5-Disc Final Fantasy 6 Album from OC ReMix[Kickstarter]

    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...-remix-take-tw

We've arranged the licensing DIRECTLY with Square Enix
DISCLAIMER: This is an unofficial, non-profit project created for fans, by fans, and is not an official product of or endorsed by Square Enix.

Thanks for your patience everyone! We’re back online, and with your help we can make Balance & Ruin a reality. We worked extensively with Square Enix and were able to reach a fair & reasonable agreement, but still had to relaunch a new kickstarter after our previous one was cancelled. If you pledged previously you will NEVER be charged, but you NEED TO PLEDGE AGAIN to guarantee your rewards & show your support! Most of the rewards have stayed the same, but this time our bonus 5th disc for Balance & Ruin is already included! Our FF7 album Voices of the Lifestream is a stretch goal that will unlock if we hit $45,000!!

“The Final Fantasy series is iconic for many reasons, including beautiful music that has been remixed, arranged and performed countless times worldwide. There is one game in the series that holds a special place in many of our hearts: Final Fantasy VI.

OverClocked ReMix (http://ocremix.org) has been paying tribute to the music of games like Final Fantasy VI for over a decade. Our work has always been non-profit, and freely distributed. Back in 2007, with the help of many brilliant musicians from the OC ReMix community, I directed an album project (Voices of the Lifestream) based on Final Fantasy VII.
    ••• Why Kickstarter? •••

Even though this album will be distributed for FREE DOWNLOAD via ocremix.org, we plan on printing limited edition licensed physical copies. These copies will NOT be sold, but will be available as prizes or gifts at conventions, OCR panels, contests, and similar events. We've found that physical albums are a very important promotional tool, and often encourage donations or purchases of t-shirts, bumper stickers and other OCR merchandise. These sources of revenue are essential in keeping the site, which is run by an all-volunteer staff, up and running.

Additionally, though all artists are volunteers, many tracks will require studio recording time or professional mixing/mastering - things that we could use a budget for!

••• How can I get the album? •••

We're shooting to release the album around the 25th anniversary of the Final Fantasy series, December 18th, 2012. The project will be released via BitTorrent and HTTP for FREE: no DRM, no gimmicks, just great music direct to your hard drive. We'll be providing thoroughly-tagged and properly-encoded MP3 files as well as lossless FLACs.

••• But I want an ultra-badass limited edition physical copy!! •••

And you can have it! A project of this magnitude requires an epic printing - we'll be including gorgeous art within a five-disc limited edition package, along with liner notes and, of course, the music itself. Those who donate $50 or more will receive a copy of the album once it's printed - we're planning on printing 1000 copies only, so get 'em while you can!

    ••• Want some FF7 too?!? $45K Stretch Goal = Get some FF7 with your FF6!! •••

LIMIT BREAK!! If we hit $45,000 we can cover additional manufacturing & licensing costs and include Final Fantasy VII: Voices of the Lifestream at the $50 reward level and above!

Well, according to the video, Square-Enix made them shut down the first Kickstarter until they hammered out some legal issues, and now it's back up but they were forced to start it from scratch. They've almost tripled their goal with like 80% of their time left. Probably won't be out for another month or two.

Not sure how excited, 5-discs is a fuck ton. The same guy did voices in the lifestream which I think 4-discs and I never even get past the first without feeling like it's mediocrity in bulk. I know it's different with every artist and I like a lot of the people who are involved from other remixes, but for the moment it seems like overkill.

I do like Danny B, Shnabubula, Mazdude and virt but I don't see any compelling reasons to give this album any money.

For the second time... The first time it got shut down they were at 75-80k. lol

@Caiyou: Sixto Sounds, McVaffe, DJPretzel on this is good enough imo. Hopefully they have Snappleman in there as well. Try the 3rd disk of VotL. My personal favorite track on that album is Fading Entity.

Yeah that was surprisingly good, I'll give it another shot.

Unrelated but I wish they'd try to get the FF5 albums back on track, they planned like 5 of those too and only the first ever dropped and it was aaaawesome. I really liked the way they did the Xenogears double-album; not too much, and split into themes that made a lot of sense for the subject. And awesome.

Yeah man I really liked the FF5 album - Path of Glory is the best track on that album. Wish Darkesword would get the ball rolling on finishing it.

They've come a long way Moridam.

I enjoyed some of the more gentle tracks for Voices of the Lifestream, specifically: Deliverance of the Heart (Anxious Heart) and Serenity (main Theme)

The added use of vocals was a welcome surprise for me.

On top of that, they made "opening~bombing mission" much more ever epic than Square Enix could've done. Not even the Black Mages 3 version tops it.

Looking forward to this one. I'm always a fan of remixed high quality (well, better than what I could ever do) music.

Wish they'd have some people do more FF11 stuff. They only have 4 and only two are good.
    Spoiler: show

"Paradis" is insanely good, was really surprised by that song when I first came across it.
