Can get tough if you're trying to recruit everyone, though, and sometimes the conditions aren't immediately obvious. But no, probably won't find much challenge until the post-game battles.

suh nerds i've been emulating my way through some old JRPG classics, FFT + Tactics Ogre, and as i'd always meant to give the Suikoden series a try figured now was as good a time as any. don't have time to make my way through all 5, what entry point would you recommend for a neophyte?
1 -> 2 -> 5
Throw 3 in there if you want a starkly different experience. 4 is skippable.
The timeline goes 4 -> 5 -> 1 -> 2 -> 3
But 4 is over a hundred years in the past so most of it doesn't matter. ANd 1 and 2 are better to do first mainly due to gameplay advances.
If you can only play one, play II - it is classic and by far the best in the entire series. If you can play two or more, as Tyrath said. Suikoden I is a little awkward as the development team was still figuring shit out but it does have a lot of heart, and playing it will make you appreciate II so much more.
Yeah, I should've added. If you can only play one, play II.
Yeah, probably worst thing about 1 is attacks going to waste if the original target dies.![]()
I hate you all.
I just had some kind of dream where I was talking with Suikoden developers and exploring a castle or something and going :DDDDDDDDD over all the details and how beautiful it was.
Then I woke up. This wouldn't have happened if I hadn't seen this thread bumped yesterday. >:[
Hey man there's nothing wrong with new blood trying the series out and us giving our input and even telling him what games to avoid. Gosh Mr. Selfish, all about me me me! Where's the spread of love for the series for new people? Lol
In all seriousness, what would it actually take to see a sequel? We know Konami isn't actually going to make it, would another company have to buy the entire series from them (if they are even willing to part with it) to even get something started? I mean the guy that made Xenogears up and left Square one day along with his wife who helped him write and they went to or created whatever developer made Xenosaga. I would love to see something similar with Suikoden, but that was only because the creator himself did that. Is there anyone even left from the Suikoden team that could possibly do this today? Fat chance though, I don't think Konami will ever sell away their Panchinko slot cookie cutter materials.. ugh they use our respected series to decorate those stupid ass things.
alright thanks my dudes, suppose i'll take the unconventional step of starting with the first game of the series and take it from there.
Here is something that slipped under everyone's radar, Suikoden IV was quietly released on PS3 as a PS2 classic on February 28, 2017 for $9.99. I was looking to see if there was anything in the pipeworks and came across this.
US - https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-...00000000000000
EU - I know it's up, I just can't find a direct link
Plus all four titles are currently on sale on the EU PSN
Other things I've found;
NA/EU S2 save file to be manually added to S3 - http://gensopedia.com/wiki/Suikoden_III/Save_file
S2 had an unused New Game Plus feature hidden in the code - http://kotaku.com/after-18-years-fan...s-c-1790331169
Suikoden 2. The game that will forever be "what if" it didn't have game breaking glitches that made you avoid certain actions.
Got all these games physically, but doesn't hurt to download them digitally as well lol.

I think s3 has been on there for a while. Idk about s4
edit: yeah I purchased those sometime last year or earlier.
I fucking hate you all
they keep releasing and putting on sale these on the PS3 only, when are they gonna allow the PS4 to play these titles?
Konami is cheap. Best we can hope for is the titles being added to PS Now.
I'll do a lot of things to support Suikoden, but buying Suikoden IV again is not one of them.
considering the direction konami took, i wouldnt expect any new game and if then it will be crap

Posted in the wrong neighbourhood motherfucker.
But I'm also not helping. This topic is cursed.
Where are they now?
Not making Suikoden 6. End.
