Team Ninja today released the second episode of the Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z developer diary series exploring the creation process of the franchise’s first cyber ninja, Yaiba Kamikaze, from conception to execution. Find out what makes Yaiba’s cybernetics tick, why Yaiba is the ninja to drink with and more with observations from Executive Producer, Yosuke Hayashi and Producer, Conceptor, Keiji Inafune, Art Director Shinsuke Komaki (comcept), Game Director, Masahiro Yasuma (comcept), Lead Game Designer, Cory Davis and Producer, John Garcia-Shelton (Spark) in “Yaiba: Ninja Badass”.

In Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, players will battle fierce zombies as Yaiba, a cyborg ninja who will do anything to get revenge and stay alive. Cleaved in two, he is brought back to life with cyber-technology. Brandishing his ninja sword and the mecha weapons in his cyber arm, he slaughters zombies with brutal, over-the-top abandon. Step into a stylized living comic book where stunning graphics depict a world gone mad. Hordes of undead can only be stopped by Yaiba’s willingness to use any means necessary to get the job done. Will he kill by turning his cyber arm into a razor chainsaw for slicing up undead—or just rip off an opponent’s arms to use as zombie nunchucks? Both possibilities fill Yaiba’s heart with twisted laughter in this upcoming collaboration between famed developers Team NINJA and comcept’s Keiji Inafune.

    Massive Two-Headed Zombie Toddlers
Team Ninja today released a new trailer and screenshots depicting a fresh look into Yaiba Kamikaze’s chaotic plight showing off new bosses, harvested weapons, and an all-new environment featured in the upcoming Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z. Deep within an enormous armored fortress travelling across a snowy wasteland, Yaiba is surrounded by a pack of massive two-headed zombie toddlers known as the Terrible Two. Armed with his mech harvested rocket launcher, one shot will take them out before they even have a chance to try and devour him. Yaiba then continues the bloodbath and harvests the zombie tot’s mammoth Shoulder Blade into a club to take out the rest of the horde. Batter up, zombie fodder!

Now, armed with a powerful array of mecha weapons and an unquenchable thirst for blood, YAIBA’s relentless quest for revenge finds him slicing his way through hordes of undead in a world ravaged by a zombie outbreak.

“Developed by the talented teams led by Team NINJA’s Yosuke Hayashi and comcept’s Keiji Inafune, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is an ambitious project, and we are excited to introduce this new type of ninja to Ninja Gaiden fans and newcomers alike,” said Amos Ip, SVP and General Manager of Tecmo Koei America. “When it comes to creating an exciting new property utilizing ninja and zombies as source material, there are no better experts than Team NINJA and Inafune-san.”

Step into the stylized living comic book world of Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z where stunning visuals and fluid combat depict a world gone mad. YAIBA’s bloodlust is matched only by the deadly assortment of weapons in his arsenal. Shred through hordes of zombies by transforming Yaiba’s cybernetic arm into a razor chainsaw or tear off an opponent’s arms for a pair of make-shift zombie nun chucks. Each fallen foe brings Yaiba closer to the ultimate showdown with his rival as he leaves a trail of death and destruction in his tracks.

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z comes from the teams behind the famed ninja and zombie videogame experiences, Team NINJA, creators of the revolutionary Ninja gaiden series, and legendary producer Keiji Inafune, and developer, Spark Unlimited. Enter a world where ninja, zombies, cybernetic weapons, and cell-shaded comic book visuals clash and come alive in an action packed adventure that draws from the Ninja gaiden franchise with an original storyline and new style of play.

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is available for a suggested retail price of $59.99 in North America. The Steam (PC) version will launch on March 21, 2014 and is available for pre-order at a special discounted rate of $49.99.

One of the games I was really looking forward to this year, what a disappointment. They spent too much time masturbating over the comicbook graphics, I guess.
