I 2-boxed my Hearts as NIN/WAR WHM/THF. Tank it on the tail, make sure your WHM idles in PDT gear to mitigate flail damage. When it uses Gregale Wing or w/e it is, it stops using tp and just nukes; decent Barblizzara + MDT set makes his spells manageable, but it's still worth trying to cast Ni once when you see Blizzard V. Make sure the WHM keeps Addle up. Once the paralysis aura dies it'll start flailing again, so get shadows up and be ready. Takes 4~6min depending how good the NIN is and how much paralysis aura you have to deal with, but, you have to try pretty hard to lose.

Thf and Sch are on one character, Nin and Whm are on the other.
So I basically have Thf+Whm OR Nin+Sch, not Thf+Sch or Nin+Whm.

Cheers for the testimonials though. I'm guessing Thf+Whm and shouting to buy pops will be the easiest,(but what SJ for thf?). If I get bored and start farming pops I guess I'll just go nin/war sch/thf, embrava should make short work of two pops surely.

All it comes down to is whether or not you can survive his Blizzaga IV / Blizzard V with enough HP to spare not to die to melee attacks; SCH maintaining Regen V with cures should be able to keep up, Embrava would make it a breeze. You'll definitely need enough MDT- gear to reach 50 with Shellra V, and the better your WHM's Barspell set, the better. Just to give you an idea, Blizzaga IV hits my NIN for ~1500 tops with MDT-50% and a pretty boss Barblizzara, so adjust accordingly.

If you wanted to be extra cautious, you could THF/NIN WHM/BLM, stun the Blizzagas, blink the Blizzard Vs, but the latter is going to be unreliable on account of the paralysis aura. If you're got an Apamajas II you can just stun everything, of course... but that would require your WHM to stay in party, and apparently that's frowned upon around here, so don't tell anyone if you do.

You can go 99thf/smn01 and it won't make any difference, the fight was a joke to 2 box at 90, its even easier now.

There are only 3 sensible options, nin + whm or sch and kill isgebind between kur pops, get a few more people and cleave pops or buy pops and brew if you like. If you are staying in zone and building lights then sch probably works better than whm since you can open ISL and keep embrava on 100%

having a problem with pol.exe recently using up much more CPU % to the point where the laptop fan is going much harder than ever before. this is recent and i can't determine the cause. i've cleaned fan for dust, ran regular disk defrag, checked for viruses/malware, and am now running a check files on ffxi. as soon as i log out of ffxi the cpu usage drops and the fan quietens down, but i can't determine why it started all of a sudden. win7 x64 if it matters, and i'd say it's been happening for about 2 weeks.

anyone had a similar problem or have suggestions?

Do you have a dedicated graphics card on your laptop? It might be that the system switched from dedicated card to the integrated one, which uses some of the CPU/RAM to work. Or you've switched on 16x AntiAliasing or something like that. Check your game graphics settings.

Why exactly do people make cure potency staffs nowadays over just using tefnut wand + genbu shield? Seems like a fair amount of effort to make something that's worse(?) than a cheap AH item.

To more easily hit the cure pot cap without using the body slot on WHM for the EAF +2 body bonus. Also, not everyone has heka.

My group has gotten zero rare drops from Meeble Burrows over the past few months. We do not currently get any boons before doing boss runs, which I suspect is probably a big part of the problem. We bring a thief, though, and usually get TH10.
I read a lot of complaints in the meeble thread about TH boons not being applied to the run when storing the TH boons on a second grimoire. Has this been fixed?

Unlucky, we don't bother with boons and just bring a THF. We have gotten just about every drop including a glowing dagger.

I don't think it's entirely conclusive, but you can compare Samursk's drops to the other bosses on FFXIDB and see the relative drop rates:
Silagilith - 77% NQ Rod, 2~3% HQ Rod, 8-9%% Vara Brigandine and Paalaka Gloves (Treasure Hunter)
Samursk - 77% NQ Scythe, 2-3% HQ Scythe, 8-9% Akasha Chaps and Zouave's Beret (Bonus to Spoils)
Dreyruk - 56% NQ Dagger, 2-3% HQ Dagger, 20% Alcedo pants / Krabat Jacket (Treasure Hunter)
Surtr - 66% NQ Rod, 8% GS, No data on slops because of their .dat structure (no buff)

Obviously we can't know what the base drop rates are before those buffs because you're required to clear those zones to reach the boss, but c'moooon. I doubt it's very potent.

It isn't a huge sample size but our drop rate is

1 Goldwing - 1x Alcedo Gauntlets
3 Silagilith - 1x Palaaka Gloves, 2x Dhyanna Rod
1 Surtr - 2x Punga Slops (obviously a double drop)
3 Dreyruk - 1x Alcedo Cuisses, 2x Blustery Dagger
4 Samursk - 2x Devilish Scythe
3 Umagrhk (including 1 wipe) - 1x Abatteur Subligar, 1x Orunmila's Torque, 1x Manasa Chasuble

The wipe to Umagrhk was because the SCH DC'ed and couldn't get back in (We go as DRK WAR SCH + THF mule). We were obviously slightly annoyed at that...

The same thing actually happened on Samursk last run too but we managed to fumble our way to a kill fortunately.


We generally do Samursk > Silagilith > Dreyruk > Buy KI's > Bonus > Umagrhk

I recently returned from a long break and am currently getting spell cast sorted again. I remember using a program that exported the gear I was currently wearing in xml format, so it could be pasted directly into your spell cast xml.

I am struggling to find this program, anyone know of it or a similar one?

Trying to link a new character to LSC on XIAH, but I seem to have forgotten my POL password. I went to SE account management, selected POL PW, and changed it, but it's still saying that the PW is incorrect. Thoughts?

POL Password has a very low character limit. If you made it something lengthy, it cut off at character 15. LSC doesn't account for the character limit and lets you type more than 15.

There were 2 more different players shouting (at the same time) for cooks + smiths + ww with gil rewards when I logged in today, so that would seem to be the case. Told them I was 100+ cooking/70ww, and asked what they needed. Was ignored by both, and they continued to shout.

I can't imagine the surge of interest in making hush-hush galley kitchens is coincidental.

Reinstalling FFXI on new PC

A while ago I remembered someone basically saying just install POL and Vanilla FFXI, then copy pasting your current PC's install on top, then POL viewer will handle the rest via checking files/downloading missing stuff.

Is this still correct? Or shall I dig out my TOAU and WOTG discs lol
