Dear valued FINAL FANTASY XI player,
We have an announcement regarding an important change for FINAL FANTASY XI in-game text support. At present, players are able to choose between Japanese, English, French, and German language options, but due to the decreasing numbers of French and German language players, we have had to make a difficult but necessary decision on the support for these two languages. As such, we will be removing the French and German language options from FINAL FANTASY XI after the July 2014 version update, but will continue to support Japanese and English. Of course, French and German-speaking players will be able to continue playing using their current characters and settings in an English language environment. (Note that some macros may need to be modified.)
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our francohpone and germanophone players for their fantastic long-time dedication to FINAL FANTASY Xl, and will continue t o provide French and German speaking customer support services.
Although it greatly saddens us that we will no longer be able to offer in-game text for these two languages, English localisation support will continue, and we hope that you will continue to experience exciting adventures in the world of Vana’diel.

New ergon weapons, which serve the same function as mythic weaponry, will be introduced for rune fencers and geomancers. They may be obtained by completing their applicable quests, as detailed below.
Geomancer Ergon Weapon Obtainment
Geomancers must have fulfilled the following conditions to undertake the quest.
Have completed the quest "The Communion"
Be at the rank of "legend" for all coalitions
Are not currently undertaking the identical quest for rune fencers
Speak to Nhili Uvolep in Eastern Adoulin to begin the quest.
Rune Fencer Ergon Weapon Obtainment
Rune fencers must have fulfilled the following conditions to undertake the quest.
Have completed the quest "Destiny's Device"
Be at the rank of "legend" for all coalitions
Are not currently undertaking the identical quest for geomancers
Speak to Gaddiux in Western Adoulin to begin the quest.

The Second Double Capacity Point Campaign! (05/01/2014)
It is our great pleasure to announce another Double Capacity Point Campaign, aimed at all those adventurers who wish to take their jobs to new heights!
Campaign Period:
Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 11:00 p.m. (PDT) to Monday, May 4, 2014 at the same hour
During this time period, all enemies will yield twice the capacity points that they normally would. As new job point categories are scheduled to be introduced with the May version update, there could hardly be a better time to take up sword or staff and start slaying savage fiends!
Job Adjustments (5/2/2014)
In the May update, we plan on adjusting some jobs as well as adding new food.
Paladin
Reprisal: Instead of reflecting HP/2 damage, it will now reflect HPx2 total damage.
Corsair
The following rolls will be enhanced:
Wizard's Roll/Warlock's Roll/Gallant's Roll/Ninja's Roll/Puppet Roll
※The penalty for busting will also be increased.
Blue Mage
Help text when setting blue magic will display traits obtained and their potency
The following traits will increase in potency as more spells are set:

Geomancer
The damage taken reduction on luopan will change from approximately 30% to 50%

Expansion of Trusts (5/2/2014)
In the May update we will be allowing you to take your Trusts into Campaign Areas and Campaign Battles. Following this we want to further expand the areas they can be called, starting with the Treasures of Aht Urhgan areas, so that you will be able to call them in all normal field areas.
As for Missions and Battlefields, we want to put priority on allowing you to take Trusts into battlefields that are required for you to be able to earn more Trusts. For this reason it may be a bit longer before we allow Trusts into the missions for the Rise of the Zilart expansion.
Ark Angels (4/30/2014)
We apologize for the congestion issues in La'Loff Amphitheater during peak times. In the June update, we are discussing whether to make the adjustment such that REM chapters won't be random in other battlefields. In addition, we are also lowering the cost of entry for battlefields not found in La'Loff Amphitheater. In this way, we hope that players looking to obtain Rem's Tale can choose battlefields other than the ones in La'Loff Amphitheater. We're discussing other methods of reducing congestion in this area, so please stay tuned.
Ark Angels (5/2/2014)
Looking through the comments, I can see that many players want to participate in the Ark Angel fights to obtain exclusive equipment. However, I also see many players simply seeking Rem's Tales, and we hope to alleviate the congestion with the changes to make other battlefields more attractive to players as we discussed earlier.
Many of the items dropped from the Ark Angels were designed as exclusives, and there is no plan on making them obtainable elsewhere at this time, but because of the continued congestion, items like the Seraphicaller and Divinator are under consideration. I will give you more details if something comes of the discussion.
In the June Update, we will be changing battlefields outside La'Loff Amphitheater so that they cost 10 merit points to enter. We hope that by challenging the Very Easy and Easy difficulties, even players that have not played in higher end content can clear it.

