So.. All(most?) OG refs have a job besides this correct?
So.. All(most?) OG refs have a job besides this correct?
Yea
I'm upset with the entire league, not just the owners and the replacement referees. The ridiculous and immature behavior of the coaches and players who reason that they should try to get away with as much as possible is affecting the integrity of the game more than the bad calls themselves.
The fact that coaches like Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll will take time outs and call challenges when they know damn well that they have none is unacceptable and I believe that they should be fined. The fact that players on most, if not all, teams have decided to embrace one another in an all out hold-fest and gamble to see who'll get called when is just as bad. The holding shit was bad BEFORE the replacement refs.
Ugh, it's just such an all-around disgrace. There are a few players and coaches out there that might not be acting like dicks, but it seem sto be few and far between the more it goes on.
lol thats such a stupid stance. rules are always bent. in every sport. all the time.
This may be my favorite one so far...

To some extent, but not to this extent. When you try to manipulate them into giving you extra time outs - something so simple to keep track of that it hurts - you're just being a turd.
There's a difference between bending the rules and intentionally shattering them on a consistent basis. It's fucking hypocritical for players to whine about this shit when they know damn well they're holding every chance they can get.
it's a competitive league where millions, if not billions, are on the line, as well as your well-being and job security. If you aren't holding, the guy across from you will be. That's what officials are for - to make sure that shit doesn't get out of control and to enforce rules. If you know you called three time outs, and the officials tell you you have one left, you would be the biggest dumb fuck in the world to not use it.
They knew they had none left and asked for them.
If you guys think this is acceptable behavior and doesn't affect the integrity of the game then I don't know what else to say. Coaches and players shouldn't need daddy figures to tell them what's right and wrong. Refs aren't intended to keep people from going apeshit - they're intended to handle ambiguous calls and mistakes (as well as the occasional intentionally bullshit action).
If you're referring to the recent one with Steelers v Broncos Derock, they called TO when they didn't have one and the other team immediately went WTF after it was granted. By the time they got it sorted it was essentially a free timeout for the Steelers. He may not be a member of the master race but I'm sure Tomlin can count to 3.
Lemme know when the real refs are back, I have more important things to do than watch this joke.
Seriously, I'm out til they're back.
Think it's unsportsman like conduct penalty.
Also Xroy, I don't agree with what harbaugh did but he asked if he could challenge and the ref granted it to him to me it's not the exact same as calling a 4th timeout (in a half for cleverness) when you know you don't have one. If the ref said he can't he wouldn't have thrown it at the time. Yeah it was a shame and was stupid and had they won it would have felt tainted.
Yeah everyone is pushing the envelope and it's not helping things but you're putting way too much on it.
SEA was given an extra timeout vs ARI week 1 on like the 5 yard line with seconds left in the game.
SF was granted a challenge in the same play they used their 3rd timeout after the ref said it was alright. In the refs mind when the challenge was overturned (incorrectly because of whistle like derock said) they got their final timeout back (which is still wrong) so he took another challenge cause the refs said he had 1 more challenge and still had their final timeout.
lol that vid
might have real refs this weekend. we appreciate your sacrificial offering archi the gods seem to be pleased
