Yeah, so basically totally floored attack and accuracy for 30 seconds...even if it's only physical that's still really useful.

BST ability sounds like perma-300 TP, perma 3 ready charges. Much more useful with this better description, no need to switch pets to spam abilities.

I am rather impressed with their comments today on the abilities. They actually explained what the abilities were meant to do and how they complement the old ones, ie. PLD's Invincible = self preservation, new PLD ability = group perseveration. I am also excited about the new THF ability focusing on SPs first. This can Help with many fights.

Yeah, they all seem quite good with the updated descriptions and clarifications. That THF one now has incredible utility on many fights. I could see it becoming a fundamental strategy in certain places. Similarly with the PLD ability. One thing that I find confusing about the PLD ability is that it's basically a huge improvement over Invincible (I'm under the assumption that setting an enemies attack power to 1 and flooring its accuracy will essentially make it do no damage). The only thing Invincible has over the new one is the ability to redirect hate towards the PLD as I assume the new ability won't have a massive hate spike associated with it. At least they're on a split timer, so I can't really complain.

So that's all the SP2s? How's it looking overall right now?

God-tier: WAR MNK WHM THF PLD
Good-tier: DRK BST RNG SAM DRG SMN
Okay-tier: BRD NIN BLU COR PUP DNC SCH
    Shit-tier: BLM
    RDM-tier: RDM

    Is that about right?

Wouldn't really put MNK on god-tier, drk looks like it has pretty huge potential for zerg damage. SMN as well, since chain-squall will likely be used to supplement gimp-PD on anything that isn't resistant.

On the downside, they will have an excuse to add enemies, even more fodder ones, 2-houring all over the place and counter your complaint with “Bring more THF-ness”. There’s also already stuff that 2-hours multiple times. Same principle with new PLD ability.
They said they were nerfing Embrava and Perfect Defence, so that there would be no more need to create fights of AoE deathga spam. On the other hand they’re adding overpowered abilities (PLD, WAR, BRD, SMN etc) and refusing to adjust content (ADL, Legion) at the same time to make up the loss.
I just can’t see the days of “Fanatics Drink or die” going any time soon, just more people having to 2-hour to achieve the same goal.

the BST one sounds very good...

basically, it means you can activate the SP, charm or call beast, then Fight and spam Sic and Ready on the mob. It's even better than SMN since no MP is required, although i suppose it costs more (gil) for jugs.

I'd probably still favor Raphie with Aqua Breath spam..
or maybe something like Fantod > Back Heel? lol
    spamming Silence Gas? Dark Spore?
or AoE action with charged whiskers or whirlclaws?
or 1000 needles spam for consistency?

one thing for sure its its definitely much better for utility than the old SP they devised.
I can see it being taken in a few possible directions...

Wild Carrot superhealing ? quick to spam 600+hp curaga's are pretty decent.
TP Drainkiss spam to keep an enemy's TP low?
assuming it can land.. Numbing Noise chainstun?
    or Jettatura spam?

ok realistically not like BST will get a slot in end-game events to do this.. but this just opened up their options for zerging and support functions in older content and within BST-grouping environments.
it also makes old content even more of a cakewalk for BSTs.

The DRG one is lame. The NA forums said 15s recast for 45s jumps. If they unwind the jumps, we get a general nerf. If keep the jumps bound, that's 6 jumps total (3 Spirit and 3 Soul) for the duration of the 2hr and that's just lame.

SMN SP2 used with schock squall is a waste because SS can last 20 seconds, and even on NMs it usually lasts 10+ seconds. It's still semi useful but not on the same guy that used PD because of MP issues.

MNK SP2 is a chakra that doesn't suck... no real use except for a full cure lol. When they decide to remove PD from the game we can talk.

For the most part, it only sounds useful if you're rotating pets to stack a bunch of debuffs. What pets have abilities that would even be worth spamming besides the rabbit?

I've never seen anyone do the math, but I've been assuming abilities like backheel are a dps loss, or break even at best, considering they don't do that much more damage than auto-attacks, seemingly can't crit/da/ta, and inflict both the player and pet with JA delay.

SMN SP2 would work perfectly fine with PD actually because the SP2 supposedly restores MP to full no?

Except they are pretty much are removing PD from the game next patch.
Present PD: 90 seconds, with 45 seconds of almost full immunity
Patch*: 56 seconds, with 28 seconds of almost full immunity (adl's not even gonna split before your PD is starting to wear off)

*This presumes capped skill, merits, and an above average SMN skill set:
    Soulscourge(7)/Vox(3)/xxx/xxx
    AF3+2(9)/AF3(9)/SMN(3)/xxx
    Augur(10)/AF2+2(15)/Evoker(10)/Fervor(4)
    Astute(5)/Cimmerian(5)/AF3+2(6)/Rubeus(10)
    529 skill

Some people may place Anhur in "above average", but that 0.88% drop rate dissuades me, and merits is being generous too, since most alts with SMN lvled wont have SMN skill merits, most SMN's wont even have SMN merits. I've also left out both Legion pants, as I'd quantify those as "above average" as well. I accepted Rubeus Boots since the difference between 4.1 and 0.88 is about 90 fights average. The omission of both pieces of gear is irrelevant as I've docked a maximum of 6 skill total, which wont bump you up an extra second.

Has SE finally realized the only way to make PLD useful is group buffs/potent debuffs?

...Nah, this has to be a fluke.

Against a monster 20 levels above you, setting attack to 1 still leaves them with a ratio of 1.
