If it were that simple it wouldn't be a problem. Particularly with the Ochain however their is a major problem there is not enough supply of HMP or Riftdross to handle the large number of Ochains that are already out there. It's easy enough to say that PLDs should take it to 99 but the possibility of being able to do so on some servers may be extremely difficult or extremely expesnive to do so.
Yeah one of our brds litterally camps bazaars and guildwork bazaar function trying to finish his harp and he practically dances for joy anytime he finds them at less than twice the going rate. Even at twice he still breaks down and buys them because if he doesn't someone else definitely will despite huge mark ups
So if it becomes a choice of spending who knows how much time camping bazaars and billions of gil to finish ochain or spending 10ish mil and a couple of minutes making something almost as good... choice is clear
Translations up. They're saying that Ochain's block rate falters against the highest level enemies so they are dropping the super high shield skill values on the upgraded shields so they don't totally overtake Ochain. Thats my reading anyway. Seems like nonsense to me since they had no problem killing all the RME weapons.
Well, that's the complete opposite of what we thought it was earlier.
If someone else wants to check and translate to confirm they can. I see nothing about adding skill to Ochain though. Just sounds like they want the block rate of Ochain to be a "not-to-exceed" number for all other shields at all conditions, and they were surprised by Ochain's lower block rate against the highest level stuff.
Number of times in that post that SE was surprised by their own game mechanics: 2
How does that even happen?
So their solution to ochain being surprisingly gimped is to gimp everything else? <.<. Effectively keeping plds physical defensive capabilities at that of a lvl 99 while facing ever increasing higher lvl enemies. Well that's a good way to make pld useless again goodjob SE. I can't wait till my ochain blocks worse against fodder in delve 3 then my genbus shield does on normal stuff. All while giving every job another 20% parrying and pushing for nin main tanking with the utsesmi thing
I considered PDT vs. Defense kind of borderline because they seemed to miss their primary misunderstanding (that PDT caps and we can already hit the cap, so adding PDT to gear just increases our damage potential while turtle-ing without actually making us more durable when playing properly).
But yeah, posts like this make me wonder whether SE is even capable of answering game mechanics questions.
they didnt gimp everything, rather then keep ochain godlikely they decided to make other shield come on part with ochain. 70% blockrate is still very good and if other shields can achieve that too i dont see a problem with it. i mean seriously if anyone didnt think ochain was a bit too much by being able to hold 3 delve NMs endlessly should check what they espect from the game.
In other news this makes burtgang that much better if Ochain isnt godlike anymore.
Did Matsui say that item help text is absolute in determining item stats, and they cant have "hidden stats" such as "iLVL: 110 = all stats +5"? I hate to sound like an ignorant troll, but how did ele staves get affinity? Its not written on them.

After people spent 2 years trying to figure out what it did for Enmity Douse..."oops thats not supposed to be there.
Or did I misunderstand his post about that?
He's saying that the information you see in the help text is purely text and has no direct link to the actual stat values that the armor or weapon provide. Thats why there are often typos and incorrect values in help text. For stats which have a predefined name like STR, attack, etc., you could reprogram the UI to pull the actual stat value the equipment provides and display it. However, for something unique, like the Enmity Douse thing, pulling the actual stat value would probably come up as a garbled mess. As far as item level goes, he's saying that since there's no 100% standardization on stat scaling with item level, they couldn't hide stats under the guise of item level in any meaningful way.
If you can't drop Hurkan's aura, blockrate won't matter!
They won't. When killedar had +218 skill, it still had a 15%~ lower block rate than Ochain. It just had sooo much more dmg- on bock, that it's overall dmg reduction was ahead of Ochain.
So on a mob where Ochain has a ~70% block rate, Killedar would be ~55% IF it kept it's +218 skill.(and at this point it would still be slightly ahead of ochain in overall -dmg. -47.3% total -dmg vs -46.2)
But if the skill+ is going to be adjusted to a "much smaller amount", then Ochain will once again be miles ahead of other shields.
Not sure how I see that. Block rate is a function of skill and lvl as well as the shield itself... if they are saying they found the new mobs are lowering the blockrate of the the highest shield decently that kinda means all of them are lowered by about the same amount. That said I thought the translation said they were lowering the +skill? Kinda a kick to the nuts while the job is already on the ground and alot of other jobs are getting crazy awesome stuff. It's like the new rdm
And while it's block rate is pretty awesome even with that you and many others still basically consider useless it can't be that overpowered. I mean would anyone use pld for anything other than huge magical dmg if the best blockrate they had was on par with aegis? Back in the day sure but now? It's like getting kicked in the nuts after you are already on the ground watching everyone else get epic cool stuff. Is pld the new rdm?
