You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

    uhhhh

a lot of in-store banking helps get sales. When I worked there as a teller I had to get 5 referrals to a banker for products per day (which was bs btw as 1. I was a merchant teller so I saw the same damn customers everyday who were usually 18 year old mall ass. managers and 2. other banks were like 40 per month).

So ya, don't get me wrong, you make a valid point it isn't like picking up a hair dryer, just that they do get a lot of sales at the centers, so shouldn't be completely dismissed.

[edit] I also wasn't trying to compare it to the hobby store specifically, mostly just ramblings about the sunday thing since people were talking about profits n' such, and it reminded me about it.

Banks try and lock you in. That's all you are doing as a teller.

Business is where the money is at thought. Even a small branch is expected to do nearly a billion is just business loans.

I was seriously shocked that they didn't care if I was off $100 on my box at the end of the night, but if I got 4 out of 5 referrals, "we need to have a talk."

Biggest thing they wanted was to keep an eye out for people with mortgages to sell them HELOCs.

My banks not crazy about that number.

Its more quality, that goes for teller's,pb , or managers. A 50k+ Unsecured loan is going to give you tons of brownie points lol.

Have a bad week? Land one of them, all is forgiven. Same goes for approved mortgages and second mortgages

Sounds a lot like retail to me.

if you have business at a bank, and the banks closed for w/e reason, you're 98% likely to come back when the banks open. banks have the leverage to just say "fuck you bank on our terms" like that, much like the electric company, phone company (maybe phone company 15 yrs ago), etc. you're not going to go without whatever they have that you need, and their competitors (if there are any) don't work any different. retail is all about drawing in customers, catering to customers needs so they pick your store over the multitude of other places where you could spend your money on the same kind of shit. that means doing business on sundays if you really want to be successful.

    except, banks do this, too.

You'll find that the a huge portion of people with HELOCs never thought to get one until they walked through the bank doors and got roped in like a car dealership.

I would say the only major difference between a bank and regular retail is the intent for most customers. Most customers come to best buy to shop for products (whether they are planning to buy, or just window shopping), and a few go in for service. most customers come to a bank for service, and a few go in for sales. but this is why tellers/bankers are forced into turning those service customers into sales for them. And I think it happens way more often than some people may think.

I never would have noticed until I became a teller.
