Sounds like all but a few RME owners are completely fucked tbh
Personally don't care, even though I'm a mythic owner, but I'm still pretty taken back by how shortsighted this was
Gonna' have to go with Slycer on this one and agree that they probably just wanted to put an end to legendary weapons
I see what he did thereWhile the memories you made and the stats on your equipment cannot always be proportionate, we are trying our best to see if we can keep all of the effort spent on earning these weapons intact.
Also, it said right in the SE official Delve info that synthesis materials were exclusively boss drops, not anything else. Considering the apparent insane difficulty of the bosses and the utilization of these materials in all the new good stuff, you're easily looking at weapons that will cost 50-100 million or more for NQ versions and your soul for HQ.
And they're not even going to look nice.![]()
I foresee a reverse DMG upgrade of these weapons like the update where the Naakual weapons were buffed up.
Still leave RMEs eating dust even if they lower them to skirmish/naakual * 1.2 levels
Let's be perfectly honest; by and large, Mythics have always been worthless. There are three or four worth anything, and they're for jobs that don't get used anyway. Mythics have and always will be a status thing. Relics are the same way. I didn't see this level of freakout when Empyrean armor came out, and this is basically the same situation. Yes, people have sunk a lot of money into those weapons, but that's hardly a useful metric; would you be just as mad if currency prices crashed and a relic only cost 15M to make? Upgrading things with the expectation that they'll be the best forever is foolish, in my opinion. In a game where the goal is gear progression, I'm flabbergasted that now that things are actually progressing, people are losing their shit.
Armor is one thing but SE for years has gone out of their way to make sure nothing added to the game was better than relics, and when they added empys, boosted relics to compete with them. For them now to go and completely make everything except maybe shield and harp obsolete makes no sense. Especially with how cautious Matsui has gone about changing things to make sure his changes weren't made in haste.
Don't want to be the black sheep here, but what makes everyone think that SE wants RME's to remain on top? These are weapons that some have had for years, and in the case of (75) relics, almost a decade. I can understand and sympathize with those who have lost hundreds of millions of gil, but I also feel like maybe its time to move on from it. Its obvious with the gear released thus far in the expansion that they're looking at essentially recreating the experience at lvl 99, which I don't wholly agree with since it invalidates TONS of previous content and makes it essentially useless. Could you imagine if in say 5 years the likes of NNI, Einherjar, Dynamis, Limbus, etc, are as forgotten as say Garrison? Its kind of a scary new concept, considering until now, many endgame activities in FFXI held their value and uses.
But if they feel its time to move on from all of our old content, then our only choices are to follow or move on ourselves.
Can someone link me to a JP thread where people are bitching about this? I want to "like" all of their posts since doing it on the EN forums wont mean jack shit.
I can't speak for everyone else but I personally don't care about R/E/M's being the best (I actually lament the loss of Cata more). It's more that such an emphatic gap now exists between the new weapons and everything previously.
Plus the fact that now every person is going to be running around with the same weapon. It was bad enough that everyone had R/E/M's (was far better when they were rarer imo) but at least there was some variation. Now there's going to be no variation at all really. It will basically be points item or GTFO (barring a select few weapons) until Delve Naakuals are killable
if the new content was tough i'd be all for r/m/e's being gone, but it doesn't seem to be.
sucks to be SE, if they don't make shit harder or buff r/m/e they probably will lose some long-time players
It seems obvious they don't expect RME to stay on top, but I think I'm upset because of the time and effort spent into acquiring an Armageddon and upgrading it to 99 is essentially going to be invalidated. I spent about 175-200m upgrading the gun from 90-99, and it is going to rot in my mog house potentially (gun doesn't have it as bad as the other weapons do).
If they don't want to increase the base damage of RME, then some sort of quest or trial (I know they said no more trials for these weapons, but can do something in SoA inventors' coalition story-wise to upgrade them) "Hey is that a relic weapon, let me see what I can do!" etc.
Then create a story, fight, quest, or mission that upgrades them to 105-100% of what the Delve boss drops are. when you spend that much time and effort on something, it shouldn't be simply invalidated by the apparent whim of the developers. I have real life friendships formed from the months spent farming empy weapons for people over time. I know one mnk extremely frustrated by the time and effort he put into vereth being completely outclassed by Nakuul, Skirmish, and now Delve mobs.
Simply giving us the WS (and even the aftermath) on another weapon is not acceptable. I want to be able to use my laser cannon, thank you very much. I don't know if I would quit over this topic, but someone who was a career melee with 2-3+ of these weapons, I could see them being extremely frustrated by the potential for being outclassed so easily here.
I disagree that they should be made to be 100-105% of Delve weapons. They just have to be made respectable so they are at least useable instead of languishing 40% behind or whatever. And I say that as some who got their relics back in the day rather than in the current climate so it's not like I didn't invest a ton of time/gil into them.
If people insist on R/E/M's always being on top then they might as well sack off creating any new weapons ever again.
Realistically it may have been better if the points based weapons slotted in between 90/95 R/E/M's and 99 versions with them growing to 99 strength or slightly stronger with augments. This would have given people without 99 R/E/M's a way of getting a comparable weapon to do the content. Then you could have Delve Naakual weapons beating them by like 10-15% or something since they are looking hard to obtain.
Not that it's gonna do shit since paying attention to English suggestions would require SE to give a fuck about their player base (which they clearly don't now), but I started this in regards to non-DD damage sources. If SE are gonna buff the utter shit out of DDs with DMG:270 weapons and the like, at least do something similar to Elemental Magic and Pet jobs (especially Summoner, that 45s timer can fuck right off).
On topic, terrible idea is terrible. It would be so much easier to either increase RME damage/stats or reduce the dmg on the new weapons. It wasn't as if we weren't dealing enough damage before SoA came out, there was no need to trump RMEs in the first place.
I'm willing to negotiate on the exact percentage that RME need to be with regards to Delve weapons. There is also the factor of the strength of the WS and the aftermath effect as well. However, I think the primary point that should be established is that no single drop should be automatically better than something that took time and effort to obtain.
You want to make a Delve weapon better than a T3 Zilart VW weapon? Ok, I'm on board with that.
You want to make a Delve weapon better than a time-consuming sinkhole of Empy or Mythic? Not so sure I can get behind that. Especially Mythic, those weapons are time consuming to obtain and to have them so easily outclassed has to be a gut-punch.