New Pet Jugs (5/7/2014)
Sorry to have kept you all waiting for pet jugs, but since we wanted to adjust pet jobs in large strokes we have been focusing on addressing the accuracy issues of pets by introducing new food. For the pet and master food this time, we have taken into consideration that pets cannot receive song effects so the effects on pets are quite large. We plan on continuing to add pet jugs in the future, but in the July update we first want to add HQ versions of jugs such as the Swirling Broth. With these you should be able to reach level 119 for pets even without the merit Beast Affinity.
First, please look forward to the food that will be coming in the May update.
Future Weapon Skill Adjustments

It’s been quite a while since Matsui mentioned about revamps to elemental weapon skills and I just wanted to make a follow-up post and mention that the development team is looking into adjustments not only for elemental weapon skills, but weapon skills as a whole.
With a few exceptions, we have been seeing that in high-level battles that there is a trend of only using powerful weapon skills such as those learned through merit points. Due to this we would like to increase the power and stat modifiers for all weapon skills, including relic, mythic, and empyrean, in order to expand the number of choices during battle.
We will be performing the adjustments to elemental weapon skills at the same time as the aforementioned adjustment, and once I have further details to share I will make another follow-up.
(Please also note that these adjustments will not be nerfing any existing weapon skills, so please don’t worry)
Linkage.Quality of Life Improvements
A new NPC for trading in Adoulin Traditional and Records of Eminence weapons and armor will be introduced.
In the sub-quest Cosmic Elucidation, Sanraku in Aht Urhgan Whitegate will provide trigger items in exchange for the minimum amount of zeni whenever a server is restarted for reasons such as maintenance.
The following options will be added to the config menu on the title screen.
Logout Destination
Enables the player to set whether he would like to return to the title screen or the character select screen upon logging out.
Background Aspect Ratio
Enables the player to set the resolution of the title screen background.
* These features are only available on the PlayStation2 and Windows versions of FINAL FANTASY XI.

