The hilarious thing about it is when you come back in, you're back in gestation so they can't camp you.
"However, as there are no pets that reach the level cap of item level 115 Hunapu or the item level 119 Kerehcatl, we plan on implementing pets with a higher level cap."
Hurray, who else is looking forward to more crabs? Can never have enough crabs!![]()
I can see SE adding restriction to players either via:
1.) Equipment restrictions (no ilvl items)
2.) Subjob restriction and/or Lvl restrictions (dumping your lvl down)
3.) Adding in Gladiator mode some form of TP usage needed for melees to use abilitys and some form of enhanced recast/casting timer on mages to not spam the shit out of sleep/utsusemi or so. Lets say you need in gladiatior mode 100 TP or more to activate any of your abilitys like Berserk/Aggressor etc. on top of the cooldown is a hefty nerf.
Well one restriction is probably in place in "gladiator" mode. You cant swap equipment or the manipulator looses target, so thats allready a slight nerf for the players.
I dont know, all I know is player vs. monster doesnt work, if the player stays as strong as they are and the monsters stay as weak as they are.
It is too late to go back to lateral progression.
The only way out now is to just keep going up vertically. I'm not sure what's left of the playerbase can sustain that though either.
Neither solution is going to restore the quasi-stasis that FFXI was maintaining before Adoulin, but I know which of the two options they have sufficient resources for.
I'm assuming that even with NM / HNM rank to unlock the ws, Fatal Cry will almost never land from adenium, or else you could just fatal cry and then cast break or sleep, and PCs wouldn't be able to do anything while the doom timer ticks down.
Avian / Aquan / Amorph monsters are in the dats, so they might also be added, and then you could use Slug and just try to remove all of a PC's equipment for 5 seconds or whatever it gets after the obvious nerf.
NOV update is looking better and better! So exciting.
Draylo. You're trying too hard. You sound like some random dude paid to try and make something viral and doing a bad job of pretending.
Except we know Draylo's an idiot and considers anything SE puts out for XI to be a blessing. Case in point: oct patch, which delivered NOTHING except QoL upgrades, and yet his response was "WOW THIS PATCH AS SO MUCH AMAZING NEW STUFF".
If you consider each inventory space a new item there's at least 80 right there !
Hey I can finally level my large mobs now!
Looking at the monstrosity page info, has there ever been an instance before of two icons beside a player name?

I'm so used to everything in XI being ingrained in PS2limitations/spaghetti that it's always odd seeing something 'new' mucked about with. I'm surprised it isn't just another icon to replace the I'm-a-mob icon for PvP stuff. They really need to fix the stretched-icons shit also one of these years.
I find Draylo's undying optimism for XI endearing. I suppose he balances out the guys who are eternally cranky and hate everything Matsui and co. put out, but there's a lot less of that here than on XIAH or something.
Man i feel like the FFXI dev team is slower and slower every month with update reveals. They use to post a lot of details every monday when the update was a month away. We'll probably get a test server update like next week or something. I wish they'd give us details and tidbits sooner...
I'm betting right now, a lot of the "support staff" has been cannibalized from FFXI in order to deal with FFXIV's issues. That in turn reduces how comfortable FFXI's big names feel about new content announcements for fear that the groundwork for said new content doesn't get done in time.
I miss Matsui's musings about what they were working on, the direction of the game, etc. It just gave a glimpse into what they were thinking and the reasoning behind it, even if we didn't agree. Honestly pissed that we haven't gotten any tidbits or hints as to what's coming and how it'll work, considering the update is 2-3 weeks away. Guess maybe they want it to be a surprise, but still.. :/ With the state of the game, I think the majority of players, or people that may return to the game, would rather get a bone of information tossed their way, than to be left in the dark.
All we know so far is:
Revamped AF
Possibly revamped relic and empy gear (was that ever clarified? know other languages had it mentioned)
RMEC updates
New area (plus all things that come with new areas, WKR, new coalition ranks, quests, missions, etc)
New Bayld equipment
Hard mode mission fights and BCNMs (still left in the dark if we can expect updated mission gear, ilvl of new gear, etc)
And that's it really. There's more than enough that they could do something as simple as reveal Bayld gear, tease a few of the new fights and their rewards, give us a glimpse at how an RMEC weapon will look or the work needed to make it have an ilvl, etc. Any of those would be great just to keep interest up.
