    Domain Invasion (2016/2/16)

    Hello, everyone.

    I have a follow-up to my previous post about Unity chat announcements.

    Currently, the development team is in the midst of discussing adjustments for Domain Invasion, and once these adjustments have been finalized, they will decide on how they would like to address Unity chat specifically. At the moment, they are looking to address this issue with three different patterns:

    • Make an announcement in chat with the current system.
    • Make an announcement, but limit the information a bit more.
    • Stop the announcements.

    The pattern adopted will be dependent on the length in which it takes for the notorious monster to respawn. If the frequency of announcements is too high, there is a possibility for bugs, so we’re looking into lowering this.

    Mog Wardrobe (2016/2/16)

    Greetings!

    A quick update on the Mog Wardrobe.

    While I mentioned the other week that loading time will always occur, we’ve actually already begun making adjustments that allow you to use equipment a bit faster than before. What we’re looking into doing is changing the order that storage is loaded so that the loading order becomes the following: your inventory, Mog Wardrobe, and then all your other storage. The aim of this change is to ease the situations where you are not able to use equipment right after changing zones. Furthermore, in terms of your Mog House, we will be making it so loading priority is given to your Mog Safe, and this will speed up the rate in which your furnishings are displayed.

    We’ll also be making some adjustments to the item loading icon so that there is a visual differentiation between the equipment loading icon and the storage loading icon.

They started giving characters definite ages in Aht Urhgan since it lets them design the time course of events in the game. Matsui does not dare to speak Shantotto’s age.

    1. At one point in development, Lion was considered as a last boss. Matsui recalls that this was one of many ideas being thrown around while Masato Kato was still handling the main scenario of the game. Matsui recalls (but he’s not entirely sure) that it involved alternate realities. They also wanted to solve the issue that as players reached higher levels, old areas would become deserted. Eventually this idea did happen, but of course it was in the form of things like Dynamis and A Crystalline Prophecy.
    2. Early in creation, relic weapons could break. Matsui insists he was not the one who brought it up and he opposed the idea. Ultimately this idea didn’t happen because of the obvious reasons- their original vision for Relic Weapons is that it would take approximately a year to complete one.
    3. Cid was considered as a Unity Leader, as well as Valeriano, Octavien, and more. They wanted to have a balance amongst races and genders though, so they ended up not using them.

    Conquest (2016/2/18, 2/20)

    Some recent additions to the game require items from conquest vendors. Given that most players are spending their time in Adoulin and Escha and barely ever gain levels in old areas, they are often under beastman control. Are there any plans on solving this issue somehow?
    We are aware this is a concern amongst players, so we will explain some of the settings for beastman-controlled areas. As players are aware, influence on an area can be increased by defeating monsters, but we want players to know that there is actually no specific demand beyond that. In other words, even if a player gains no experience from a monster, the influence in that area will increase.

    We think if players try spending a little bit of time defeating monsters in these areas at their own pace, they will find it’s actually surprisingly easy to gain control of these areas.

    Isn’t this contradicted by some NPC dialogue in the game?
    When attempting to gain control of a beastman-dominated region, simply subduing monsters is enough to gain influence for the Three Nations. However, when it comes to the competitive Conquest between the three nations, it is a different story. It is here the NPC’s dialogue is relevant- fighting weak monsters will not be helpful.

    Domain Invasion Unity Chat (2016/2/18)

    We have looked into the suggestion that we should try adding a special message system just for Domain Invasion, but that route may be difficult to implement. One method we could do this is by adding a system message to the Escha and Reisenjima areas, but this means players will be unable to see the message when they are in the city or out in field areas.

    Currently, we think it’s best if we continued the discussion on how to manage this issue once we implement the repop time adjustment for these notorious monsters.

    Cursna (2016/2/19)

    Now I’m curious. I don’t suppose you could tell us how high the removal rate is when your healing skill is, say, 500?
    Items and spells have different effects, and I will explain both below.

