ME3 was pretty great. I'll have to see how this updated system plays, but I really enjoyed making decisions and seeing an outcome even if it were small in detail. Something DAII greatly lacked. I really enjoyed ME3's later missions when in assigning tasks, if assigned to the wrong member shit got real. I'm hoping the system they are mentioning is a lot like that.

^ This. Really enjoyed playing the actual game. Then the ending happened.

For those that haven't checked out the main site in a while they added a nice interactive map that gives a lot of background information on the events in certain areas of the world. Some is stuff you would already know by playing the previous two games or reading the books. Other stuff is new.

    http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/2...-game-content/
BioWare recently offered more details about its upcoming role-playing game Dragon Age: Inquisition to GameInformer in their latest issue, detailing the state of the world and how the player arrives at the central role in the story. The magazine issue also contains a number of new screenshots showcasing the game's visuals.

According to the preview, top-ranking agents from the Circle of Mages and Chantry meet together for peace talks after the events of Dragon Age 2 in an attempt to end the war that began at the end of the second game. Unfortunately for these emissaries, a portal to the Fade (that’s where the demons are from) opens up in the middle of the sky and kills everyone. The player survives the blast, escaping the Fade, but comes out with a mark on his or her hand that allows interaction with various breaches to the Fade.

The player has the unique ability to enter into these tears, and that becomes a “key factor” in the player’s ascension to becoming the head of the Inquisition. However, the mark also makes the player a target by those who consider him or her a threat. It’s up to the player to find out who’s out to kill him or her and that makes up a big portion of the game’s storyline.

Thus far, the story sounds a lot like another BioWare-developed title, Baldur’s Gate, and its deal with a mysterious stranger who wants to kill the protagonist.

The preview goes on to state that building up the Inquisition is a parallel form of progression for the player, alongside advancing the player’s personal abilities. There are apparently three facets to the progression of the Inquisition, led by a particular character each. Each one of these facets has its own talent tree and through them, you unlock various benefits for the player character and the Inquisition. Benefits include the ability to strengthen your soldiers, bring in more gold, or give a personal boost in gathering crafting materials.

As previously detailed, the player will also be able to customize Skyhold, the Inquisition home base and center of the player’s operations.

One location detailed in the preview is a location called Emprise Du Lion, in the highlands of Dale. You have the option of invading the place with your Inquisition army against Templars who have taken over.

Interestingly enough, the preview states that most of the content in Emprise Du Lion is so difficult that the player won’t even be able to experience them until the post-game, implying that there is going to be more content for the player to explore even after the campaign has ended.

    http://gamerspective.net/dragon-age-...-fort-capture/
Bioware has given an early look into the fort capture mechanic for Dragon Age: Inquisition.

They plan to give players a greater sense of exploration than ever before in the series and this will include a new system to control territories through a fort capture mechanic.

Each region within the game that will make up the larger country of Orlais will feature specific locations that the player can conquer. Once key locations such as forts have been captured, gamers will be able to take control of the surrounding areas. This is due to the fact that fans won’t only be in control of the game’s protagonist the Inquisitor and the party this time around. This time, the game places players at the head of the Inquisitor faction and puts them in charge of an actual army.

Once an area on the map is under control, players can decide how they want to use the Inquisitor’s resources to improve the region. For example, stationing soldiers in the area will make it more defended. However, there are other commands such as deciding the fate of the economy by introducing new merchants and trade routes. This is one of many ways that will allow the player to become more directly involved over the world itself.

^ Eh. I'm a big fan of Dragon Age, but none of that stuff in the Collector's Edition is really exciting to me.

Like the possibility you'll put it up on a bookshelf for your mom to throw away after you commit suicide for being a terrible person and she will think it's garbage, not part of the Dragon Age 3 collector's edition?

    Pretty good possibility.

Yeah for a game called Dragon Age there have hardly been many dragons in previous 2 games. False advertising

So I'm a big ME fan but never touched DA. If I just p/u DA:3 will all be well or do I need to sludge through previous ones?

From a Lore perspective, probably. They do tend to cover the gap though a bit.
I enjoyed the stories, minus some nitpicking.
If you enjoy lore, you should get in on the previous ones.

Well DA:Oirigins is definitely worth playing. You could skip two and read the story or just quickly rush through it. But it will definitely help your understanding of the world to play the previous ones. But the story isn't as strongly followed up like it is in Mass Effect which is a direct sequel. DA games follow different heroes.

Thanks for the tips, I didn't know each had a different protagonist. I'll look into it.
