got this for christmas i was a hardcore ph3 player / psp versions .... feels like hammer home. really debating on getting that 2nd analog stick attachment.

I was debating the circle pro pad too, but apparently the game is fine without it for the most part except underwater. I'll live. Gonna use dat money on another game instead.

Oh, I heard something about a lan adapter and a free download from the eshop. Oh well, guess I'll just play it solo.

Yeah you can use the Wii U to connect to online games, provided that you use a lan adapter. I've not personally tried it, but I know that you can't host games; you have to join a game hosted by someone on a Wii U, though I doubt that will be much of an issue.

played with some other 3DS users in person yesterday, some hunters in Toronto get together Thursday and Sundays at a video game shop with a LAN party space next door.

It was pretty fun, got to HR3 with some help and then I went home and played some online Wii U and I'm nearly HR4 short of single Plesi and Brachy urgent.

I didn't know 3DS could play co-op just by sitting next to each other, no wifi needed, that's pretty cool. Toronto seems to have a decent community and some hunters just get together and hangout to play, and never play solo. I'd like to be G-Rank by Sunday to finish my Blade of Tartarus GS and maybe start making other weapons, like Dual Swords, Hammers, Longswords, Hunting Horn or a ranged type

nearly hr6, been making a couple things while progress is slow, since Blade of Talos isn't that great to hold me over until Jhen Moran mats to upgrade Blade of Tartarus. Using Plesioth Waterblade right now, nice to actually have green (and soon blue) sharpness

taking a LOT damage in my LR volvi set but I don't want to sink armor stones into it, gonna make a mixed volvi/druramboros set, gonna try out rec. speed+2 instead of negate poison or speed sharpening. If it sucks I may just go AuL and Eva+2 instead of AuM and Eva+1 and weird 3rd skill. I can kinda gem in whatever though

question, do saved sets save which gems I put in? ie. would my sets regem the same armor for me?

Gems do indeed save in Custom Sets. It is super nice and relatively new. I will say that I wish there was a single button option to yank ALL GEMS from everything though, or at the very least when you are buying more I wish it would tell you how many you already owned even if they are equipped. It will show you amount owned but only tally those that are in your box not anything that is in a set if that makes sense.

finally got to HR8, jumped HR22 as soon as I did, back in the village dealing with key quests to get zinogre urgent in order for Argosy Captain to leave since he messes up charm sniping

made my blade of tartarus and helios zzzxz set and starting to actually use bombs and traps whereas I had skipped them before. Duramboros is usually my most frustrating monster but he was very manageable this time around, most likely due to being village 8* and not Tanzia.

met up with a Toronto hunter the other day and we duo'd my HR7 rank up aside from 2 remaining fights and the urgent. I noticed my skills getting better in those hours, now that I wasn't hanging back and simply trying not to die in my volvidon S versus G rank monsters. Getting one-shotted slows everyone down so I was trying to not interfere but I felt like deadweight and my skill progress suffered for a time

I'm hoping I can get the hang of charm sniping, have a bombardier, gathering+2, speed-gathering, spirit's whim leather set (with leather S waist and a bomb boost 7 charm). I'll know soon enough once I clear brachy and zinogre

really everyone higher than HR8 is only HR8 in a way, in terms of access to 8* G rank quests. The extra numbers add up based on the number of additional quests (on top of mere rank up quests) and with each quest having an assigned HR points value, your rank eventually goes up

you gain access to certain battles at certain HR ranks after HR8, I think the last of which is at HR100. I think there are only 4 or 5 battles after HR8 that require HR30, HR50, HR80 and HR100 or something similar, but there's no specific Key Quests or 9* quests or higher

I cleared Zin urgent and got Argosy out of town and I've been trying to charm snipe. From what I can tell I may have a strong cooking lock although I suspect it's a weak one. Thankfully my RN is falling in the neighborhood of about 197 and my target is 910 (Handicraft 5 FreeElement 7) so I'm glad I haven't overshot it or aren't 4000 away from it

Doom (or anyone else) you have any success charm sniping? It feels a bit like guesswork although my first 3 gathers are the same each run, so I should be somewhat on the right track.

I spent the better part of two days trying to snipe some charms on table 10. I got soooooo close to my target charms many times but was never able to snipe them. There are much better guides out there now though and have meant to go back and give it a shot... Good luck! It starts to drive you insane after a bit.

Charm sniping is too hardcore for me. I have a hearing +5 charm and thats good enough.

Almost at HR5 for online. Kinda slowed down progess since my hammer needs two Nicaraguan Brainstems and I have yet to get one.

yeah I gave up after a bit, it's not that hard to start up again now that I've figured it out, I just need some time when I can be in front of a computer for athena's charm search tool, as well as computer/phone for stopwatch as well as have my 3ds

I did it a few times at work but Wednesday I have a meetup with some hunters so I don't want to have my save in a state that I can't disturb it. I scored a charmer +7 talisman so I'll try later with 2 pieces of arzuros X, the rest leather/leather S hoping that bombardier will still kill me with one LBB+ when I have over 300 defense -_-;; I can probably get it lower if I make a 2 slot gunner weapon

my target was 910 and I hit 913 and 920, as well as 869 or so, Charm Chaser will probably screw up my timing but I'll see where I land anyway. I was at the point where I had to stay on the ledge and do nothing until 1:35ish after gathering and mining

apparently there's a ton of handicraft 5 charms, so maybe I'll do a more sloppy style of charm chasing and live without awakening for a while

I'm presently using helios zzzxz with sharp+1 hge crit draw, and i gem in either quick sharpening or bombardier, otherwise I go sharp+1 HGE eva+2

That sounds good. I've done a few of the missions, but just get creamed solo.

I can attest that someone on a 3DS can't play online when someone is playing online with the Wii U. My wife wanted to play when I was playing with Doombear and Wetticus last year.