Pet Adjustments (5/13/2014)
The mushrooms were set as a high harvest rate in Cirdas Caverns but if the broth becomes more popular it might be an issue, so we're discussing making the funguar enemies in Cirdas Caverns and Sih Gates drop the mushroom as well.Generally I only see one Verboshroom appear on auction per day (Each one costs about 10k so making a stack would cost me about 30k), with that the way it is I don't think this adjustment will help much.
As we have stated before, we plan on further adjusting pets in the future. We have also noted the frailty of pets in certain types of content, but we decided to first try adjusting pet accuracy.I'm afraid of the devs thinking that the problems with pets stop at accuracy alone.
RUN GEO WSs (5/14/2014)
For the May update, we have made it so that these WSs can only be used while wearing the Ergon weapons. However, like the Empyrean and Mythic WSs, we plan on allowing players to use them without the weapons, so we are preparing the quests to unlock them right now.
Throwing Skill (5/14/2014)
Throwing weapons are currently not useful for combat, and while there is no plans to add throwing weapon skills, we plan on adding ilevel throwing weapons. As for shurikens, in order to increase the opportunities in which they can be used, we wish to give them special effects instead of simply adding new throwing weapons. This goes alongside numerous other development projects, so please give us some time for this.
Lamia No.9 (5/14/2014)
Lamia No. 9 is certainly a notorious foe in Aht Urhgan. I asked the development team for her secrets.Please educate me!
At ilevel 117, 684 defense, I still take 1000 damage per hit from Lamia No. 9. Please tell me the secrets of her power!
Due to the nature of besieged this can cause this NM to become very powerful, but I hope this has helped you better understood the mechanics.The Lamia No. 9's elementals will increase in level each time she is hit with a magic spell. Thus, if Lamia No. 9 has taken a lot of magic damage and has plenty of elementals, she will become incredibly powerful offensively.
Army's Paeon V (5/14/2014)
As you have pointed out, it is somewhat difficult to obtain at this time, so the development team is discussing other ways of obtaining the scroll.This scroll only comes from ENMs, which has a low participation rate. Do you think you could add other ways of obtaining it?
Pet Adjustments 5/14/2014)
I checked again, and I must apologize for giving the wrong information. To talk the game's specifications, Cirdas Caverns has a mining list, but this list is consulted when considering things such as what items you obtain from clearing Reives.You mention Verboshroom being a high harvest rate, but I have not found this to be the case myself. Also this is the first I've heard of it being available from Cirdas Caverns.
As we mentioned earlier, we also plan on making the mushroom easier to obtain from Funguar type enemies, so please wait for the June update.
Atomos (5/15/2014)
We are preparing new quests in Wings of the Goddess to obtain this new summon, as well as high level battlefields and trusts. We plan on implementing this sometime in July. As it is quite a volume of content, please give us some time.
As for the abilities of Atomos, he will be similar to Alexander and Odin in that he will be a one-time use avatar during Astral Flow. We think players can consider what features they want to take advantage of when considering these three summons.
Auction House Split (5/16/14)
I understand players might want a certain way of arranging the items but there's limitations on how many categories we can have so it was decided to be the way it is currently:For the Misc category, could you split them between Abyssea and Skirmish items or something like that?
I can't think of anything for the alchemy ones though.
Alchemy items that can be used for things like fireworks is placed in Alchemy 2, the rest are placed in Alchemy 1.
Misc. Items used for content and NM popping etc are placed in Misc 2, and the rest are placed in Misc 1.
Hope this will be useful to players.
CP Chains (5/16/14)
Because CP is content meant for level 99 players, the rules are different compared to normal EXP chaining. The time between chain kills can be reduced to 30 seconds at the shortest. Thus players may run into instances where their EXP chain does not end, but their CP chain does.
Rem's Tales (5/16/14)
To directly answer your question, there's currently no plans to have an NPC that will store Rem's Tales, but we wish to continue improving storage space for players (Such as through the Mog Wardrobe). For example, in the June update we will be allowing several items such as ores to stack. Please give us some time to work on it.Rem's tales take up 10 bag spaces, can we have these handled as points instead?
Random Q and A for May Update (5/16/14)
-There has been no increase in player coalition ranks from Legend.
-Coalition ranks are groups into 3 upgrades displayed at a time, servers that have coalitions dropped to rank 6 will only see one option and won't be able to select chimney
-We're adding red bean paste mochi in the future, as to what effect it might have, please use your imagination! Sticky Rice will be available from the Mog Garden in the future.
Salvage Instances (5/19/14)
We apologize for any inconvenience players may have run into with congestion in Salvage areas. Although it's possible for us to change it so that every area gives the same amount of Alexandrite, we feel that this would simply shift the problem so that there would be congestion in the easiest area.
Last weekend we have made it so that if someone enters salvage (as in, creates a layer area) there would be an interval before another could be created. We hope through this we can reduce the number of instances at once and help server stability.
If the server continues to fail in the future, we may add limitations such as not allowing players to enter the same salvage area if it has just been entered until a certain amount of time has passed. For example, you would not be able to enter Arrapago Remnants, but you would be able to enter Silver Sea Remnants. We will give you more information if this idea goes forward.
Buffalo Horn (5/19/14)
We have made settings so that non-NMs in Abyssea do not drop precious items, leading to the low drop rate of Buffalo Horns.What's with the drop rate on these? I fought over 250 Buffalo in Abyssea but I did not get a drop.
We apologize for the inconvenience you've had while hunting these monsters, but we recommend players to try fighting the Buffalo in areas like Uleguerand Range too.
Healing Eminence Records (5/19/14)
For records that involve healing amount, we are concerned players may safely complete these tasks by equipping HP-changing equipment and thus did not allow things such as a simple repeatable objective.
Thus, in the next version update, we plan on adding new things like Daily Objectives to Eminence Records that can be undertaken by a variety of jobs.
Random Q and A (5/19/14)
-While the grimoire enhancement JP for SCH cannot affect helix spells until level 3, it was set this way as the idea was to adjust the potency of these effects for level 10 and 30
-There was no changes in the the accuracy of V. Flourish nor any changes in enemy magic evasion, if there continues to be issues with the magic accuracy we ask players to report it as a glitch
-Aldo, Lion, and Zeid each have their own abilities. It seems if you call them all at once they all become a bit stronger.
-Moogle increases magic skillup rate, and this effect stacks with things such as Pitarus. He also has a refresh effect if you keep him close, so please use him!

Trusts (5/19/14)
We wish to continue improving the battle capabilities of Trusts, and that starts with our planned adjustment in June that allows you to call them while in parties. After this, we will take a look at everyone's feedback, and if we determine it is necessary to adjust them, we can add features like the one you suggested.What do you guys think of this idea: Trust Combinations, where if you defeat monsters alongside your Trusts they will gain temporary boosts, such as Acc+, Matk+, HP+ etc. These would activate when you create skillchains or magic burst alongside your trusts, and would disappear upon zoning, similar to a GOV buff.
Since this is related to their performance in battle, we may consider doing this. However since each Trust would need lots of dialogue created individually, this may take us some time.Do you think you could add messages telling us a Trust's Name and TP, as well as possible WSs?
Even if there are multiple people participating in a Reive, it is possible for this to happen if you leave the Reive. We recognize it is inconvenient so we will discuss it. Please give us some time and I can give you an answer.If I log out while having enmity on a Reive monster and log back in, I will be unable to recall my Trust unless I zone or die and reraise. Do you think you could change this?
We have checked, and it seems this would be very difficult from a system standpoint. Dismissing your Trust is considered an event, which is something we disable if your character is in combat status.Do you think you could make it so we could dissolve our party with Trusts while in combat?
Alchemy Categories (5/20/14)
The cluster items are usable, and thus we have placed them under Alchemy 2. We understand some people may find it more convenient to have the memories and clusters under the same category, but we wish to keep the policy consistent and make usable items under alchemy 2.Why are memories and the corresponding clusters in different categories?
Maat Trust (5/20/14) AKA Dev Response OCD edition
Maat, as a Monk, will use abilities like Mantra and Perfect Counter, something not seen in Trusts up to this point. However it is true that Naja, Zazarg and Prishe exist as monk types already, so our statement that he was our first Monk Trust was an error, and thus we will correct that portion. We apologize for the confusion.I enjoyed watching the 7th Freshly Picked Vana'Diel. There was just one thing that bothered me, that it was mentioned Maat is the first Monk type Trust.
If I am not mistaken, when you added the Naja trust she was mentioned as a Monk type. Or is it that she uses Dodge and Focus so she's like a Monk, but not really?
Or were we supposed to interpret the statement as, Maat is the first Monk Trust that fights with his fists?
I know it's not that important, it just confused me a bit.
Imperial Flour (5/22/2014)
As we've stated in an earliest post, we do plan on making Flour stackable soon, so please give us some more time.Do you think you could make Imperial Flour available in Adoulin the same way San d'Orian Flour is? Although if you made it stackable, it wouldn't be an issue.

