Finally.
Finally.
tl;dr?
Hope this drives competition to the brink of rock bottom insurance premiums. Them assholes have been running off with hundreds of billions of dollars every year, while simultaneously dropping your coverage of X when you end up actually needing it.
Price controls are built in aside from this.
They can't spend less than 80% of premiums on actual health care. If they have been in the past year, they have to send you, or your employer, a refund.
If they send it to your employer, your employer is required to use it to help you, they can't just pocket it.
I got a $75 check a few months ago for mine.
This is just getting the ball rolling for moving to single payer once people realize Obamacare is actually an extremely good thing.
Thought I would resurrect this thread to post this:

So basically because they don't want to provide insurance because the insurance will have to pay for birth control and the morning-after pill, all Christians must rise up and oppose the evil controlling government or they too will have to fire employees. When my family and I started our company 40 years ago, we were working out of a garage on a $600 bank loan, assembling miniature picture frames. Our first retail store wasn’t much bigger than most people’s living rooms, but we had faith that we would succeed if we lived and worked according to God’s word. From there, Hobby Lobby has become one of the nation’s largest arts and crafts retailers, with more than 500 locations in 41 states. Our children grew up into fine business leaders, and today we run Hobby Lobby together, as a family.
We’re Christians, and we run our business on Christian principles. I’ve always said that the first two goals of our business are (1) to run our business in harmony with God’s laws, and (2) to focus on people more than money. And that’s what we’ve tried to do. We close early so our employees can see their families at night. We keep our stores closed on Sundays, one of the week’s biggest shopping days, so that our workers and their families can enjoy a day of rest. We believe that it is by God’s grace that Hobby Lobby has endured, and he has blessed us and our employees. We’ve not only added jobs in a weak economy, we’ve raised wages for the past four years in a row. Our full-time employees start at 80% above minimum wage.
But now, our government threatens to change all of that. A new government health care mandate says that our family business MUST provide what I believe are abortion-causing drugs as part of our health insurance. Being Christians, we don’t pay for drugs that might cause abortions, which means that we don’t cover emergency contraception, the morning-after pill or the week-after pill. We believe doing so might end a life after the moment of conception, something that is contrary to our most important beliefs. It goes against the Biblical principles on which we have run this company since day one. If we refuse to comply, we could face $1.3 million PER DAY in government fines.
Our government threatens to fine job creators in a bad economy. Our government threatens to fine a company that’s raised wages four years running. Our government threatens to fine a family for running it’s business according to it’s beliefs. It’s not right. I know people will say we ought to follow the rules; that it’s the same for everybody. But that’s not true. The government has exempted thousands of companies from this mandate, for reasons of convenience or cost. But it won’t exempt them for reasons of religious belief.
So, Hobby Lobby and my family are forced to make a choice. With great reluctance, we filed a lawsuit today, represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, asking a federal court to stop this mandate before it hurts our business. We don’t like to go running into court, but we no longer have a choice. We believe people are more important than the bottom line and that honoring God is more important than turning a profit.
My family has lived the American dream. We want to continue growing our company and providing great jobs for thousands of employees, but the government is going to make that much more difficult. The government is forcing us to choose between following our faith and following the law. I say that’s a choice no American and no American business should have to make.
The government cannot force you to follow laws that go against your fundamental religious belief. They have exempted thousands of companies but will not except Christian organizations including the Catholic church.
Since you will not see this covered in any of the liberal media, pass this on to all your contacts.
Sincerely,
David Green, CEO and Founder of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc.

Oh yes. How Christian.
The way that article started off, I was hoping it would be a happy story about how they were going against all the companies firing people over this whole issue and would make me not hate big companies/religion as much. But nope, reminded me why I hate people. Thank you, Hobby World.
edit: Hobby Lobby* Not sure how I read that as World. >.>
Suck it up and give your employees proper insurance? I don't understand what's so hard about this.
it kinda boggles my mind that in all of America's history we have never instituted a law to fine companies who try and coerce their employees to vote a certain way.
Hobby Lobby sucks anyways
I get it. It's stupid, but I get it. They don't like their money going in any way to something that is designed to cause miscarriages. I don't know why they keep trying to spin this as abortions (actually I do) since the pills are designed to prevent ovulation, and if that fails then to make the egg unable to implant. The problem is, if one company isn't forced to do it, then every company is going to try and get away with not doing it because it saves them money, meanwhile our society gets filled with unwanted love babies which only drains our system more.
I can support their right to not want to indirectly pay for birth control, but for the greater good, they need to suck it up and deal with it.
The entire thing is based on the faulty premise that the morning after pill is an "abortion pill". Just because they're too thickheaded to understand how the pill works doesn't mean they deserve some kind of special consideration.
Welcome to living in any nation that collects taxes? There's tons of shit my hard earned money goes towards that I fundamentally disagree with, but that's kind of the price you pay for living in society. Dude needs to suck it up and deal with it like everyone else has to.
Just out of curiosity, the law requires health insurance to cover BC pills and emergency contraception, but not abortion right? What about first-month abortions with medicine only (RU-486 and the like)? I literally cannot googlefu my way to an answer, because I keep getting hits like this:

Your family business also MUST provide B-2 bombers to the federal government as part of your corporate taxes. It MUST provide execution equipment to state prisons as part of your state taxes. There's all sorts of anti-Christian things that provide for the deaths of people that you MUST engage in as a taxable entity in the United States. But now, our government threatens to change all of that. A new government health care mandate says that our family business MUST provide what I believe are abortion-causing drugs as part of our health insurance.
dill with it
Lol big circle of haters in here.
He's not breaking any law by doing what he is doing. Once he does not pay the fine then by all means make fun of him. Till then he can say whatever he feels like. Amendment and what not.
Edit: its also his God damn business, start your own. Dudes not saying you have to follow him only that there should be an alternet way to dealing with some companies who follow their faith. Don't like it? Work for someone who feels the same way as you.
Exempt from this should be large corporations. They should follow the mandated shit as they are owned by the public(if publicly traded)
Family owned should have a little more say. Lets trample on rights yo!
Personally would never work for someone like his family I think the morning after pill is fine as are abortions under many circumstances.
Tapatalk!
This is exactly the problem. People have convinced themselves that having a job is a privilege, while holding firm that owning a business is a right. Like we should all be so grateful that some people are willing to get rich, we should do whatever it takes to please them regardless of the consequences.
This wouldn't be a problem if he offered health coverage anyway, so why should anyone feel sorry for him now that he's being forced to pay for it. He could have gotten his perfect health coverage that fits his Christian mentality well beforehand if it was such a big deal. But it's only a big deal now because he has to pay, so he can eat a dick and deal with it.