    The white magic spell “Cursna” has its success rate vary with Healing Magic skill. At the lowest value of 0 skill, the removal rate is 10%. At the highest skill of 500, the removal rate is 30%. As we explained in a previous post, this rate can then be adjusted using equipment.

    When the item “Holy Water” is used, regardless of the user’s other status, the removal rate is 33%.

    Heavy Metal Plates (2016/2/22)

    Can you make whatever content is planned for April drop these?
    After April, we plan on adding methods to obtain certain items in short supply, including Heavy Metal Plates. We think it will be easier than it is now to obtain these items, so we hope you can be patient just a bit longer.

    New Furnishings (2016/2/22)

    I’m interested in seeing barbecue sets.

    In regards to furnishing appropriate for the planned Mog Patio, the addition of a barbecue set would be difficult. Currently, we are planning on adding furnishings which provide a verdant feel, such as Trees and Bushes.

    Voidwatch (2016/2/23)

    Can you:
    -Make an option to purchase 99 displacers at once
    --Allow cells to stack to 99
    -Add a cell which increases all alignments at once
    We should be able to allow cells to stack to 99. However, this will require that the auction listings also change, so please allow some time for discussion of the potential effects of this change.

    Feels like she casts Ballad when I’ve only used a little bit of MP yet when I actually need it when other Trusts are out of MP, she will refuse to cast it. Can you please explain what kind of routine you’ve programmed for her?

    Maybe you should change it so that Ulmia only casts Marches when the player is a melee class and casts Ballads when the player is a caster class? Failing that, an Ulmia II who could fill this function would be nice.
    When MP has fallen to a certain amount, Bard Trusts will prioritize Ballad. We design Trusts with the idea that they will respond to the situation, and Bard Trusts are designed with the intent that they will cast whatever songs they feel the party is most deficient in. If the party needs accuracy, they will cast Madrigal, and if the party needs MP, they will cast Ballad.

    A Bard who only casts Marches would certainly be useful for front line jobs, but it goes against the basic concept used in the design of Trust AI, so we must carefully consider this before we make any changes.

    I got a Goblin Mess Tin. What does this have to do with Abjurations?
    This is working as intended. When the Goblin Mystery Box attempts to give you an items marked rare that you already have, you will instead get a replacement item from a certain list. We decided to make this the setting to avoid forcefully narrowing the item choice from the box. We hope for your understanding.

    Domain Invasion (2016/2/24)

    Perhaps set pop times, like 0:00 Zitah 0:20 Ru’Aun 0:40 Reisenjima 1:00 Zitah etc? That way there’s no need for announcements at all.
    There are some on the team who have come up with an idea similar to this, with the idea that only one battle is available at any given time. However, this means that a wait time of up to 1 hour can occur. Due to the nature of Elvorseals, we think it would be beneficial for these battles to take place more often.

    Currently, we are thinking of adjusting the repop time on the notorious monsters to 15 minutes. We are also planning on adjusting the announcements in unity chat at the same time.

    Chocobo Wildgrass (2016/2/25)

    Let us stack Chocobo wildgrass items to 99 and allow us to trade using Chocobucks,
    We are currently discussing allowing players to trade Chocobucks for Chocobo wildgrass items. However, allowing stacking the items to 99 must be considered carefully before we make such a change, due to how it can affect the auction house.

    Heavy Metal plates (2016/2/25)

    Rather than adding new ways of obtaining, wouldn’t it just be better to increase the drop rate in VW? That would probably be less work.
    The battle content “Voidwatch” was designed for Alliances. Because of the nature of the way drops are handled, items in Voidwatch have a much lower drop rate than would otherwise be seen. Because adjusting the drop rates in Voidwatch would mean we would need to redesign the content, we believe it would be better to make a new way for players to obtain these items.

    Kupo Shield (2016/2/26)

    Greetings, kupo!

