random praise: this game has the best horizontal and vertical gear progression system
Honestly the game is so complex it'll take me hours to explain all of it lol, there are plenty of youtube videos explaining the other stuff so I'll just explain the Nodes/trade route system part.
TLDR: You can invest in resource nodes, establish trade routes between big cities and nodes inbetween them. Send workers to gather resources on the invested nodes. You can also invest in buildings inside the cities using Contribution points, buy your own personal house, or use as storage, or make crafting stations/workshops for your workers, you can assign workers to build boats and wagons to connect to your horse and many other things.
Civ V gameplay part
Aside from your regular character level, you get Contribution Points level, for every level, you get 1 point. This point can be gained by doing quests. Probably 95% of the quests in this game doesn't get you character EXP, but it usually gives you Contribution points EXP and Combat skill EXP,and Knowledge.
These Contribution points you get, you can spend it by investing in "nodes", usually either Farms, Mines, Small villages, Forests, and Gate/Bridge checkpoints found in the world. By investing Contribution Points into a node, if available, you will get access to their resources, such as produce, ores, lumber (crafting mats basically). You'll still need to invest further on the actual resource node after you gain access to actually get them though. When you do, you can send workers to tend to these resources, depending on the worker race/type/level you'll get different yield at different rate. The workers have stamina bar, each task requires 1 stamina, and you need to continuously feed them throughout the game. Some race of workers like Giants have huge stamina pool and low speed, or goblin has low stamina pool but high speed. The the less stamina they have the more often you have to feed them, but the less amount of food it takes to feed them too. When you assign workers they actually go into the world and do it physically, so you'll see your workers running around in the world doing stuff.
Investing in nodes, you have to invest to nodes that are connected to your trade routes. Your first node investment will be next to a city. Since cities are safe place, you don't need to invest it in, every city you visited, you gain access to that city's nodes and every building inside of it (still have to invest further to gain access to the buildings). Once you invest in a node next to a city, you can invest in another node next to that node, and so on and so forth. If you connect your trade routes between cities, you can do trading between those cities, which is another beast to explain entirely.
There's still more to explain about nodes, but that's the gist of it, you can lookup more videos on youtube explaining other stuff.
Oh also, there is no trading between players whatsoever, and every item you sell is price-controlled according to the economy. Items you sell in the auction house have a minimum and a maximum price. Gears/Weapons are NOT bound to your character, you can sell it or have your alt use them. since the stat system is simple enough, most if not every armor is equipable by ANY job at ANY level with the exception of some class specific weapon/off-hand weapons and maybe trinket?.
Just about every PvP is open in the world guild wars, sieges etc, there is no instanced PvP arena.
This is a good overview of everything imo.

Ooh shit didnt realize the beta was coming out for this game so soon. Got a brand new laptop to try this out on. Anyone happen to have a spare guest pass? I'd appreciate it ever so much <3 Would love to join a BG guild.
I'm on Orwen currently, Mediah 02. Haven't touched the game much since early access due to 0 time and the crazyness that is mmo launches.
name is Insanecyclone family name: Goddannar for guild invite prz
Gonna download and play tonight. This is gonna be fun
Glad everyone is enjoying this one. I'll be keeping my eyes on it from afar.
Post lots of updates in this thread for myself and others.
Is there anyone else who can do Guild invites? Never heard anything back from Senji.
Game is so sandboxed idk what I feel like I should focus on.
If you're not in a hurry, I suggest do every single quests, talk to every npc, as you level. You'll learn about the game a lot that way.
Pick a goal and stick with it. Do you want to have the best highest tier horse in the game? Do it. Do you want to be able to make the best and highest quality beer? Do it. Do you want to hit level cap for pvp/gvg/sieges? Go for it. There's tons of stuff to do. It might be best to focus with combat/grinding until you start to understand the scope of the game a bit more.
Also little nitpick. I wouldn't go around and do every single combat quest you get. It's recommended to grind+black spirit quests only until you hit the 300 soft cap for skill points, and then use the quests to hit 500 because after 300 the time investment on gaining skill points through combat increases a lot.
