They have already communicated many times over now that that is exactly what they intend to do, outdate gear. The latter part of what you're talking about is the gear philosophy of the old FFXI, the new director wants new and better gear to be used to get newer better gear. So the people who would get mad about that better stop playing lol.
A lot of non-mage AF3+2 is already outdated. The best Thf sets only uses two (unless you have body to macro in for conspirator) for example.
RDM AF3 hands?
Skadi+1 Helm (Probably Sigyn too) is better.
And Whirlpool should blow everything out of the water when people can access it.
Talking about TP or WS? I'm talking about TP, and those heads don't seem better besides whirlpool, but I guess it depends on if the other stats are worth losing 3% triple attack or not.
The best Pre-SoA TP set for thf was:
Skadi's Mask +1, Nefarious, Suppa, Brutal
Thaumas, Skadi's +1, Epona's, Rajas
Rancorous, Patentia, Thaumas, Sigyn
Post-SoA, some pieces have changed, but none of those changes make the unused AF3+2 viable again.
Edit: Haven't run through the spreadsheet yet, but excluding Delve Naarkul drops, my target TP set is now:
Skadi+1, Asperity, Suppa, Brutal
Thaumas, Skadi+1, Epona, Mars's/Rajas
Letalis/Rancorous, Patentia, Manibozho(Acc Augment), Manibozho(Acc or Att augment)
Letalis and Mars's depending purely on accuracy (which is a bigger deal in SoA)
There's a post from Mocchi on the 10th that talks about how Wyverns will be strengthened. Is he saying that it will be based on weapon damage rather than specific wyvern-enhancing weapons?
It's specific wyvern enhancing weapons that will be released from here on out, but it sounds like they're going to make it a very straightforward linear growth depending on what content level you get the weapon from, rather than you picking between, say, WyvernHP+60 and WyvernAttack+5 or something. Honestly the way it's worded kinda confuses me, don't get why they choose to word something so simple in such a roundabout way.
I understood it as we won't be doing things like Wyvern: Attack +10, but that every polearm will have hidden attribute increases to wyverns, or possibly a "Wyvern: Increases Attributes" stat (which could be anything, which would do the same thing as a hidden affect essentially)
As far as how large the boosts will be, no one can know until they release more info or the actual weapons.
A post today from Mocchi appeared, looks like they're giving RNGs new ammo using plasma from Delve?
@noodles
Manibozho doesn't have an accuracy path. It has the Ranged Attack path in the place of an accuracy path.
Yeah, kinda funny that the light jobs are supposed to make up for lower STR by having higher DEX than 2-handers, made a bunch of new monsters with insane evasion, and then they decided to release the new armor for light jobs with no choice for DEX.
Wish they would've just made it four paths instead. Or take away the evasion path, nobody gives a hoot about evasion anymore.
The way i envisioned the Wyvern thing was any stats on any polearm will be added to the wyvern.
Gungnir's +40 acc will apply to the Wyvern for example. Any +stat or +Attribute on a polearm will apply to wyverns, maybe even hidden effects like ODD on Relics etc.
In a roundabout way, the ammunition post today kind of confirmed that you would be able to exchange plasm for boss drops after defeating the bosses.
Also, there was a follow-up to the wyvern post saying that it wouldn't be added retroactively to all weapons, but it would be added retroactively to everything added since 3/27 and then moving forward for future weapons. They said that they would correspond to high "content level" polearms.
Yeah, that pretty much confirms you can buy the crossbow with points. I wonder if synth mats are going to be buyable or not then.
RNG is going to be pretty damn amazing once they get even better ammunition if that ammo scales up like the base DMG has.