    The Kupo Shield was designed to be a special item for Mog Bonanza, and at the moment there are no plans to introduce alternative avenues for obtaining it.
    However, in terms of synthesis, the development team is currently in the midst of planning adjustments and additions.
    Once I have details and a time frame, I will be sure to update you.

    Ulmia (2016/2/26)

    I shall explain a bit about the settings for the Trust “Ulmia”.

    Ulmia will begin casting songs when she does not have 2 song effects on her, or when the song effects are close to wearing off (blinking). At this time, Ulmia will consider what songs will be best for the party.

    For the song “Ballad”, she will check the amount of MP percentage of the casters* in the party. She will use the lowest amount of MP in the party as a reference for deciding if Ballad is appropriate. If Ulmia does not use Ballad, it is very likely because that when she decided on her behavior, the conditions for her casting Ballad were not met yet.

    It should be also noted that, since Ulmia can use the ability “Pianissimo”, she can also determine that a single-target Ballad is enough, and in these cases she will instead use a different song.

    I’ve seen Apururu’s HP and MP fluctuating when engaging in battle. Is this a bug?
    We have confirmed a bug involving status bonuses for Unity Leader Trusts influenced by Unity Ranking. We are planning on adjusting it in the next update, so we apologize for any inconvenience caused until then.

    Acumen, Fend (2016/3/3)

    Greetings,

    Based on reports we received regarding certain geomancy spells, we took a look at the effect values. After investigation, we discovered the effects for Indi-Acumen, Indi-Fend, Geo-Acumen, and Geo-Fend were higher than the values we have originally expected. The correct values can be found in this post.

    We have considered several ways to address this; however, we have decided to adjust the values to follow our the originally designed value. We’re planning to address this in the next version update.

    Adoulin Mission Necklaces (2016/3/3)

    I want to exchange the necklace reward from the Adoulin Missions.
    We apologize for the late response to this issue. Currently we have two issues regarding this matter.
    First is that these items are closely related to the Adoulin Missions, which have many variable states for us to examine.
    Second is that we allowed these items to have very high stats because of their restriction to Reive areas, so we must discuss any possible cost for switching these items before moving forward.
    We don’t have a specific date yet, but once we’ve cleared the above two issues, we will report back to you.

    Voidwatch (2016/3/3)

    We have noted the feedback of many players involving difficult-to-obtain items like Heavy Metal Plates. As mentioned before, due to the core design philosophy behind Voidwatch, we have no plans on increasing the drop rate. However, we are thinking of making the following changes.

    -Make it possible to start a battle using the Voidstones stocked on the NPC “Voidwatch Officer”
    We wish to make it possible to use the Voidstones on the NPC “Voidwatch Officer” to start a battle, consuming one per battle. As before, you will still be able to start battles using the Voidstones on your character. If your character has no Voidstones in stock, you will not be eligible for treasure, and you will be unable to initiate battles.

    -Make “Cell” items have 3 times the effect
    As we mentioned before, there are some issues with making these items stack to 99, so in place of this change, we wish to make it so that using a single cell will max out the alignment of the respective color.

    We hope by doing this, the content will be easier to access than before. The weakness and alignment system will stay as-is for now, but during the campaign scheduled for April, we will be observing the situation and revisiting these adjustments if necessary.

    Klimaform (2016/3/4)

    Can the dev team explain the reasoning behind making Klimaform a Dark Magic spell? All the other “Tactics”* spells are considered Enhancing. This makes it so that we cannot use certain stratagems with Klimaform.
    When creating “Tactics” type spells, as a rule we have the White Magic ones be classified as Enhancing Magic and the Black Magic ones classified as Dark Magic. The spell Klimaform is a Black Magic spell, thus it is listed as a Dark Magic spell.

    *In the Japanese version of the game, many Scholar spells and abilities are named with a more “tactician” flavor.
    策 (Saku) means “Tactic” and refers to the spells Animus Augeo, Animus Minuo, Klimaform, and Adloquium.

