That's certainly not an insignificant nerf as far as Legion goes. More buff downtime and no saving yourself from Kaustra til a mage rescues you at the portal.
I wonder if that will still mean you get event skipped when interacting with stuff. Not exactly the same thing but kinda related.
That..will also affect pausing a lot of things. I know people used to pause primal brews a lot (and abuse that). When asked under the old director, we were told oh, that's just part of the game.
Guess it is not meant to be part of the game.
Ugh, so long locking ADL buffs between repops.
Not a huge deal imo. If it does away with event skips I will welcome the change.
Edit: They never said it was intended. They said something like they were aware of it but had no intention of changing it at the time.
I can't find the ref now, but when someone complained about it on the official forum back then, they were basically, oh that's part of the game, we're not going to change it right now. (I may of misremembered)
Full translation. He really felt the need to defend the PD/Embrava changes apparently. I thought the reasoning was pretty apparent, but I guess many didn't feel the same.

I like that he acknowledges the game has degraded into a series of zerg fests and that isn't ok.
Anyone who can't figure out that Embrava/PD damaged the game as much as Abyssean overkill (200k brews, auto-RR3) clearly lives on another world.
Yeah. Either way, I applaud the fact that he took the time to write this up. All of his justifications are sound, and I'm glad they're completely thinking this through (including the probably unpopular removal of the NPC status effect "bug" that should never have been possible in the first place, which shows, if nothing else, that they aren't completely blind to how we're playing the game). If Adoulin is truly intended to be the main source of level 99 content as they say, the Embrava and PD nerfs absolutely need to happen before that content's design is completed. You see the effects that Embrava/PD has had on content design and balance for the last year or two, with each new fight or event added becoming more ridiculous and more reliant on at least one of the two than the last and I think we've all had enough of that.
I think we can breathe a huge sigh of relief based on his statement that Salvage was not designed with Embrava in mind.
Double post, kewl.
Very well thought out post and full of sound reasoning for the changes. I like this guy.
OF is going to go nova though methinks.
Wow, no more buff locking. Then again, no more Embrava so it doesn't really matter. Tabula Rasa was really the main thing worth locking anymore anyway, though I'd lock stuff like Berserk after entering PW BCNMs so I could have it up for ~8 minutes in a row.
The main things I used to use buff locking for were:
1) Maintaining my food if I was soloing and suddenly wanted to afk.
2) Maintaing Signet under essentially the same conditions.
PS. You're a mod now, Slycer. You have the technology to fix your double post.
The next step would be to nerf haste (maybe Byrth's idea) and up the emnity cap. Slowing the current spam WS macro down would introduce more strategy (SC+MB anyone?) and possibly bring real tanking back into play.
It sucks that we can't lock buffs anymore, but I don't really see why people should get upset over an adjustment to something that's clearly a bug.OF is going to go nova though methinks.
Heh, that's pretty much what I used it for...sometimes I'd have a 3+ hour food up before I went to sleep and I'd lock myself on an NPC in upper jeuno while I bazaar'd stuff. The main things I used to use buff locking for were:
1) Maintaining my food if I was soloing and suddenly wanted to afk.
2) Maintaing Signet under essentially the same conditions.
It seems to me that Embrava should be saved for doing nothing but erasing Kaustra now...I don't get the feeling that they plan on taking Kaustra out from Legion/Arch-Diabolos.