As you have deduced, the Yaegasumi effect help text displays as ten times what the current UI shows. Currently the UI is not unified in its display of information, but we plan on fixing this in the June update. The maximum TP will be displayed as 3000, and effects that were previously not able to be displayed completely, such as Regain +15, will be.Yaegasumi Effect Up gives +30 TP per level, but wasn't the intent to make it so that level 30 is the highest? If that's the case, isn't it odd we'll be able to get +900 TP Bonus from this category, or is this another case of displaying something at 10 times the amount?
Every Shout is Asking for Monks (5/22/2014)
I won't say we'll weaken Monks but we are thinking of ways that other classes will be able to defeat Monks. As presented in the recent Freshly Picked Vana'Diel, the June update will bring with it adjustments to weapon skills. At the same time, we will also be adjusting the formula for how TP is gained, and try to reduce the disadvantages that come with certain delay values. We hope through these adjustments, the gap between attacker classes will shrink, so please check it out when the next update comes.I beleive I recall reading plans to adjust damage classes so they were on more equal ground, I'm wondering if this has progressed at all?
In addition to this, we are thinking of making monsters that are strong to blunt and breath (as in, Formless strikes) damage, or enemies that are vulnerable to magic damage, etc. Through this you may find certain attacking jobs more suited to certain content.
We do think there are several pro/cons to this idea though, and we don't have plans to make it so that a single job is always optimal for something, so we would like if players would give us feedback on this solution.

The next version update for FINAL FANTASY XI is scheduled to come blazing into Vana'diel in mid-June, bringing with it improvements to various weapon skills; changes to the TP system; and a variety of improvements to synthesis, including kit recipes to make gathering ingredients easier, a convenient synthesis history list, and improvements to item stacking.
On the combat front, steel yourself for a merit point expansion, geomancer and rune fencer weapon skill quests, a means to improve weapons acquired in reives, a new Mog Garden rank, fresh Seekers of Adoulin quests to steep you in the lore of this fine city, new Records of Eminence objectives, and Trust improvements such as being able to use alter egos in parties and new types of content.

Skillchain Resistance (5/23/2014)
Matsui here.People have reported increased skillchain resistance from monsters. If monster magic evasion has not been adjusted, then perhaps there's something wrong with magic accuracy skill?
This patch we have not changed resist rates or magic evasion, but after looking into it, we've found a glitch.
This glitch us "Under certain conditions, skillchains will be resisted". This glitch has, in fact, existed for several years. As to what these conditions are, they change from time to time and it is not an easily reproducible glitch, so I cannot explain simply.
Currently we are investigating whether this glitch only happened to resurface because of the recent patch.
We have considered fixing the glitch, but originally it was planned that in the June update we would redo how skillchain resistance was calculated, so the glitch was left unfixed this patch.
For now, I am letting players understand the situation.
Eminence Records (5/23/2014)
As we reported in an earlier post, we do not plan on adding easily repeatable objectives, but rather daily objectives that can be easily completed by jobs that currently have trouble. For example, in June there will be objectives such as "HP Healed", "Apply buff (Song or ability)". These objectives will be available once a day. I don't think this will allow jobs currently having trouble to catch up with the jobs earning points the fastest, but we hope it will reduce the difference.
Fellows (5/23/2014)
We checked and have confirmed there is currently a glitch. We plan on fixing this with the June update, so please give us some time.I fought level ~100 crabs in Gustav for about 2 hours and saw no change in my Fellow's EXP.
