They have to obsolete them EVENTUALLY. Go ahead and imagine a world where the only way to play a job effectively requires you to do get 1500 of a rare drop from garrison. Eventually even people without Adoulin are going to stop doing VW.

People already are really lol. But you don't have to obsolete the current best in order to create a way to play a job effectively without the current best. Just something close or sidegraded that is currently much easier to get. Basically what Killedar is right now on the test server. A bit less block rate but a bit more dmg blocked per hit. But instead of the rather annoying farming to do Ochain you could just spend like 10-20 mil for Killedar. I know what I would chose if I hadn't already gotten Ochain... hell if they don't change it I might anyways
Really all it means is the gap isn't quite as large as it was between the shield as it was before. Those like myself that already have the Ochain do perfectly fine with it but those without can use other shields without it being quite so overwhelm I can accept that really.
While I agree that VW is dying, to say its dead is a false statement. Plenty of current delve strats hinge on having 1-2 Masa Sam's, which keeps Uptala popular. I'm almost certain that Mala is still the best neckpiece for DRK/SAM/DRG, which leaves Hahava popular (doesnt drop plates tho). The problem lies in the 95-99, since the NM's that drop rift items have no current use.
I'd like to think that SE will adjust 95-99 emp to compensate for VW being useless, but this is SE afterall.
This kind of stuff never gets to me really, I have enough to stress about without worrying about whether my shield that was not really that difficult for me to get since I was soloing T3s with the Aegis is being outclassed by something else. Only reason I even brought it up earlier was more out of confusion then outrage... though I must admit our community, especially the OF, has developed a fine art of continually being outrage though XD
Didn't say it was dead, just that eventually it would very probably be. And that it'd be silly to think that a job would be forevermore bound to such a massive amount of uncommon (not totally rare but not raining from the sky) drops from what will eventually be very old content.
There's like, 10~ matsui posts and 1 fujito post up on the official forums. o.o
Light the Slycer signal!
For now, time to muddle through some google translate...
EDIT: I'm seeing a lot on Shield/Ochain in these. Must know!
2 August updates!, have we ever received 2 updates in one month, other than emergency maintenance updates?
they mentioned this before. cos skirmish couldnt be ready in time for the actual early august update, they pushed it to end aug
I don't understand why they need you to zone when you get tractor'd. They say it wouldn't be able to work any other way because of system limitations, but you can clip and pos-hack your dead body with clipper out of aoe range no problem. Can't they just let tractor pos hack you to the caster's X/Y/Z coordinates?
There's probably some chain-of-command bullshit on the server's side that doesn't allow particular actions to be processed unless certain conditions are met (re: zoning), and we all know how spaghetti'd their server-side code is when they try to adjust something.
I'm thankful Matsui is at least considering some form of band-aid so it's usable in current events for now, rather than Tanaka's "It's too much work" response over the last half decade. Would love for the spell to eventually be overhauled to work anywhere without wiping battlefield status.
plus things like runic lamps in nyzul pos hack you around without the need to zone. SE, as per usual, is full of shit.
If they add massive macc to rdm swords I'm going to lol.
Well, it would be nice for once if red mage had a sword which didn't force it to completely sacrifice its functionality as a mage, so I wouldn't be against that at all. That said, Matsui's response totally ignores the point of the person's post that red mage is (and has been for a while) marginalized and essentially made useless by other jobs.
Murgleis macc+200!
Lol @ ochain being ilvl150 but god forbid they update rme