    Extra info for the curious:
    Storm spells are called 陣 (jin), meaning “Formation”
    Helixes are called 計略 (keiryaku), meaning “Stratagem”
    Stratagems are called 戦術魔道書 (senjutsu-madousho), meaning “Spellbook of Strategies”
    Individual stratagems generally end with 章 (shou), meaning “Chapter”
    Actually, lots of the Scholar JAs are directly named after actual Chinese/Japanese strategem proverbs. Tabula Rasa, for instance, is named 連環計 (renkankei) after the 35th stratagem in the Chinese book, 36 Stratagems.


    Hinamatsuri Dolls in the Mog Garden (2016/3/4)

    I know these have been around for a while, but I’m really wondering why these dolls sometimes show up so dark? Makes them kinda scary!

    Shouldn’t Hinamatsuri Dolls have a brighter color scheme to them to fit the mood of the occasion, or is there perhaps some reason for this coloration?
    The lighting on furnishings varies with rendering engines. We try to adjust them so that they are pleasing to look at regardless of platform, but there will still be cases like yours where they show up unusually dark.

    It should also be noted that these furnishings were made with the much brighter lighting of the Mog House in mind, so when placed in outdoors lighting like the Mog Gardens, it may appear different than usual. We hope players can understand.

    Klimaform (2016/3/7)

    Why is Klimaform a black magic spell? The only similar situation I can think of is Dread Spikes being Dark Magic as opposed to other Spike spells which are Enhancing.
    The reason Klimaform was made a black magic spell was that it was intended to enhance mainly black magic spells. Because an adjustment of Klimaform to being a White Magic spell can cause a large change in how it is used, we currently have no plans on making such an adjustment.

    How much magic accuracy does Klimaform add under weather, exactly?
    Regardless of Dark Magic Skill, Klimaform will give Magic Accuracy +15.

    Godhands (2016/3/7)

    I wish to explain a bit about the Relic, Mythic, Empyrean, and Aeonic Hand-to-Hand Weapons.

    The weapons in each category of Relic, Mythic, and Empyrean weapons had consistent D values set with other weapons of their category in proportion to their delay. (When comparing the different categories, Mythic Weapons were given a lower D value due to their multihit capability) However, we have found that the Aeonic Weapon “Godhands” has an unusually high D value when compared to the respective weapon type of the above categories. In this case, it is not the case that the Relic, Mythic and Empyrean weapons are significantly weaker for their category as some players suspect.

    We currently have no plans to make adjustments to these items, but if we were to do so, it would not be an adjustment to increase the D values on the Relic, Mythic, and Empyrean Weapons, but rather an increase to the delay on the Aeonic Weapon “Godhands”.

    Killer Traits (2016/3/14)

    The intimidation rates of Killer Traits are as follows:

    Level 1: 8%
    Level 2: 10%
    Level 3: 12%

    There are no effects other than intimidation, but it does affect things like special abilities and magic spells, so we hope players find it useful. Blue Mages, as players have pointed out, can achieve Level 3 Killer Traits.

    Overdrive (2016/3/17)

    When an automaton is defeated during Overdrive and recalled, the stat bonuses from Job Points remains, but the other effects disappear. Is this a bug?
    The player’s displayed icon for Overdrive is there for the convenience of players. Since the effects of Overdrive are applied to the Automaton, these effects are lost when the Automaton is defeated, including the Haste and Status Ailment Resistance effects.

    The added bonuses from the Job Points for Overdrive Effect improves the stats of the Automaton, which refers to data from the master, and thus this effect continues as long as the Icon is there.

    Pet Augments On Herculean (2016/3/18)

    We have confirmed a bug regarding Arcane Glyphs on Herculean armor.

    It is currently impossible to obtain the stats Pet: VIT+, Pet: MND+, and Pet: CHR+ through pet type augments. We are planning on addressing this issue in the next version update, so we apologize for any inconvenience until then.

