I guess with Shell V the damage gets knocked down to like 1100 or so for 3 people. I'm Taru though, so that's probably going to suck for me. I forget, does MDT/MDB gear affect it, or just shell? Long recast, but maybe Sacrosanctity can knock it down more. Hm.
I guess another solution is to just run Zhayolm as NIN + WHM/THF.
MDT does effect it (Shell is MDT). I don't remember if MDB affects it, but I did this on Taru THF/MNK without any issues. My WHM mules kept Stoneskin up and I kept my main's HP >1000.
best skillup spot 380+? wasn't getting anything in abyssea.
Discord is lowered by mdt but not mdb or stats. Makes for good mdt testing ^^
abyssea @ guitarman. EPs wont give you skill, you'll have to spend some time leveling up the mobs to DC or so for efficient skill ups
If you want to cap skills the fastest, level mandies up to EM/T in Abyssea - Altepa and Retaliation or Counterstance them with a low damage weapon and a healer. Counterstance can be subbed, so this works on any job. Only get the HP cruor buffs if you're on an evasive job with some evasion, or VIT+AGI if you're on a job without. I was capping 2 weapon types per pull this way on WAR (from the level 90 to level 99 cap).
You level up monsters in Abyssea by single-target killing them. On WAR, I pull them all and Fell Cleave once, then melee them down. I'm not sure if Counter kills level monsters up or down, so I avoid them.
just catching up with the last few pages, and while it pains me to bring it back up, i have to make sure i have it straight before i decide to do another relic. my understanding, from the previous discussion, is:
ukon war > rag war for almost all situations, but rag is very close (within a few %), and situationaly superior (though the situations aren't that common). this about right?
also, what are the next best alternative Gaxes aside from brovura? iirc widowmaker was decent, how well do str magian/OAT fare? and how would these compare to rag (95/99)? if you can't tell i'd rather not make a ukon....
It's such a shame that we're always buffed out of our eyeballs nowadays meaning Brav's debuffs rarely do anything. If they did it would be far more desirable.
On paper it is a ludicrously good weapon. 158 DMG, +40 Acc, -20% DT, -18.75% Def to mob, -30 (?) Eva to mob, STR modded WS with +40% WSD.
Even though it's true it seems crazy to think that a weapon with those stats is only the 3rd/4th best for the job.
Last time I checked Metatron's debuff was inaccurate or just straight up had a low chance to proc:

I guess I should wiki-fy that info.
PS. Why doesn't Counterstance work? You can't keep up with healing or something?
I never received skill up from straight counterstance. Retaliation worked though.
In mul bravura is only ~4% behind ragnarok, not considering the def down from metatron which gives everyone a huge boost. Unless I am missing some other def down option that doesn't waste a slot, one of your wars should certainly be using bravura.
Edit: ok, if the def down never lands then that would be an issue, but "we're buffed already" isn't hurting bravura at all. If you really were attack capped, you could change buffs.
Regarding BCC, since I bring 3 for ZR anyway, I just go THF RDM and SCH/BLM and stun all the discoids.
I can test it again on whm (im like 20 short of capped club), but when someone posted the scare that they got evasion skillups instead of weapon skillups on counter, this was how I proved you could still get weapon skillups on counter. I did Counterstance with a staff on MNK and faced so I wouldn't swing my weapon and countered the Dolls in Altepa until I got a skillup.
Spoiler: show
Spoilered for big picture, but I tested it with CS sub mnk and still got a +.3 club on countering with CS.
