Pile on enough refresh to where you can rely entirely on 5, and DD tanking is a thing again. lol

I wish I could just have my new toy already, but they seem to have forgotten about it again.
Kinda sorta exciting that the emnity changes might have enough impact to drive us back to old times (outside of VW, since emnity still won't matter in there with temp spam), with dedicated tanks, the old standard positioning setups for support/mages, etc.
Really depends on how much that att/def ratio means for anything not pumping up on PDT or Def gear.
FYI, the Camate post says that enmity will be reduced BY 30%, not TO 30% of the current values. However, I still think my translation is correct.
Strict translation:Code:対象のレベルが99以上の場合で、調整前(=現状)の3割程度に軽減されます。
"For the case of targets higher than level 99, it will be reduced to about 30% of pre adjustment (= currently)."
If he used "o/wo" instead of "ni" as his particle then Camate's would have been correct, but as it stands, I'm pretty sure mine's correct. Maybe someone with more technical knowledge of JP grammar can help clarify.
In an earlier post on the changes, SE said that below 500-550 defense will be the spot where the adjustment to defense will cause you to take more damage than before on the current big-time monsters. That means that most melees (as long as they have Protect V) will be taking similar damage to before unless they put up a JA that lowers defense.
Difference in how it sounded? lol. What about difference in what it means?
Thank you for asking and it's great that Camate cleared it up so quickly.
Well, yeah, given that the old cap was 2.0. and Ig Alima had 1059 attack, that means that @530 defense, you'd take the same damage in both systems. That said, given that you'd need more than 1059 defense to benefit from the hypothetical new system (which isn't happening) it still seems like a nerf to players in general on high-end content.
We've been asking for adjustments for ages and we keep getting minor things that simply don't fix the core issues. At least with new pets we get to feel special for a couple minutes instead of simply being ignored when it comes to everything else. Summoner seems an afterthought even when they release new gear sets.
The job needs an overhaul and they simply don't seem to care.
Very curious if that one-hander adjustment is going to apply to hand-to-hand or not.
he's completely right. still dont understand why impetus is some godwrought treasure that makes mnk amazing, since thats all it really has
It's not, BLU is in fact almost on par and occasionally better. Proth did the math on it a while ago. I'd bet 2.2 ratio for all 1h besides mnk would make mnk the worst choice in any buffed setting.
Yes, which is everyone's point, that everyone except for most smns seem to realize. Instead of complaining all the time about lack of new avatars that were mentioned in passing by people not even working on the dev team anymore, why not complain to SE about this? Be a louder voice, maybe they listen, maybe they don't, but at least if they have constant feedback they might listen, especially with the new guys in charge.
The more they hear "we want new avatars and we want them now, what's taking so long already, gosh!" the more likely they are to tune out the legitimate complaints of the players that enjoy playing as a smn.
holy shit someone is agreeing with me for once, is this real life