    Unity Shirts (2016/3/23)

    Please tell us details of what the bonuses on these items are.
    Items such as the “Apururu Shirt” will give status bonuses to the Unity Leader, and change the line spoken by the leader at the time of summoning. We asked the person in charge of these items and he noted that “while each separate bonus may be relatively small, when combined with things such as the Ranking Bonus it becomes far more significant.”

    As some players suspect, the Shirt does not add any new magic or abilities.

    We should note that currently, there is a bug in the bonuses from Unity Rankings and Unity Armor, and this will be corrected in the April Version Update. We apologize for the inconvenience until then.

    Chat Chimes (2016/3/23)

    Can you allow Linkshell and Linkshell 2 chat channels to also have the chime option?
    We have no plans on expanding this system. We placed this option on tells and party invites to reduce the frequency of players not noticing these chat messages. We feel that further adding to this function will detract from its original purpose. We hope for your understanding in this matter.

    Store TP on Chironic (3/24)

    Why can’t we get Store TP on Chironic Pieces?
    This is working as intended. However, if players use Dark Matter to attach Arcane Glyphs to Chironic Armor Pieces, it is possible to gain the Store TP stat.

    Pet Weapon Skills (3/24)

    It has been revealed that Armor Shatterer gives a +50 accuracy bonus. Does this mean it gives +150 total?

    What does this mean for Beastmaster Pet Abilities?
    Automaton Weapon Skills do not have an accuracy bonus associated with them. Thus, in cases like Armor Shatterer, it only has the bonus listed.

    The same applies to Beastmaster Pet Abilities.

    Cornstarch (3/25)

    Can you please add a Trituration recipe for this item?
    Trituration is used for Medicine type items, thus the item Cornstarch does not apply. However, we are aware that there is a request for a recipe to create more of this item at once, so we’ll look into it.

    Campaign (3/25)

    Can you make Campaign give Capacity Points?
    Capacity Points are generally only rewarded from events above a certain level, or events containing enemies above a certain level. Because neither applies in Campaign, we currently have no plans on making this change. We hope for your understanding.

    Announcing the April Version Update

    Dearest adventurers,
    Matsui here, with a little bit of information on what the version update scheduled for April 5 has in store. There are two major elements I’d like to introduce to you: Ambuscade and mounts.

    Ambuscade
    Ambuscade is a new type of battle content in which the enemies within change every version update. Given that the entrance to Ambuscade is via Mhaura, it should be a breeze for any adventurer to find their way there. The item required for entry will not be consumed even if the battle is lost, so we expect that it should be relatively easy to participate.

    In addition, Ambuscade has a variety of difficulty levels, so everyone from seasoned veterans to those just starting out should find one that matches their needs. Those wishing to tackle the strongest foes are advised to select “Very Difficult” and be prepared for a valiant struggle!

    Even if you’re not the type to try battle content at its most challenging, you’ll be able to eventually earn the rewards from Ambuscade if you keep working at it, making the content truly accessible for all.

    Mounts
    Ever get tired of riding your faithful chocobo around and wish you could traverse the world on something completely different? In the April version update, you’ll be able to do just that with a new mount system! The initial quest will provide you with your very own raptor mount, and we plan to introduce further mounts through version updates, campaigns, and perhaps other activities as well.
    In addition to the above additions, you’ll be able to synchronize alter ego emotes to your own, enjoy a more convenient way to participate in Voidwatch, try your hand against domain invasion NMs more frequently with decreased respawn times, and store even more goods in a second Mog Wardrobe.

    More detailed information about the April version update can be found in the table below. Bear in mind that some of these items are still undergoing testing, so last-minute issues may prevent some of them from making the update.

    Goblin Mystery Box (2016/3/30)

    Can you remove the animation of changing boxes when using the special dial? It gets really annoying.
    We are aiming to make some adjustments to this in the April Update. We hope you can wait until then.

