    2. Will Bells be considered a "Club" type weapon? Or a new class of it's own?
    3. Taking a quote from the SoA site: "Polishing one's skill in the handbell makes it possible to enhance the effects of geomancy spells." - Will this be based on Club Skill? Or will it be a new type of magic that we all need to skill up from scratch?
What I got from it is that is that Bells will basically be used exactly like Bard instruments and occupy the ranged slot. They will have their own skill that will be used to enhance Geomancy. Geomancy itself may have its own skill (similiar to Singing skill) and the spells take both skills into account. Also like Bard, the bells will be GEO only- further reducing the effectiveness of subbed Geomancy.

As for the clubs- maybe they'll have a new line with +bell or +geomancy skill? I don't think they will be dumb enough to deny them at least a Chatoyant Staff for their Elemental Magic.

Huh. I thought that GEO bells were supposed to be a ranged weapon slot, like instruments. Guess they changed their minds? This does make them the same slot as the existing (useless) bells, but that probably wasn't the reason for it. Anyway, I see a lot of "don't even think of /GEO" in this info already. So sick of that. And I don't even own a Twilight Scythe and I'm pissed by this nerf. So now they're going to not just keep crap drop rates, but we're going to have to worry about them taking our stuff away after we get it? And this is going to be based on having no idea how the game even works, as usual? Great. Just great.

I'm fairly certain that they will be a ranged item. /GEO may end up being a decent subjob for Bard when being in AoE range is okay and no shits are given about cure support, depending of course on what low level geomancy is available.

The description says that Geo is a support job, Bard and Cors. Bard is the fake-thf buffer, Cor is the fake-rng, and Geo will be the fake-blm. Of course nobody will sub Geo, because subbing Cor or Brd for their buffs is ludicrous.

The only thing I'm worried about is what Ronin was talking about: the range of the buff spheres. Also how many of them you can put up (so far looks like one on yourself and one with a Luopan). Having the buff be anchored to a single location with its own HP is hugely limiting. The buffs they give are going to have to be pretty powerful to compensate for that, like how phantom rolls were buffed later on because of the random nature compared to bard songs.

It's also important to note that they said at Fanfest that the Luopans, in addition to having their own HP pool that can be damaged by AoEs, deplete over time on their own.

Yeah. They're basically the same thing as that Quadav in Beaudeaux S. Or like Adelheid Sturm in Campaign. Those things always reminded me of Nu Gundam.

I always thought that they were going to give Adelheid's...funnels (I can't remember their real name either) to Scholar as an ability down the line, since at the time it seemed like SCH was supposed to have GEO-aspects to it.

What I took from the screenshots was that Bells are in the ranged slot (like instruments) and Luopans act as ammo for the bells.

But that doesn't sell copies of an expansion pack or allow for 20 jobs in an MMO so we're stuck with Geomancer. I agree that tubes and vials (what luopans are) should have been extensions of Scholar, a job that already has issues carving out a name for itself even with many of the regen tweaks, 2hrs and tools given to it.

Now that I've thought it over an applied some SE logic to things I'm feeling confident that SE won't be giving Geomancer the Magian staves for the sake of balance which means Chatoyant staff nuking with the directional nuking aspect being billed as the way to bring out the "true potential" of the job. Didn't SE mention somewhere that GEO would be getting T1-4 nukes with a unique line? (the thunder spell being cast in the preview looks to be a part of the new line?) That would seat it below BLM and SCH presumably with its buffs and debuffs allowing it to fill a slot that a SCH could normally occupy.

But therein lie the rub. Where do you place a GEO in a party? In with the mages? In a melee party? Space is already limited and its not like you can swap the GEO out a la COR or BRD and those aura effects likely don't work cross-party.

I'm working on a translation of Fujito's long post today because he used the 1-2-3-profit meme and that alone made it worthy of translation.

Greatly disappointed to hear about Twilight Scythe changes. I wish they would have just left that alone instead of bending to the crying of a small group of people.

    This ^

Indicolure spells (which can be subbed) rely only on Geomancy magic skill
Geocolure spells require a bell which will be equipped in the ranged slot and is required to cast Geocolure spells. The bells will require a skill similar to bard instruments and the effectiveness of the Geocolure spell will most likely be a combination of Geocolure + Bell skill. My guess is that the skill will increase the starting HP of the Luopans (They decrease in HP over time) and the strength of the buffs in tiers based on total skill.

Yeah, they mentioned TI-IV elemental spells with B- skill, some Dark magic, and some -ra spells (indicating that they'll have some enhancing magic skill as well?). I'm not sure if they specifically said whether or not they will get their own special line of nukes but I would like to think that they are.

I thought the -ra spells they were referring to were elemental spells that don't yet exist, like Fira, Blizzara, etc.?

Maybe GEO has innate "dual wield" and bells go in the sub slot, so they can ring their little bells while whacking away with a mainhand club? Only GEOs can equip bells, so that would limit subjob use similar to BRD and instruments. It'd be nice to see a mage job for once that isn't automatically pigeonholed to staves. Their unique clubs + bells could provide comparable bonuses, while still leaving the ranged slot for typical use (unlike PUP which is permanently stuck with an animator. No one likes having their ranged slot locked) There could be, for example, a "Gaia Bell" that gives Earth affinity +7

Also, as for elemental magic, SE said they would get a "-ra" line of nukes. Fira, Thundara, Blizzara, Aera, etc.

Interesting. As a BLM and SCH, I welcome my new nuking and buffing job. I imagine that with that cardinal JT, you can either increase magic accuracy or damage depending on the distance. I can see it being one heck of a good buffing and DD job ala COR but magic based. SCH still has their unique storm spells, über Regen abilities, Embrava, sublimation, and enmity spells to make them unique. if they could just buff the TP spell, there would be more benefit from the job than it already has...

Maybe that's what it'll be- it probably would have specifically mentioned enhancing magic otherwise.

As far as SCH goes, I think they really should look into giving them T2 Helix spells.
