seem too slow to me, and have been hard for me to get the hang of.
Save everything, and make sure you stop by you hut to store stuff between quests and free hunts and such. You will be able to make your own stuff later on which will come in handy.
There are no levels per se, only upgrading of armor and weapons. You do get harder quests as you complete easier ones, and the monsters get bigger and bigger.
You will probably die, A LOT in the beginning (I know I have).
Check out the MH3U wikia, and even the gamefaqs FAQs. They have been helpful.
There's my random newb thoughts, as I've only been playing about a week now.
for charm tables I bookmarked this post by Doombear and googled the gamefaqs charm table sticky for specific times to aim for, be sure to have your wii U disconnected from the internet when you set system time
pretty excited with my own progress, managed to get to HR village, but now I need to stop putting off Port missions and get me some G rank access for Tartarus materials, had some trouble with that error code 106-0612 but I had taken my Wii U to a friend's house during the power outage in Toronto, hopefully it will work at home, I'll find out when I get home from family holidays on Monday
So I have this on 3ds, but was wondering about online capabilities. I have a Wii U, but I don't own the Wii U version of the game. Is there a way for me to play online without the Wii U version or no?
Basically trying to determine where to spend this amazon gift card burning a hole in my pocket.
Gotta have the Wii U version. Can transfer the data to the Wii U and play it on there instead.
Oh, I heard something about a lan adapter and a free download from the eshop. Oh well, guess I'll just play it solo.
got this for christmas i was a hardcore ph3 player / psp versions .... feels like hammer home. really debating on getting that 2nd analog stick attachment.
