    Skydiver from space!

    www.redbullstratos.com

This was posted in the news thread a while back during a test jump, but now I think it deserves its own thread. This dude is going to jump from 120,000 feet wearing a space suit. And he plans to break the sound barrier while free-falling (made possible due to the thin air and low temperatures).

The dive will be streaming online tomorrow morning. Just 10 hours to go.

I'll be honest I probably would attempt this given the chance, same with that one trip to mars advertised a few months ago.
There's just the small detail of being fit enough to withstand the fall...

Why would there be a thundercloud over New Mexico?

Albuquerque only gets a quarter of the rain that Seattle does, that's not soooo much less that it couldn't happen

You'd be jarred around quite a bit, and possibly would have lightning go through you. According to the story from World War II, only one of the four or five pilots survived.
