You can't recruit Elza at all. The whole time limited thing is just for additional cutscenes.

That Clive/Elza storyline is a bitch if you don't know what youre doing and arent on emulator/access to a gameshark to reset game clock.
Reboot from last save or play through it twice. Id play through it twice.
The whole Clive/Elza duel meant a dedicated game. If I remember right, you still couldn't get all 108 stars if you go that route.
You can, you just have to be quick about...everything.
Well I saw this yesterday, but it seems the guy never finished it:

Imo, either just do a dedicated game later on, or just YT that stuff (of course dedicated game is more fun!).
I loaded up Suikoden III up for the first time in over a decade and holy shit.. I kind of regret it. I remember exactly when it had come out back when I was a Freshman, I had gotten a decent enough report card to ask for it. I had never been so damn excited in my life considering how good II was and had left off. At the time.. I told myself it was definitely living up to what I thought it should have been... but that was probably just the recurring characters getting me excited, blinding me from how damn awful the graphics and music are. Everyone is so damn round and weird shaped. Is Jeanne even hot in this game? The running around and battle system overall are so fucking morbidly slow. Story also doesn't quite lure you in anywhere near the way I/II did. I know the game gets faster and improves with the grading system, but I don't even think I have that kind of patience anymore. I beat SIII two times.. and I think that will do.
So definitely going to pass on it, and finally actually sit down and play through SIV and Tactics, which I have yet to do. I did buy IV when it came out but I never did get to finish it.
Said it before, but III was my least liked of the bunch. Much as the changes in combat bugged me, I think Hugo's and Thomas' line annoyed me more. Fuck the idiot beastmen.
I don't know how you can complain about the movement and battles in 3 and then deal with the world map ship movement and the shitty battles of 4.
played 3 almost entirely with my left hand, couldn't complain with the way the controls were setup. the story in 3 was weaker than 1/2 but was still interesting in the split focus of the stories. getting multiple view points was a nice break in playing.
I wasn't the biggest fan of Hugos story, but Geddoe had that mysterious shroud that made his story my favorite.
1->2->5->4->tactics->tierkreis->3
Hated 3 with its trinity system. Still have them all though. Bought 1 and 2 for psn even though i still have discs.
At least IV's battles are a lot faster paced, I could not stand how horribly slow paced S3 is, game play and story wise. To be fair, I already beat that game twice, but I was just curious since it's been over a decade. S4 itself.. I barely remember anything from it, but I never did see that cool cameo, so this should be fun. I also hear Suikoden Tactics isn't too bad either. I agree that ship travel fucking sucks, so if I get lost, I am definitely gonna look it up on a guide because I am not sailing blind. I recently 100% both I and II. Skipping III and just gonna move onto IV, Tactics, and last but definitely not least Suikoden V. Which I know even today will stand on it's own as a great damn game. If I can just tolerate that slow start..
I've been playing with Suikoden Tactics a bit (got sucked into Xenosaga 3 so gunna beat that then work on Suikodens) but it's a pretty interesting tactical game. I'm enjoying it for the most part
If I ever do Suikoden series runthroughs I plan to do 1 > 2 > 3 > Tactics > 5.
I did a recent Suikoden marathon awhile back and did it in chronological order and it was the worst decision ever. Ending with 3 was just stupid frustating lol.
So I think I'm gonna do and stream a Suikoden marathon during my Christmas/New Years break. Any suggestions on conditions or goals?
I pretty much always go for all star completion, but I'm thinking, at least for 1 and 2, maybe trying to do a speed run, get the least amount of characters and complete the game as fast as possible. I personally want to get into Suikoden 2 speed running, and think this might be a good opportunity to give it a try to get a feel for it.
I am tempted to 100% the bug-fixed suikoden 2 though...
There's a bug-fixed Suikoden 2? Every time I play through that game I avoid certain scenarios because of some of the game-breaking nonsense.
Gets me, every fuckin' time. LOL fuck yo gate.
