Has anyone completed all of the non-boss expeditions at goal 3 yet? I'm wondering if that's indeed what unlocks the "total completion rewards" category of Research Marks-purchasable items. I'm three expeditions away if no one else is there yet, just wondering. There are all those body armor pieces we haven't placed yet (five of them), so I can't really imagine where else they would be from (although I still think the Matanca Harness is a boss drop, probably from Umagrhk, since it's the only one with a new unique visual model). There are also the cure gloves (Hieros Mittens) and the acc/atk/DA back (Letalis Mantle) which haven't been found, but everything else has now been placed.
I just noticed something sorta game-changing as far as Umagrhk access goes:
I already referenced earlier in the thread that it looks like the guy sells key items, probably the ones you get for beating the bosses, after you finish all the expeditions (five options above, five of those key items, no other unique key items were added in this update). More importantly, though, and I just noticed this -- he sells them for gil ("What will you purchase? (Gil: ≺Numeric Parameter 0≻)"), not research marks. So, the limit on Umagrhk will just be how much gil you have, if this turns out to be the case (once you finish all the expeditions once).Code:The committee also sells certain key items to adventurers who've completed all expeditions in every rank! It's going to be exagerately expensive since you'll need to have the gil on 6 chars. At least it's not as much cockblocking as the "wait one month" option. They probably realised there is too much gil in the game lol.
Not that it matters a ton because Goldwing is pretty easy to begin with, but the JP wiki has the following info:
Goldwing only uses Spiral Burst/Searing Effulgence at night
During the day, Goldwing uses Nepanthean Hum/Spiral Spin/Noisome Powder/Sudden Lunge/Searing Effulgence, but not Spiral Burst.
The one time I fought it, it was during the day, and I can confirm that it did not use Spiral Burst. Can anyone else attest to either of these? I know I saw a parse earlier in this thread that showed a ton of Spiral Burst and Searing Effulgence and nothing else, which would match up.
does this dialog appear when you complete all mission with level 3 of completion, or just once you beat every boss once?
My guess is that the key item thing (for gil) is unlocked just for beating everything once based on the dialog text:
"The committee also sells certain key items to adventurers who've completed all expeditions in every rank!"
The "total completion" rewards is something else entirely - another category of research marks items that you can purchase, which I assume is what unlocks when you beat everything with goal 3.
Kinda unrelated, but easier to test:
Does the night/day behavior hold true for other ladybug nms such as vadleany? Might be worth taking a closer look at that mob to see if it's a general ladybug trait or just a goldwing thing. I never noticed a correlation before but I was never looking for one.
I finally started doing meebles and have some idea how this works, so I guess I see these options for total completion:
1) You complete every expedition (probably not)
2) You complete every expedition with Goal 3
3) You complete every expedition three times without doing bosses (max Boons) and then kill the ape
4) You complete every expedition three times with Goal 3 without doing bosses (max Boons) and then kill the ape
I kind of bet it's the third option. It's too bad that this system has a 20 hour recharge limit, because it's seems well set up for you to have multiple statics with different friends (5 books that don't seem to have any inherent benefit?)
It's not actually unheard of for Ladybugs to choose their TP moves based on time of day:
https://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/Category:Ladybug
@ Byrth and Slycer - I'm aware normal ladybug's night/day behavior, but what I wanted to confirm was the NM tp move access specifically.
To me, just intuitively, I don't really see how completing something multiple times implies "totally completing" it. Completing all three goals, on the other hand, does. You can max out the boons from an expedition by completing it three times at goal 1, but then you never really "totally" completed it, you just partially completed it three times.
Edit: If someone can pull the JP dialog table for Sauromugue, I might be able to solve this, because the JP wiki basically uses an alternate name for the total completion category which is something to the effect of "completed all 3 goals in all expeditions." But that might have just been someone's interpretation of "total completion," so I can't be sure unless I see what actually shows up in the JP client.
As far as I'm aware, Vadleany has an entirely different behavior pattern from other ladybugs which is in part determined by its casting of spells. I'm pretty sure it uses Spiral Burst with a strong preference regardless of what time you fight it (I tried fighting it recently at level 99 and it's still a total whore and way more difficult than it should be). The only other Ladybug NM in I ever fought was the one in past Ronfaure that drops (or doesn't drop, really) that RNG earring. Don't really remember anything unique or weird from that one.
Just seems silly that they would make you go through the completely pointless exercise of maxing out all boons, especially when some of the boons don't even increase in effect past level 1 (and the Burrow NPCs make specific note of that). Plus, your goal status for each expedition is recorded independently of your grimoire. You can check which goals you have completed for all past expeditions you've undertaken on any grimoire, whether or not the guy is holding a grimoire.
Thank you kind sir. That was a mighty wall of text, but I found what I was looking for, and we've got our answer. I've NA-ized the translations, the words used to represent the various rank names in JP are different, and the word used to represent "goal" is indeed the one used in that line (literally "achievement item"), so it's definitely for clearing all goal 3s (may or may not require beating all the bosses too, that remains to be seen).

...all goal 3s cleared items.
Never mind.
If someone wants to get on the test server and bang out all the goal 3s....
Else we should find out soon enough. I'm just 3 goal 3s away from all of them.
Somewhat related, has anyone tried for the "do not aggro" to pull the mobs before they "aggro" - like gears on Bhaf 4th? Those are the only ones so far we haven't just walked over for 3stars.
