Some ice mutha fucka.
I REALLY want them to bring back Lumen for the final season.
Lumen > Hannah imo, in terms of character, acting, and how she fits into dexters life.
I think keeping her character alive, and not bringing her back to cap off the series would be very disappointing. Her character was very strong, and keeping her a series regular woulda been awesome. Not sure how they would bring her back, but seeing how important her character was to dexter, it would be a shame not to bring her along for the final ride. Especially since this is most def not going to end well for him.
Only reason Lumen cared about Dexter was because he was useful as a tool for getting her revenge. After she attained her goals, she made it very clear she wanted to live the rest of her life peacefully. That season wasn't that great but they wrapped it up well enough for it not to make any sense for her to come back.
She was more of a sidekick that Dexter didn't really need anyway and we've seen plenty of times how much more risky it has been for Dexter to work with other people.
Luman was bad compared to Hannah. I R SO HAPPY THE BITCH IS FINALLY DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't want Lumen to come back because I'd like to forget that season ever existed.
tentatively
"We wanted to end it this year, but the network convinced us that it would be best to do it in two years. In some ways, this is a two-season series-ender. We have worked that out and know where it's going to end. Next year will definitely be the last year of Dexter. Absolutely."

She confirmed at comiccon that it'll they already know how it's going to end and that it's eight seasons.

Will next season definitely be the final season or are there thoughts about continuing on past that?
Buck: That's a Showtime decision. I would like to have an answer just as much as you. We're moving towards a finale, but if Showtime decides to bring us back another year, we'd all be thrilled.
I'd like to think showtime knows when to let things end, but I've seen Weeds so I know they don't.
Yes, LaGuerta is dead. Noooo, why had it to be Deb. Awesome final to an overall awesome season with a few only decent episodes (first two, arsonist + Hanna's father). Like mentioned, I love that I have no clue now where the story is heading. On the other hand, I think I never felt so bad for any character like Deb. From her boyfriend beeing the Icetruck killer, to Lundy getting murdered etc. It's like everytime the writers come up with some ideas, they add a "and make Deb suffer from it" mark to it.
Honestly would personally rather see this series wrap up sooner than later.
Although my interest in this season started to slip around episode 8, I finally got around to watching the rest of it tonight and holy shit. Although if the warrants to track Dexter and Deb were already signed by a judge, I'm not entirely sure how killing LaGuerta will put an end to the investigation (or why Dexter thought it would); those papers are presumably still at her house (we never see Dexter take or destroy them) and somebody's gonna put them through.
"Darkly Dreaming Dexter" book spoilers:
Spoiler: show
I am apparently one of the few people that hated Hannah and the entire love subplot between her and Dexter and I am disappointed that she gets to live to see another season. Her American accent was so bad.
Also, fuck Quinn. I hated every scene he was in this season, and his plot went abso-fucking-lutely nowhere. And then the finale has him successfully hitting on Jamie? Really?
I thought at the time that it was sloppy for dex to let deb get gas down the street from their planned arson... deb's check on laguerta's location, dex's lack of alibi and the way deb fcked up the scenario he planned to explain her death will be next seasons threat. Either the retiring captain or angel will pick up the investigation next season.
Kind of ruined the g/f character for the finale. She was a damaged person with a skewed set of morals for the entire season, then they just revealed her as a boring sociopath at the end to wrap things up.
I'd love to see lumen back, but I don't know why she would be and there was some sort of irl drama in the cast with her?. Maybe dex survives it all and the bombshell will be that deb kills herself, making dex reflect on his life and leaves Miami to find lumen because he lost his desire to kill too?
P.s. quinns story was bad, then just ended as pointless. Angel's story was just the setup for a recurring set.
