Shitton of important JP posts today.
As far as I can tell, they're raising the 1H Ratio cap to 2.25.
Edit: Apparently not -

*grumble* why do they keep posting these stupid posts later and later. I usually check at the same time in the morning and this morning they weren't even up yet when I checked.
It's their way of reinstating the HNM system, obviously. Camp longer and harder!
Looks like Byrth was right about the level correction. In addition, boosting damage will make damage resistance somewhat less significant. Remember that increases send to see decreasing returns.
1.5
1
0.5
1 (Normal damage) is a 100% increase from 0.5, but 1.5 is only a 50% increase from 1.
Given the response about H2H last week, I'm very curious if H2H will be included in the adjustment to the attack cap ratio or if MNKs and PUPs will just get left out in the cold.
Ooooo new defensive JAs? My warrior senses are tingling. The idea is to give a benefit to defense so that defense will lower risk more than ever before. We will support this with abilities and additionally with new types of equipment and food.
Also, Taim, Harlequin head gets HF. I been wanting for some time to see Harlequin get turned more into a baby monk frame so we have more offensive variety than squishy Rng or DD Pld. HF Harleedge will do fine I guess.
Oh I wasn't saying they were good just situationally or slightly useful. As compared to mnk and rdm where you have to consider wether the time it takes to use the ability hurts more than the ability helps lol. That and was making a slight joke about how they can't even correct it saying the SP ability will be invisible lol
Taken from that link:
While it was rumoured to happen they are actually going through with killing counterstance? I don't know if I can be arsed to pay for a game where I can't do 1 of the things I like doing most. Also, they're giving enemies an increased ratio cap so that having low defense sucks but leaving ours capped at 2.25.
It depends what you mean by "killing counterstance." They are going to increase the damage taken when you have lower defense than the monster, which will increase the damage you take when you fail to counter with Counterstance up. However, two things:
1) We don't know how much.
2) In Adoulin there will be no level correction, so monsters will effectively have less attack in the first place.
All posts up, including one which addresses counterstance (or at least states that there's potential for adjustment there).

Yeah, S-E boards was thinking along the same lines- http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/th...-bargain-price.
I don't think they'll give us an "all-in-one", but yeah, it'd be nice if we could chuck multiple effects with a single spell, and if it's RDM specific enough, it could even be given better "stick" than the generic ones.
Great stuff as always Slycer. I wish these would be implemented in the game ASAP ; ;
How does the removal of level correction affect low level monsters attacks vs high level players? Has it just never applied at that point ever? Was it just a bonus that high level monsters received versus players of a lower level? I'm not sure I fully understand the impact of this.
I think they're saying that fundamentally this adjustment is going to be completely unidirectional, specifically for player attack vs. monster defense against higher level monsters. Based on their posts today, I don't think anything else will be affected (attacks vs. lower monsters, attacks from lower monsters, or attacks vs. higher monsters).
So in the end, how does this effect 1 handers and presumably H2H users ( if the correction is the same) in current endgame content?
For highly buffed zerg situations with Defense Down debuffs on the high level target (like 120), this is going to be something like a 20-25% damage boost for 1H weapons.
The Monster ratio changes pretty much can't be predicted because it sounds like they're saying two things:
1) We're going to make it so you get hit harder the lower your defense is (makes sense)
2) We're going to re-work the existing pDIF curve.
The monster level correction changes will probably have substantial negative implications for pets (afaik these use the same equations as monsters). Pets are unlikely to benefit from the other half of the changes because monsters don't regularly use JAs that lower their defense to shit. Basically, get all your Falcorr vs. Dynamis EP domination in before they change this.
