Need help/advice on what to do.

First off, i am no noob to FFXI, but i haven't played the Abyssea expansions. know wesway I'll be able to retrieve my old account info, if have to start from level 1 again if i start playing.

Main question is, is it worth starting from level one all over? Our is early/mid game completely over? Should i bother picking up XI again? I'm rather torn by this as i love FFXI but don't want to be left in the dust stranded if i start over.

So, start over or just pass?
