This could turn out to be actually fun. And good rewards too!
Who woulda thunk it.

The most fun part will be logging on and realizing you need to wait until Thursday or Friday if you want to do five runs in a row because the pheromones counter will probably start at 1. Hope I'm wrong, but I'm sure I'm not.
It doesn't (didn't) even start until you talk to the NPC, so I wouldn't be surprised.
The buffs don't go very high. You're talking like STR/DEX+20 on a level 3 buff. It's not something you'd go out of your way for, aside from the ones which modify drops (there are two that enhance Treasure Hunter, and a third that specifically says "bonus to spoils" which I assume means additional drop slots or something). I can't really see any of them being make-or-break in terms of ability to defeat the bosses.
Test server had a small update also today. Didn't really pay attention though, 7 some files including the usual FFXI.DLL/patch.txt
Are you sure that was today? That's about how many files I got last time I checked the test server.
and before people start going amagad new job!!1, I will reiterate again, the whole "FIRST" "SECOND" "THIRD" thing is a label I came up with. They are technically jobs 21, 22, and 23 in the list, which SE has currently named "555" "666" and "777" as placeholders.
So, once you clear the expeditions, do those "buffs" you earn stay with you for any other runs you do? Or do they expire at the boss of that "wing"?
nvm, I think I understand it. SO you can build each buff up 3 levels if you do that expedition 3 times, but you still need to do all prior expeditions 1,2,3,4 to do the boss stage of that wing, after which your buff progress and everything else are lost, regardless of success/failure?
Dialog tables done, there's some stuff in unknown 5, looks like it's just a debug zone.
Also more interesting, in that zone:
Can we get an accurate translation? Does it actually have anything to do with jobs? Because I'm seeing 23... 23 jobs?
edit: Here's a copypasta of the entire zone:
Spoiler: show
Aside from the mentioned "enhanced buffs from multiple runs", it seems that your buffs get "used up" in the tier bosses, so even after you get all your KIs you have to re-run chambers if you want to build up buffs again for the final boss, so my estimate of one month for a boss run might be about right depending on how hard the tier bosses are.
What Kincard said - getting the KIs for Umagrhk necessitates sacrificing your accumulated buffs after each boss fight, so when you do Umagrhk, you'll have no buffs accumulated, unless you go back specifically for the purpose of re-accumulating buffs. Note how the Treasure Hunter and "Bonus to Spoils" boons were all placed on level four expeditions - obviously not a coincidence.
Re: 23 jobs, someone already came up with the likely theory that the 23rd slot is actually reserved for the play-as-a-monster system, which would explain why the "THIRD" job gets every single spell at the earliest possible learned level. Either that or it's hyper-ultra-destroyallothermages-mage.
Thoughts on what the Simian mane is used in? Horn looks pretty clearly to be for the Oxossi Dagger, but can't see anything crafted that'd be CC or LC from the lists.
Hm, they just designed the ideal Stringing Pummel body:
Matanca Harness 99 Body DEF:77 HP+8% STR+15 DEX+15 VIT+15 Attack+22 Haste+3% MNK / SAM / NIN / PUP
Loses 10 acc and 3% DA against Toci's, but gains 2 STR, 2 DEX, 15 VIT, and 12 attack. I highly doubt that Toci's can beat this, even considering the 3% TA set bonus from the head. Maybe even better than Toci's for TP, but that's not so clear, since VIT is irrelevant here. Plus, Thaumas is probably superior anyway.
Also, that new cap is awesome as well:
Nemetona Cap 99 Head DEF:33 STR+13 Accuracy+7 Attack+7 Haste+6% MNK / THF / RNG / SAM / NIN / BLU / COR / PUP / DNC
New best TP piece, probably best Stringing Pummel head as well.
<3 you too Sho.
And if "23" is the new play as a monster thing (I don't buy it), then they're implementing it as its own job in some way, so it technically is a new job.(Buy that a bit more, but still not really)