    Mog Gardens (2016/3/31)

    Some players have brought up concerns of NPCs warping around in the Mog Gardens. I will explain why this occurs in different situations below.

    First, the issue of monsters teleporting after interacting with one. Originally, we handled this using a screen fade out, but since this is inconvenient for players, we instead decided to simply have the position information processed when a dialogue is completed.

    Second, when a player first enters the Mog Garden, it takes some time for the game and the server to synchronize, which results in monsters warping their position.

    The first situation is an intentional design choice, and the latter is difficult to solve. We hope players can understand.

    Sending Forgotten Items (2016/3/31)

    When will you be adding this?
    We are planning on addressing this issue in the version update after the next. We hope players can remain patient just a bit longer.

    Crystal Storage (2016/4/1)

    Fujito here. I teased a bit about a crystal storage system a few days ago, I’ll explain my plans for it. (It’s April Fools today, but no worries, I’m being serious )

    【The Planned Specifications】
    -This system will be handled by an NPC, and crystals will be withdrawn from the same NPC.
    -The NPC will accept clusters
    -When withdrawing more than 12 crystals, players will instead be given 1 cluster for every 12 withdrawn.
    -NPCs are planned to be placed at each guild
    --It would be difficult to place them at Mog Houses
    --Possible implementation of expansion of Mog Gardens function using Shining Stars
    --Other areas will be discussed
    -The max limit is planned to be about 5000 crystals of each element

    This is probably what the system will be like at first. Beyond that, I envision this in a completed version of the system.

    -Being able use stored crystals straight from the synthesis menu
    This would require quite a few modifications to the game’s systems, so I’m afraid I still can’t guarantee this will happen.

    I will now answer some questions players have had.

    Some suggestion I have are:
    1. Allowing for crystals to automatically be turned over to this system, with an on/off switch if player prefer the old way
    2. Allowing us to use crystals directly from storage.
    3. Applying suggestion 2 to Mog House and Mog Garden areas as well.
    The first suggestion is impossible. I believe my points above have addressed the other two suggestions.

    1. Can you add a storage (and automatic usage) system for geodes, Airlixirs, Eschalixirs, Etched Memories and various reforging NPCs?

    2. I feel the limit of 255 on Reisenjima stones is too low.
    We’ll look into it, but we can’t give any guarantees. It is still unclear how much we can deliver on this year.

    Will the crystal storage be account-wide?

    Alternatively, an account storage box would also be nice.
    Unfortunately the possibility of such an addition is almost zero. We looked at it from various angles and decided it wasn’t feasible.

    Elemental Siphon (2016/4/1)

    Many Summoner abilities cap at 600 skill. Is there any reason Elemental Siphon is treated differently?
    When it was implemented, the skill cap of 550 was deemed appropriate. However, we have decided with the equipment available now, it is not a balance concern to increase the recovery on this ability, so we have decided to make adjustments to it. We cannot give a specific time yet, but we will report back to you with details as soon as possible.

    Mounts (2016/4/4)

    Players have asked about expansion of riding areas. This will not be happening in the April update, but we do plan on doing this in future updates. It will be difficult to do all areas at once, so it may take some time.

    Of course, the question that comes with that is how Chocobo Digging will be affected. Since this expands on the areas where your Personal Chocobo can also be used, we of course will be adding items that can be dug up in these areas. It may be possible that you will be able to dig up items you have never been able to before, so stay tuned.

    (Chocobo Digging will only be available when using a Chocobo)

    Shield Vanity (2016/4/4)

    Wondering if it’s possible to add a display toggle for sub weapons so I can go without a shield? While you’re at it, maybe add a similar function for the main weapon slot as well.
    Battle animations are directly related to your main and sub weapon slots, so we cannot respond to this request.

    It is possible to be like the Legendary Doorman Naji and confront monsters with only a weapon and no shield…but we understand this is an extreme case. Unfortunately unlike the head slot, it would be difficult to add a similar function for the sub weapon slot.
