Depression is treatable (she obviously was treated successfully before). So is anorexia. I did everything I could for my ex during separation, blowing the cover on her "secrets" so that her family could help her finally get treatment. I called counsellors myself for her but she wouldn't come. During the separation I pushed for mediation and more counselling. I told her lawyer and her family half a dozen times that we needed help, not a divorce.

But yeah, 75% of divorces are initiated by women. They don't need a reason, it's no fault divorce. And when they do it, 90% of men are on the hook for life without any say in the matter. So don't do it. If I can make that 90% into 89.999% because someone listens then it's worth it.

Abusive relationships are certainly not the same as my situation, but I advise EVERY married man that it is too risky to make your spouse financial dependent on you because the system will perpetuate that dependency forever if you let it exist. What's wrong with women financially supporting themselves and contributing to the family? Isn't that what women have always fought for? You want equality, get out there and be equal. If my girlfriend stopped working I'd leave her in a second and she knows it.

Regarding the "conversative" thing: We were both virgins when we met and our sexuality evolved later. For many years I had no problem with her limits, and I probably would have accepted them forever. You're quoting my married self here. Sex wasn't that important to me, but it DID matter. When the intimacy in the relationship went south, I thought more/better/different sex could help. It was a typical male idea, but it was stupid. We needed marriage counselling to help us deal with infertility and help us reconnect other ways first.
