anecdote:

my best friend back home is the son of a priest (russian orthodox priests can have families). Naturally, he was extremely busy with church events. he dated an atheist who wanted to have shit all to do with his religion. she constantly bitched about how they couldn't do anything on sundays since he was so busy, etc. Added to that the families didn't get along. They actually got married and there was a fight over the fact that my friend wanted to have his father marry him (understandable), and suddenly the girl's family got sticks up their butts and demanded a catholic priest (none of them are practicing catholics). So they had to have a wedding with his father's priest, then had another small wedding at the reception with a catholic priest. surprise, they're divorced now since it was a constant battle.

now, does this mean christians and atheists can't marry? naw. just that everything has to be laid out and upfront, and if it sounds like she's going to try and "change you" end it. my friend knew what he was getting into but was in such puppy love he made a really bad decision.
