I believe they mentioned adjusting other spells in a similar fashion. It'd be weird to not at least make -gas/-jas and helixes stronger too.

I believe they said based on how this works out they may adjust other spells. Hence why I said if it stays just like this. Yeah if they adjust gas that might make a few mobs scary
Slycer has spoiled us with all those JP dev posts and now this draught has been depressing![]()
Things everyone really needs/wants.
1. Storage access beyond home nation
2. /yell in the other major cities inculding Rabao, Norg, Tav, etc
The original intention was making all towns have the same /yell, which would actually be the useful implementation of it. If people don't want to see them, they can always filter it, so I don't see why the second option is even in consideration (who needs to broadcast across Windurst, really?).
Oh that wasn't directed at you, Slycer. I was just missing the more active dev posts of last year. There has not been any talk about test server updates in a while.
With the way elemental magic seems to be getting a huge reform, I wonder if Summoners will be getting some sort of fix as well? With such emphasis on speed and constant barrages, they're looking even more bleak than usual...
The elemental magic reform isn't going to be enough to "fix" the current problem of magic damage being generally undesirable as compared to melee damage. Would take a lot more than 10-15% better damage and increased MP efficiency to do that. I don't really see anything short of a system-wide overhaul to really mess with monster damage resistances really bringing nuking back to a central role (for example, take multiple entire families of monsters and give them +25% MDT/-25% PDT and vice versa). Frankly I'm not sure why so few monsters in the game have significant MDT-/PDT+ or MDT+/PDT-spreads. Most other FF games do that as standard fare.
A large part of magic dmg being undesirable is the whole emnity/tp spam issue. There is less benefit from trying the old tanking methods when everyone gunna die without PD anyways. And no point when a single ws or a couple of good nukes will send the mob away from the tank.
And a nuke here and there while not getting beaten wont and shouldn't except on a few occasions beat good dds constantly beating a mob. Since melees take the risk by standing there on the front lines they should have more dmg. But in current situation alot of the risk has been minimized
That'll happen when Red Mage gets a function in the game that can never be replaced by some other mage class job and is deemed worthy of bringing to events because it changes how the pace of combat flows or how survival in combat is influenced.
There are a lot of important looking posts up that are too technical for me to get through with google translate.\
Very basic:
1) They're going to nerf monster level in Neo-NI based on what floor you're on.
2) The Legion adjustments make me think their Attack/Defense notes were about eliminating level correction? I think if they do this they're going to play with monster attack/defense still?
3) Odin v2 is the same as Legion?
... holy shit, they're definitely talking about eliminating level correction at least for Monster -> Player in Andolin.
I posted my translation of the first post, working on the second now. It seems that eliminating the level correction is a proposal, but not a certainty. The other possibility is that they only eliminate the correction for SoA and beyond.
Edit: Both posts up
Should note that while eliminating the level correction will be a hugely beneficial boon to DDs against higher level mobs, the other correction will lead to the downfall of Counterstance tanking and will probably cause people to think twice about using Berserk, etc., in certain situations. Interesting confirmation on the 50% thing, either way.
Thanks guys, lots of good info. I just wish we had an idea when things are actually going to be implemented. These changes can be so positive and it makes playing the game now feel a bit shallow.
Reading the Attack/Defense post, it sounds like they're just talking about raising the cap on monster Ratio and eliminating monster level correction (the Ratio bonus monsters get for attacking players that are a lower level than them), which would primarily affect Monster -> Player damage.
But then reading the Legion and Odin posts makes it sound like it's going to get easier for us to do damage!
Man, if they actually eliminate level correction then I might be able to use Dancer at events.
Edit: Also, I think SE just indirectly confirmed that monster Ratio caps at 2.0.
I don't think so, because players don't get an attack boost when they're fighting monsters that are lower level than them. What will probably be affected is Avatars and BST pets.
