Not Omega itself but the 'power' it possessed in its blood. That's what the Omega was trying to get back throughout the entire movie. Remember when Cruz went to the wrong location (the dam) and the Alpha tried to 'drain' (he was badly injured and bleeding profusely and the Alpha noted that, or rather Omega) his blood to remove the 'power'? During the last part Cruz was kinda lucky to grab the 'power' once again and jump back in time. Like I said, it made sense and it didn't violate any of its rules.

It finally dawned on me that he was going back "one day". When he's on the beach and dies to the alpha, it's late morning. So when he goes back "one day", it's late morning again and the black dude is kicking him awake. The last time, he killed the omega sometime very late at night or very early in the morning, roughly coinciding when he wakes up in the chopper "one day" earlier. (yeah, somebody probably explained this like 8 pages ago; oh well)

It would suck to have to live 30 years over again if he still has that "power", but I guess to be on the safe side he could just have a blood transfusion and get it over with.

I was actually looking forward to Cruise being dead and the rest not knowing what has happened or why but being happy nonetheless. Kinda like an unsung hero.

He was still the unsung hero because no one found out about him.

Meh, read that post and didn't realize that's quite what you meant. I was with you on the whole "respawn" thing, though.

Something that I haven't seen explained:
If a blood transfusion removes the ability, how does Rita know about it? Wouldn't she have died trying to reset the day only to find out it doesn't work anymore?

They can "feel" it in them, or rather the absence of it.

That would work, but he also died by being run over by the truck earlyish in the day and then a bunch of times during training (granted we don't know if that was overnight or whatever) and still woke up at the same time. Ultimately I think trying to make sense of time travel in a movie is a bit silly lol

This discussion gives me flashback of the Looper thread and someone stating how he was too smart for the movie because the way they portrayed time travel was unrealistic and he was too smart for it

As explained in past posts, when he dies is not what determines when his reset time is, it's when he gets the Alpha/Omega blood on him. It makes sense as long as you aren't ignoring things lol

The last part could have been crazier:
When Tom loses the power, and they go to Paris, and Tom is preparing the team as they go into Paris where he's telling them the rules of the movie, he tells the team everything the audience knows. Basically, he told them: 'Kill as many Mimics as you want, but do not kill an Alpha. If you kill an alpha we'll be right back here having this conversation, and we won't even know it. The enemy will know we're coming and they'll kill us all.' When they get to Paris there's the classic horror movie scene where one of them gets separated from the group, and he gets attacked by an Alpha and kills it. As he kills it, you see the Omega reset the day and you see the point-of-view of the villain. We cut to the plane and hear the same speech all over again. This time when he gets to the line, 'You can bet they'll have a plan to kill us all,' the ship gets hit. As the audience, you realize the enemy knows they're coming. The problem was you were so exhausted by the time you got to that point.
