Where's the source on the bits regarding dental dams and latex gloves for oral/fingering scenes? Reading the text of the law the only measures required that are explicitly spelled out are the use of condoms. I guess there's this bit in Section 3:

This Act will requires the producers of adult films to obtain a permit from the Los Angeles County Depertment of Public Health to ensure that producers comply with preexisting law requiring, among other things, that performers are protected from sexually transmitted infections by condoms.

The use of 'among other things' may cause some porn producers to panic since it won't take much to amend the law in the future to include more safety gear for employees but nowhere does it say their permit would be revoked if they don't start wrapping hands and gums in latex, as well.

What I want to know is, in those rare occurrences when a porn actor does catch the HIV at work, do they promptly sue the employer and win a huge settlement? Or are employers protected from such lawsuits?

As mentioned before, there's a period where you're infected and contagious but undetectable. Back in the day it was something like 90 days between infection and possible detection. Not sure if that's come down at all with advancements in screening.

Err, my bad, they've moved to a 14 day testing cycle since Darren James infected 5 people in 2003. So, even if you're working or not, you need to get tested every two weeks.
