That's very unusual and contrary to my experiences. I've a PLD holding mobs die while I whack away on the root furthest from him. We weren't in a party or anything, and the mobs scattered about, but weren't aggressive toward me. Later they got too close and fucked me up, yes, but it wasn't like what you described. I wonder if there's something else at play, I mean, there has to be '~'

I've also had nest mobs (from an untouched nest) aggro me as I'm running through, as well.

If you have reive status on, all monsters with reive status will fite you regardless of what's happening. Unless you're saying you were without reive status and got aggro or were running through with reive status and sneak/invis and got aggro.

I think he's saying Spira's wrong about mobs being passive before the objective get attacked. Spira didn't include "lairs" in his statement, however, so it could still be true.

They're not totally passive ever, but I do think their aggro range grows a lot when lairs get attacked. Also, I'm another vote in the "once someone touches the nest, everyone with status had better start fighting or prepare to get killed." It's like alliance hate for everyone in the Reive.

Not sure it's an exact science but from what I've seen only Lair Reive mobs aggro prior to player interaction with the nest/mobs.

The Colonization ones don't aggro you until someone performs an aggressive action on them/the root (or have a very, very small aggro radius). At which point they hunt down everyone with Reive status after initial aggro.

Sometimes the colonization ones go passive after everyone dies and other times they don't. I.e. sometimes you can RR fine after full wipe and sometimes they're just like 'lol nope'. Originally thought it was DoT shenanigans but then had it happen after no DoTs ever used so god knows.

Like Rocl is saying, something is definitely going on that we don't fully understand because this is a lot of conflicting reports. The only things I can say with 100% certainty (or I don't know where over 70k of my total bayld has come from):

-You're fine if you send your pet to the roots and then afk in a corner for the rest of the reive with invisible/sneak on. I've seen up to three different groups fail at keeping the bees/grasshoppers in check in a single reive and I have never, ever been hunted down while alt tabbed in a corner after the rest of the reive participants were obliterated.

-Enemies will hunt you down regardless of sneak/invis if you're in a party with someone who died. Rocl died while meleeing a root on DNC and the enemies that killed him came after me even though I had sneak/invis on.

Perhaps take this to the Colonization thread and maybe we can figure out what's up.

EDIT: Didn't they update reives today? Are we all reporting things from a few days ago or from today? Would be nice to clarify that, lol. I have yet to do a reive today.

Before we run away again, I just participated in a Lair Reive where the group successfully slayed every dragon. The Wasp Nest sat around at 1% while the monsters repopped, they did not initially aggro or chase anyone, until the PLD ran and flashed one of them. Then they all linked and I killed the Nest cuz I'm a dick.

Unfortunately while looking for a Colonization Reive w/ normally nonaggressive monsters (the only ones I can think of is Twitherym as Chapuli do aggro in Sih Gates) I couldn't find any to test this "passive until root is fighted" for Colonization.

My reports are from yesterday/few days ago. I've not played since the minor update this morning.

If nobody else tests before I get home from work, I'm pretty sure I logged out near colonization reives in Yahse. In between the Chapuli and Wasp one.

Lair Reive mobs don't aggro until you hit the root or one of the mobs themselves. Not sure how they behave if only one person hits the nest and then dies though.

Lair and Colonization Reives are two different things. I don't even know which you're talking about since Lair Reives don't have roots.

I just tested a Colonization Reive, and I stand semi-corrected. Monsters are only aggressive in Colonization Reives if the roots are currently being attacked. Walked in to the root with no problem, swung at it, died to wasps, reraised, A-OK no aggro.

Was that perhaps due to the root regening the damage you did while you were dead? I have been aggrod by colonization reive mobs when there are 0 people attacking the roots at the time (the only other person there was a THF that just died to being mobbed by chapuli).

Root never regenned up from 99%. Tested a freshly popped Lair Reive now, and again, monsters didn't aggro with the Nest at 100%. I'm curious to see if I can solo this Lair Reive w/o aggro currently, but if I die I'll let you know if they aggro anyone afterward

I dont know, they need to introdcue some form to use bayld good, because my interest in reives has died and they are just an annoyance if you want to cross zones... Let baylds be exchanged for alexandrite and ancient currency, but atm its just poopcaka. I know its all the colonization topic blabla, but its boring as hell atm

Guessing the skirmish entry items will be sold for bayld when the right guild has been leveled.

They can be obtained through numerous methods: they may be rewarded when completing a quest or mission, drop from fiends that roam the continent, or be received via exchanging certain currencies.

If you look at the full post of what you quoted it says what are used to buy them at the bottom. And yeah it's a catch 22

The automaton, excluding perhaps the Wyver, has always been the frailest of the pets, specially at 75 cap. On the other hand, at 75 cap there was no pet that did better damage than the automaton. Sharpshooter raped colibries, and Valoredge was a top DD on kited Kirins, for example.

PUP never soloed by having the pet attack. Except on rare ocassions, soloing on PUP required the master tanking and the pet healing.

pretty much this as far as pet jobs go the Master was the one always in the firing line, been testing out "afking" on lairs with bst and pup, pup is the fair better option since it'll ws at 100% tp and wpuldn't gain aggro from the monsters around, where as jug pets need you to do manually select there tp move which will drop invisible which isn't helpful when it comes to the mean mean streets of Adoulin :/ its not much but soloing a lair on bst took 37 mins on pup it took 27 which is a big difference

Sounds like a great way to skill-up my automatons. Recommend any Reives that have a safe zone to stand in? The ones I tried on BST (cave zones primarily, was trying to get to a quest objective) wander right to the outer perimeter.
