Can't really expect to have much story progression. Thats gonna happen in the next 2 last episodes of the season. Until they they were just biding their time.

That's fine and I can accept that...
But what the hell are they gonna do with the last season then? If it'll just be like season 8 all over again it's going to be hard making fans push through those 20~ some episodes without real progression. That is, unless they introduce the mother sooner rather than later and wrap the series up nicely.

We know Barney and Robin's wedding happens in this season finale (I think last week they said it's in 3 weeks), so assuming next season opens at the train station, we'll have a season of Ted dating the mother leading up to their wedding. And given that the mother will be in the story, every episode, more or less, should have story progression as their relationship develops.

I'm sure they will have more story progression next season. I think once the show got renewed, they didn't have much else left to do this season other than the wedding.

This. This isn't a drama where bitching about nothing happening is valid. And I wouldn't call a bachelor party 'nothing' anyway.

Exactly! This was a totally necessary episode before we got to Barney's wedding.

This ep was hella entertaining, I dunno why people whine about story progression when something is this funny.
